Title: Tales From The GOPRO!
Post by: Simmy on September 06, 2015, 08:20:52 AM
Purchased a GoPro used it yesterday in league game.

Caused  a bit of drama with the umpires not sold on the idea but they cant stop me unless there are juniors present then i would need consent.

Here is some highlights before batteries Died.

The quality is excellent! Is it one of the new ones with the screen on the back? I've got a Hero 3

no screen on this one mate.

Its a Gopro Hero4 Black Edition. The silver one has a screen i went for black as i want 120fps for slowmo.

that was recorded in 720p will do 1080p today!

need a battery expansion tho and a 64gb card instead of 32. to get more than an hour in

Very common misconception, you do not need consent to take a photo of somebody in a public place in the UK. They can ask you to not take a photograph/video but they have no legal right to stop you taking a photo. Of course its always best to get consent but you do not legally have to!

I'd check upon your league rules.

Ours have a clear rule that says any junior present at the age of u19 and you need there parents/guardians permission to take photos/videos at the game.

Good footage simmo. Watched it a Facebook earlier. What helmet you wear and how did you attach it??

Ah excellent watch Simdog - really enjoyed watching someone elses league standard, ground, fielding etc.

I noticed that the oppo all seemed to be using the same two bats!

I like the left arm spinner, nice flight.

The second batsman looked absolutely clueless against the baldy bowler.

Excellent stuff!

Are you going up early Simdog? Looks like you are moving upwards just before the bowler has bowled and not moving up with the bounce/length of the delivery.

If you see a flaw in Simdogs keeping, I prey you weren't watching mine too closely yesterday!!!!  :(
I love watching these GoPro matches! Great entertainment and the quality is decent.

Mate - I was knackered last night! My thighs were tired from all that activity down leg side!

Anyway, it's only a matter of time before it's common to record matches. How much did the GoPro set you back Sims?

I'm a camera noob, so maybe someone here can help. I go skiing almost every year, and want to buy a gopro and wear it on a chest strap. Which model due to fps/video quality and all that nonsense that I don't understand would give optimal quality at the best price?

Really enjoyed watching that! Please can those umpires look after any game I am batting in! That first lbw the batsman should have walked!

Brilliant work.

Who knew speedo made bats?

Why didn't you have a cow corner to their batsman with one shot??

probs wanted to get game over quicker haha

This isn't really a true reflection on the standard of our league. that batter who snicked off first ball is an outstanding player(has mental issues tho).

http://www.espncricinfo.com/england/content/player/354258.html (http://www.espncricinfo.com/england/content/player/354258.html)

The guy miss hitting everything usually bats about 8 i think.

We was bowled out for 73. so i think they was just trying to get the game won.

Also one of our opening bowlers was injured who has the pace.

Bats are torpedo and they are pretty big in our league. Indian Made tho. some good some poor.

Didnt have a Helmet on this was just strapped to my cap using normal head strap.

I used my Hero 3 White for quite a lot of net stuff this year, found the battery lasted about 2 and a half hours and the 32GB card was able to capture everything in 1080p in that time.

Haven't even considered using mine in matches yet

Yeah its a good standard. Played Houghton last years, 1 win and 1 loss.

Ian Simon hits it huge when he connects! He only bowled in the 2nd game through injury but seemed to land it on the spot at just enough pace. Tanzeel is a great player!

Yeh plenty of talent in our dressing room just shame that some games nobody comes off :(

you guys finished bottom didn't you? lucky there is no relegation.

Hoping we can get into this new top league by end of next season as the top 4 have gone up. its hard to compete with some of the top level clubs the depth is just to good.

Sad to hear that. Did you want time out? I'm sure plenty of ydcl sides would have had you play. Us Being one of them.

Also what happened to james ward. Did he move on after one season?

Although I wasn't planning on taking a break, I have actually quite enjoyed having a season off although I have missed the general banter and social side of cricket.

I think I will be back next season but haven't really though about who I am going to play for. I know you guys have a very competent keeper already though!

James Ward moved to Oughtibridge and played 4 games batting twice with an average of 0! After that I didn't see his name pop up again on any scorecards.

We have two competent keepers fighting for 1st xi spot. So yeah good point. 2nds could do with a decent stumper but not sure weather you want to play in div 2 or back in one.

We played outibridge twice last year. Didn't see him. He's a good talent. Shame if he's just given up.
Title: Re: Tales From The GOPRO!
Post by: Kieron_BT on September 14, 2015, 12:59:54 PM
Yeah, he played a couple of ok knocks but was found wanting a bit really. Was too 1 dimensional and based his game on putting the bad ball away. Unfortunately, as Simmy will tell you at that level you just don't get bad balls. Too many times he was on 20 from 20 overs and then got out which didn't help the team in any way, you have to either kick on or bat through if you are going to do that.

Not really sure what I'm doing to do yet, my other option is to take up bowling spin properly and keep if required but who knows!

clearly the ONLY reason they got out for less than 100 was the fact that the team batting first seemed to have a shockingly poor "bats per player in the team" ratio of 2:11, as opposed to the more acceptable 5:1
