Question for those that went and have seen the ranges for next season,
Who is looking at having the nicest gloves as I could use a new pair as mine are getting very worn from both nets and indoor cricket,
Do like the h4l gloves but was wondering about the big players as well
-
Like this topic!
Just like you, I love those H4L Custom gloves.......they are simply stunning! Congratulations to Matt for those and all his gear!!
But interested to see what else is around too :)
-
I'm not a fan of brightly coloured soft goods or pittard palms. I do however prefer sausage fingers.
That means I fall into the "strange creature" category, and it does limit my choices somewhat :-[
My favourite gloves from the 2016 season are the GN prestige, they tick all the boxes for me:
Sausage fingers (why don't more "big brands" offer these?)
Sheep leather palms (lovely soft & supple leather at that)
"Test level" protection (if they're good enough for Alistair Cook & Jonny Bairstow, they're good enough for me)
Classic white look, no over the top colours which is a bonus
To my mind they also offer excellent value for money at £40 a pair (I can remember when I started playing you could get top of the range gloves for £25 though, what happened to those days...)
-
Gotta agree with the above! Love the look of both the Prestige and the H4L Custom, both incredibly classy looking!
-
I'll second the GN prestige shout, best gloves I've had since my GN ultimate 750's from the late 90's early 00's

The Kook blade gloves have been very popular based on enquiries so far, H4L custom obviously, Prestige was a very good 2015 seller, do keep an eye out for the B&S gloves for 2016, all following a similar mostly white, minimalist design.
-
Glad we like this topic
As is good to see how changes happen from season to season,
Hybrid, sausage, split all different and all follow trends
From loud colours puma Spartan, to classic white grays prestige and h4l,
As for me I'm thinking full h4l kit probably g1 as I can't afford the pro or custom but all look great

All in stock with us mate if you wanted to have a look at any of it :)

I have a small stockpile of Ayrtek Elite which should last me through 2016, or even beyond if my 2015 form is anything to go by!
-
From next years stock the Kook blade look the best to me so I may invest even though ive just taken another pair of Vulcans off dean as they offer better protection than most plus I like the feel
-
H4l best looking I've seen so far, and pittards too. Win win
-
I'm like walking wickets, I like a sausage fingered glove, and I don't like pittards
But
I like a big lairy in your face glove!!
That's why I rock kabooms at moment and will be switching to the grays powerbow next year.
Was hoping the h4l softs would rock some nice blue from the warbird range. But no 3 pairs of borrrrrriiiing gloves. Not even one out there different.
Could do the pics in black and white and save some money printing!! Lol
-
Echo what people say about the Kooks Blade.
Also the GN Omega XRD 1500 I personally use - incredibly flexible, remarkably light and very comfortable. Colour scheme isn't for everyone, but if you can look past it, these are the best gloves I've ever worn or seen!
-
The BAS players get my vote. Colour scheme created whilst designer was on acid but they are comfortable from wear one and hard wearing
-
Do the gloves the Pakistani batsman using the Titanium brand look like the kook gloves from last season
Or is it just me being bored watching the game
-
Guys can anyone using GN Prestige batting gloves help me with some insight. Flexibility & palm are what I want to enquire about. Thank you.

I echo a previous comment made in reference to the new Bellingham & Smith gloves. They look fantastic and will be fantastic value.
-
Actually I live in India so sourcing a B&S ain't an option. Have 3 split finger gloves so wanted to try a sausage this time.

Have seen a lot of good reviews for BAS player gloves if you want to try sausage style. Thinking about getting a pair myself.

They are brilliant! Used for the first time last season. Ive used a lot of different gloves in the last 35 years of playing but these are incredibly comfortable and robust. 600 runs plus all netting last season and they have a small worn patch on one palm
-
What about the SS test all white ones?
-
What about the SS test all white ones?
They are a fantastic pair and I am currently using them.
Light weight and offers good protection.
-
I ordered a set of the new B&S gloves today from Gary. I believe that they are sausage with an additional split protection to the bottom two fingers.
-
The downside to the bas players glove I feel is the 1 piece thumb plus the blue in them doesn't go well with my Hellfire Monster [emoji12]

Gaurav23 ,you kit tart :D

Considered kook cadejo players gloves to go with the hellfire but the Indian ones are sad in comparison to the UK model.
Prestige - no one ??

Not sure if guys here have tried Gel Thumb of Gray Nicolls, that is amazing!
I love Gray Nicolls Prestige gloves due to their simplicity and elegance.
-
They flexible enough cd ??
Remember Paul from ijc going on to say that they are better than many split finger ones after wearing em in for a while. What say ??

@gaurav23 I have GN prestige gloves.
Plenty and flexible out the packet and the palms are nice and supple.
They look great in their plain colour scheme, so they come highly recommend from me
-
@gaurav23,
As @WalkingWicket37 said. They are nice and supple, they are snug unlike the predecessor which were similar in design (Oblivion Test).
Honestly, sausage gloves require some time to break in but once you do, then they are arguably the best!!
-
As Cover_Drive has said all sausage gloves need breaking in, but as I have been using sausage fingers since I started playing, I don't really think of this any more. Of the gloves I have tried I found the prestige to be one of the most, if not the most, flexible sausage finger gloves straight out the packet.
-
Anyone tried the GN legends? Im attached to how comfortable they feel especially on the thumb (been hit there before) the padding inside, instead of just the plastic thimble gives me extra reasurance anything similar in different brands? @itsjustcricket @vitascricket

The BAS players suit small handed players but they honestly didn't need any breaking in although I batted for 43 overs in my first knock with them so that might have helped!
-
Prestige it is then. Hoping the Indian range is not much different to the UK ones.
Thank you WW & CD [emoji3]

I'm a fan of Salix gloves - they're a bit spenny but I tend to get last years model which are a bit cheaper! Great range with both pittard and normal palms to choose from and excellent protection.

Apart from the design, I can't think why they would be different because both are made in same country.
All the best, I look forward to the review.

Tried on the prestige last night and was really impressed. Torn between those and the H4L currently on sale

I have both sets of last seasons H4L's and they are both fantastic gloves, very very high quality.

Got Affinity gloves quality really good

I've had legends a couple of seasons back, comfy and the protection I would've thought is about as good as you can get, wasted at my level tbh but they didn't last long before the palm on my left hand wore through (rhb).

@Woodyspin
The only other split finger glove that is fairly plain that has the spongy style padding in the thumb like the GN Legend is the new B&S glove

I used the SVR Spartan gloves this seasons so comfortable
And the price was
Criminal only 60 Aus dollars

Got the GN Prestige finally. Using split finger gloves all my life they sure seem different. Got to admit they are moulding at a fair pace though. Good for the price I'd say. (http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160117/cd088f7711d28a7cee2384e60b7bb1f1.jpg)

got myself a pair of unbranded plain white split finger gloves from onlinestockist, also got the plain white ss dhoni sausage gloves, they are very very good, we make a big order up to save on postage. prices are a no brainer. Dhoni plain sausage fingers were £26 with delivery and the plain splits were under £20
-
Can't beat the $10 I paid for the Impala VA900 gloves I got. Very nice gloves.
-
Focus Cricket gloves are very comfortable and light. Good designs and minimalist in colour.
-
Love my H4L custom glove!all white, simple
-
Just had some GN Prestige gloves arrive - already supple and flexible. Would recommend them already!
-
Agreed. The soft fill & the leather on them gives one of the most comfy & snug feel.
Best part - the palms are complete leather & no mesh (very traditional in that sense again) so highly likely to last a lot more.

Hello everyone. Just wanted to know if this is the maximum a sausage shaped gloves can break-in
Haven't used them yet but this has become the natural shape now. Thanks.

Second net with legends on Sunday slight rap on the bottom hand thumb (RH) drew claret. My last pair were GM purist? from Fat Ashleys and felt just as robust.

No doubt GN Prestige is one of the most supple sausage finger gloves right out of the package but honestly I am not that confident about the protection offered except on the first two fingers on the bottom hand. The padding of the thumb also seem a bit out of place (compared to the other gloves I have).
-

i'd second that; very comfortable but its isn't for everyone. esp with the 1 piece thumb + lack of ventilation.

Been hovering over the 'buy' button for a pair of H4L Pro gloves for the past hour or so. Anyone have any opinions?
I've tweeted Matt in the hope that at the back of his workshop somewhere he has a pair of NV Pro ones because as much as they're out of stock online, £32.50 is an absolute steal! Think I'm going to be massively dissapointed though - hence me thinking about the Pro ones. @Vitas Cricket have them on at £60 at the min.

They are very nice gloves nearly bought some myself, until I was offered last years NV pro ones on here, these are great gloves, I also bought the NV Classics, which are also very good, but I feel the thumb just does not feel perfect on these..
-
I wanted spme but was gutted when they didnt have OSM
-
I found the NV classics to fit quite small (and i have tiny hands!) so were gifted to my dad. B&s assegai gloves are lovely, probably the comfiest gloves ive owned.

I have a pair of NV pro and 2 pairs of NV classics
The classics fit smaller (more like some brands small men's) so they're perfect for me. The Pro's are larger fitting and more supple out the packet, but both are great pairs of gloves (and I personally prefer the classics)

you'll get nothing decent for £20 nowadays, triple or quadrouple that. unfortunately. the market has grown so much and so much choice but prices are almost of bats when i started playing. but certain aspects have improved a lot, i wish more gloves did the finger protection change that gm did a while back.
-
iv had a hand full of gloves.
1) salix ajk £82 (after 10% discount!), RH Youth 2015 model i use these any day. much better then salix chrome also £80. or other top of range gloves, that eg sf black edition or others that are a copy of the salix chrome.
2) newbery sps £65 , RH youth, 2015 model also excellent. i will use these also
3) newbery sps £50 , RH Youth ,2005 model , my fav i use to use these till i started spending on kit.
a gap between above three and the rest
4) mb malik, £25 , Rh mens, 2004 excellent gloves, but since a slightly bigger and hence heavier i won't use in matches but they offer excellent protection.
5) affinity £45 , Rh youth, 2015 model , prob won't use out side net use.
6) bradbury players £40. Rh Youth, 2014 model, prob won't use outside net use.
am now thinking of getting the ss ton test match (sausage) or the elite glove. as i think i need another sausage glove like my mb malik, as i think the protection is awesome. the gloves are already pre bent so they don't need much bending so the split fingers is not necessary and the impact of ball is distributed better as the whole of the finger is protected by the same roll, unlike split fingers where if impact falls on one chamber / compartment compresses that area till you feel pain direct below. it doesn't re direct the impact to other areas, as each area is isolated hence cant help out.
-
I have to say that the 2016 GM Original Limited Edition are pretty next level. Incredibly comfy and look quite good too.

iv tried them. the salix ajk are better. period. the new model even looks nicer. you won't look at other gloves after trying these on.
i have other gloves, as they all match my bats, but as far as playing in matches is concerned, i don't look past the ajk. if you want to spend top end. just buy it.
-
Can't beat the $10 I paid for the Impala VA900 gloves I got. Very nice gloves.
thats cheap! was it second hand?
-

salix = awesome, all over awesome. the ajk range even more so. but vv high end in price as well.
-
Got Affinity gloves quality really good
affinity great value for money, trendy and match the bat well.
-
Looking on pro direct
Up to 20% off batting gloves
The kook torre gloves ok

Gray Nicolls Oblivion E41 1000s
Love the mix of sausage finger and split finger, also a very big fan of the look of the gloves.
Although they're discontinued in the UK (I'm glad I've got 2 pairs) the Powerbow 5 1250 are a similar style...
If you want the exact same style and look they will be available as the XP70 gloves next year in Australia
If they're good enough for the likes of Williamson and Khawaja, they're good enough for me.
I wish they made me bat like those two :D

What are the best gloves people are using at the moment
-
What are the best gloves people are using at the moment
That is a very open question and everyone will have different opinions!
I personally think that H4L Custom gloves look fantastic and very classy and also love the pictures of the soon-to-be-available Kookaburra Ghost gloves!
Also think Salix are consistently classy and a few others. But a lot depends on the fit and feel of the glove.
So get trying some on!!
-
Started netting in February with GN Legends couldn't get on with them, then bought a Warbird bundle from IJC including the custom gloves and pads, gloves seem more hard wearing in the palm area than GN L's and a bit more flexible out of the packet, highly recommended them.
-
I've got GN Prestige gloves, and safe to say, I've fallen madly in love with them! Comfiest things I've ever had on!
-
I've had my fair share of gloves in my time, but for me the best brands I've use have been either newbery or any of the RPC/blueroom gloves amazing quality, nice soft pittards and quite large compared to most men's size gloves
-
Went from my odd kook kahuna 600's
To the impulse gloves slightly bigger fit but must have helped as I scored 25 on Saturday.
Thinking of getting the GM 808gloves as they fitted nicely when I tried them on
-
GN OMEGA XRD1500 are by far the most flexible and Comfortable gloves I've used, GN are not making the omega's anymore so not sure what is the closest glove to the XRD's.
If you haven't tried them out make sure to do so
