Hey Guys,
I just got my BDM Sting grade 2 or 3 bat. I had ordered it from onlinestockist on the 28th of November and gave him my spec of min 40mm edge, 63mm spine swell, no concaving, 6 to 8 grains & 2.10 to 2.12 weight range. At checkout there was an option to get your bat knocked in and oiled and I selected only Knocked in and no oiling. Well I received it today and was happy with the bat. Overall happy with the seller, he provided me with 2 scuff sheet, 1 extra octopus grip. The shipping was super fast he shipped from India on the 7th and I received it today at 11am in UAE.
Overall happy- I received a 2.9 bat, no concaving 43mm edge and 64mm spine. only disappointment was that it has 12 to 13 grains. Bat taps quiet good, I could see the indentations made on the bats face while they knocked it but when I bounced a ball it left few seam marks that shows that I still need to knock it in before match.
Now I am waiting for my 2nd bat from Ajit (onlinestockist), this one is also from BDM and same category Sting but I have asked him to get it made in Sachin Tendulkars profile but with 6 to 8 grains and max 3lbs.
This one is awesome and hope the next one which should be here soon is also a cracker.

BDM are producing some cracking bats and proving to be excellent value for money! Interested in how the other bat turns out. I have been thinking of getting one as well but can't make up my mind between BDM, BAS and RNS.

My teammate uses BAS and its good, I used to have RNS once I straight drove a ball from the middle and it cracked, But I think it was too dry. BDM bats are superb and they don't like to advertise much. I had BDM T20 bat which had 10mm edge :D but it was a gun. My knowledge is that Spartan, BDM, SS, SG, RNS, BAS & Gray Nics collect their willow form same place and SS, BDM & SG manufacture bats for other brands too.

Most bat making brands buy their English willow from J.S. Wright and Sons LTD (http://www.cricketbatwillow.com/), I couldn't tell you if BDM do as well
-
I'd be surprised if they don't! Nice looking bat @inzaghi316 - can't go too wrong with BDM, the ones I've seen used have all been good

I don't think Gray Nicolls do, as they grow their own willow.

quick question: is the bat weight 2 lb 9 oz or is it 2.9 lb (2 lb 14.5 oz)?
in other words, is it 1162 grams or 1315 grams?
btw the bat looks really good for a G2.

@bostoncricketer => You can't go wrong with BDM or BAS. If you are looking at top end BDM Extreme edition and BAS Vampire Bow 20-20 are excellent bats !

The bat looks a belter @inzaghi316

Any Brand that is big, has to buy from JSW. Otherwise survival is not there in terms of numbers. BDM does buy from JSW and probably is there oldest customer.
BDM has been considered to be one of the pioneers to launch big bats, surprised to note there there was a DyNamic T20 bat as thick as 10 mm. Wow.....
Sting is not a Grade 2 bat.... It's lower down the order.
Dynamic Extreme is not the top BDM bat.... One of the upper bats yes...
However, BDM Dynamic Power "The Game " Limited Edition is the top notch bat by BDM.

I had BDM Dynamic T20, I think It was a grade 2 bat but at a very good cost. The one I had was 6 to 7 grains and small spine but had good edge around 30mm and full profile. It turned out to be a very good bat scored well with that bat then gave it to my friend who loves it. I do believe in grades which is mainly for cosmetic purpose. Few big names grade their bats on performance I think but not sure. I do take quiet sometime to prepare my bat before nets(at least 2 to 3 weeks of hand knock and 2 to 3 coating of oil), this procedure in return has given me good durable bats with good to awesome ping.

Any news/pictures of the Tendulkar profile BDM bat?

Hey Vishwas,
I had to cancel the order as OLS informed me that BDM isn't making that profile anymore. I might be looking to get the same from B3 as I have got the 50% voucher from them.
Happy New year.

I have a bdm dynamic power original but too the wood is too soft in my liking. Even after 4 months of knocking it.. New balls are leaving their mark on the bat. A bit disappointed with the bat.

I think they are soft but gets better after good knocking and nets. I think it was your bad luck with that bat.

Yes I guess so planning to buy one more as I love the balance of the bat. Hopefully it will be not that soft

Friend has a BDM aerodynamic bat. He knocked it for 4 hours and used it the nets. Seam marks did happen but he never cared about it. Just applied a fiber glass sheet and continued using it. Smacked 37 of 8 balls last week. Don't worry too much about it, just start using it and after a while you will probably forget that ...

If you dry the willow too much, you can't press it as hard. Also why do that when you lose 1-2mm of edge thickness.? [emoji10]At least their not flat faced.
I've knocked in a extreme dynamic with a LV mallet. Idiot owner even used it prior to knocking and it cracked immediately . Took 6 hours with a LV. BDM are nice profile bats with good pickup, but you have to knock them longer. Play well.
Stickering at the shoulders is too GN for my liking and some of the bats look like a school bus of kids found the branding irons.[emoji12]

Stickers on BDM bats except for Aerodynamic bat are pretty outdated. Another let down is the amount of stickers they use on the back side of the bat. Less stickers would atleast give the bats a classy look.

B3 has the SRT profile stored. You can ask them to get that done. Even I am planning for that, but right now torn between Trott and SRT profile.

I recently went to BDM factory and got a custom made dynamic power super bat and can confirm from the owner's talk that they also import from JSW.
-
I never used a BDM bat, and now I am debating between top end BDM or SS bat. Any suggestions?
-
If you're going for BDM,go for The Game edition only. If SS, then anything above Maximus. Strong recommendation for SS Gladiator.
-
I've got an SS Maximus and its a great bat I'd highly recommend it :)
-
if you are looking at grade 1 or better than SS should be better

Can I ask why mate?
I've had a few lower end SS bats that looked as good as any grade 1 and performed just as well. They were bargain buys basically.
(The following statement applies to any brand) If you shop around you can get some gems in the cheaper models.
-
Based only on personal & team experiences mate. The Master series proved out to be a real blunder(5000 & lower models). On the other hand, my gladiator is still going strong after about 3 years with fair usage.
You're right with one aspect that if dug deep, you sure can find bargains & you need knowledge & luck on your side to score the deal but you're almost certain to find a great bat in the top ends. Ofcourse, it's applicable to all the brands. The query was b/w SS or BDM top ends so my vote stays with SS
