While in India and at short notice? Reckon he'll just end up wth some stickers.

Mrf or hero Honda would suit the Indian market.

But.

I reckon just for a laugh Nike might pay him to rock there stickers(the ones rahane has) just to pee adidas off.

I reckon he will end up at kookaburra because they have lost many players in a couple of years and need somebody to use their bats

So,

Will it be a tyre company? MRF, CEAT, etc.?

Will it be a major Indian brand? Spartan, SS/TON

Will it be a sportswear company? NIKE, NB, Puma, Hummel?

Will it be a blank bat throughout IPL?

^ or I'm whoring myself out to the highest bidder, in the ultimate cricketing shop window. Very good timing!

Sky sports reporting he's open to playing for SA. Saw that coming two years ago...

He can't play for SA until 2018, he's also quoted as saying "An English call up is still an option....".

Is it Kevin, is it really.

Depends.. If you're picking the best players at the time then sure.. He'd sit in still in a fair few formats..

I forgot, we have a few ecb lovers around who lap their party line and 'get behind the boys' trick.

All depends on your criteria.. Is Bairstow a better batsmen?? Is Taylor?? Is hales?

I think if youve played for one country you shouldn't be allowed to go play for another. I will not support him in anything if he does play for SA, i know that wont matter to anyone but i think its outrageous!

I hope you have the same stance for things like drugs cheats and corrupt players who've been caught taking cash etc?

Anyway, someone will sponsor him st some point and if they don't, he's got more than enough cash to buy a few bats and gloves

I have a south African wife so can enjoy him playing at the highest level again.
Pretty sure SA won't pick him though.

Absolutely on pure talent and ability he'd still be involved across the formats but it's been made abundantly clear his international for England at least is over, particularly of Strauss has anything to do with it. I'm just not sure he's accepted this.

Anyway, apologies for hijacking the thread with yet more KP guff.

I feel for KP - he was a sensational batsman to watch at the international Test level. He hasn't emerged as the absolutely best-of-the-best T-20 batsman in the international premier league circuit though. He shouldn't be floating ideas of playing for SA, he'd be 37 by then and may have an equally unceremonious end to his international career. His best bet is to continue to grow in the international T-20 circuit with utmost professionalism and hope that Andrew Strauss lets him back in England colors.

As above, he'll never play but it's down to politics not talent. The fact politics is a part of it says more about the ecb and the fans who blindly follow the ecb than anything else.

Still, no amount of forum posts, Twitter, petitions or kp scoring run after run will change anything.

Of course you are both right, he will never play for England again, and apologies for anyone who is miffed the thread is slightly off subject, it's not deliberate.....
There are a lot of fans who think he should still be playing, and there's a lot of us  fans who think he should'nt and are really really happy with the current England side.
I've followed England since i was about 13 and that's a long time ago, and I'm optimistic we are getting where we want to be and in a good position with other players in the wings...having a good coach helps and we have two in farbrace and Bayliss-bringing on and developing young talent.

KP actually does have more of a chance playing for SA. If you think about it SA have had a few top class players retire at the same time.
The idea of Pieterson playing for them is not as daft as it may seem
And he would not be the only player to play for two Countries...

Just my opinion on it  :)

Am i the only one who feels KP is desperate ? He is not going to get into either England or SA team. I am quite sure most of them consider him as a T20 specialist now. That's all he is going to get ...

On the sponsorship note, i think SS is likely to snap him up for this IPL season. Don't know who will sponsor him in the long run ...

from what i read the only cricket he has is the ipl and the Caribbean premier league before taking our summer as his holiday. it just happens that he isnt contracted to play any cricket again until november not that the injury is that severe.

at least that was the way i read it

Except the carribean premiership starts in June and runs to August, bang in middle of our summer. So he's out injured until then Atleast

Looks like the big brands like Nike, adidas and reebok have finally realised paying cricketers stupid amounts for bat sponsorship isn't a great business plan! Suspect the same will happen to new balance in a year or 2.

Kp looks like he's still getting free gear from adidas though
Title: Re: Who is going to sponsor KP
Post by: edge on April 28, 2016, 10:07:03 PM
Be interesting to see how NB go long term, seems like they are actually selling decent amounts of gear (here anyway) and have clearly put more thought into the kit than most of the other big boys did. Plus the sheer amount of sponsorships they've got in place. Kit always wins out in the long run it seems, other than the Adidas boots you never see a lot of Adidas/Nike gear, whereas Puma stuff is much more common - which isn't surprising given the quality of their softs.

Post by: Neon Cricket on April 29, 2016, 11:59:37 AM
I'd be surprised if NB let up on the cricket front, they've got plenty of cash to spare and I can't imagine the cricket operation as a whole will be putting much of a dent in their pockets (even paying Root £200k per year is pocket change for them after all!). The amount of extra non-cricket related kit they'll sell off the back on these sponsorships will more than likely cover the costs (t-shirts/hoodies/training gear etc)
