Anyone know much about this brand or seen one on flesh?
-
Never heard of them but just put it into Google and they have a website
-
They are based in Sialkot Pakistan. I have seen few tennis ball bats but never seen or heard abt their Leather ball stuff.
-
Seen them. Look very similar to CA bats.
-
I have seen 1 or 2 play, typical pakistani bat & looks awfully similar to the CA bat.
-
Quite a few around in our league. A couple swears to them.
As above, pretty standard CA and or Pakistani bats. My understanding is, that they're just cheaper and easier to get good bulk buy prices from.
-
Big time cheats. Stay away. I have a whole big story to tell about them. Had to take it up to Sialkot Chamber of commerce but unfortunately chamber of commerce was bribed by them & closed the case in their favor.

Please do tell the whole story....how many bats etc

We were from India were on a tour to Sri Lanka & happened to see a nice players edition CX bat there. After coming back we thought we'll order some 10 bats for the club. I took the initiative & contacted them on their whatsapp number. This cheat ,Syed Bilal was on the other end. I gave him all the specs, weight range etc for all the bats & he agreed to them. I even sent them a mail of all the details. Since we cant do payments from India to Pakistan I asked my friend in Dubai to make the payment & he did. After a week or so I asked about the progress & Syed showed me some pics of really beautiful bats. They were shipped via DHL & after 4 days I got them. The moment of truth......I opened the package to find 10 kashmir willow bats. I immediately called him. No response. Took the pics & mssgd him. No response for 2 days. Then I called up their landphone. A guy called Muddassar Jamil picked the call & I narrated everything. He gave his cell number & told me to contact him the next day. The next when I mssgd him to my shock he clearly denied that those bats were not theirs. Then I wrote posts on their facebook pages( they have multiple pages). Nothing happened. Then finally I wrote to the Sialkot chamber of commerce with the whatsapp conversation screen shots, pics of bats, pics of the box which had from address. No response for almost a week. Then after a week the vice president of SCC replied stating that the company had not sent any bats to India & closed it. After N number of follow ups nothing happened.

You should have made a Paypal transaction (i think works from India as well) and you would have been covered. That's a bitter pill to swallow, wish you could recover the money somehow.

Paypal doesnt work in India.
India to Pak money transfer is not easy. Most people who really want a CA or MB do similar - get friends overseas to send funds to the factory in Pak.
But Amrit is right - should always get paypal transfers in this case. Pakistan is highly risky venture - I once got a few CA bats from a more "known" place - turned out to be well made fakes (almost impossible to tell as they had the holograms and edge stamps etc). Sold them as plain bats in the end for a loss. Ah well, you live and learn.
-
Lately there has been so many scams going on from PAK like any random guy makes a facebook page and start posting pics of bats in order to scam innocent buyers.
Always do your homework and google is king so search first about the source, name or phone numbers may clear up things a bit.
Anyways SIALKOT shop is only reliable i have know and bought but i dont guarantee a good customer service from any of south asian sources.
-
Agree, have dealt with Sialkot Shop and they are more reliable of the lots.
-
I have been buying from AS factory for few years, pretty decent equipment for reasonable prices, they have a online store now
http://store.assports.com (http://store.assports.com)
All the bats had amazing balance.

Same here. Ordered few bats, softs and recently white balls for nets. Good customer service and responsive on emails/facebook messages.
Make sure you tell them weight in grams when ordering your bats.

What was postage and taxes/duties like to uk? Also slightly confused by website as looks ok but then shows Max Power bat at bottom for £15.40?! The description says very best hand selected test match quality English willow?

AS top of the line willow is "Player edition" followed by "VX100". Rest of them are lower grade willow. Also their claim of "fully knocked" and "ready to play" is all puff piece. You will need to oil it and knock it like any other bat.
If you are going for AS then try and get VX100. VX100 is superb value for money. Be careful with the weight description. Site provides weight option as 2.7 lb, this is not 2lb 7oz. It's literally 2.7 lb which translated to 1225 grams. Please keep that in mind. I had a mix up once and it wasn't a pleasant experience to deal with a heavier bat.
-
Must admit there are some lovely looking cx bats on eBay at the moment sold by the same guy I think. Quite tempted but" to good to be true" syndrome is stopping me, he has decent feedback though.
-
allegedly use grained sheets
-
What was postage and taxes/duties like to uk?
UK: £13.85 for their player addition.
I liked the AS Shoes, got Spikes and Moulds, a white ball, all in for UK: £45.
Bearing mind i almost bought a pair at the weekend for UK £95 (Nike pair), hope they are comfy!

Good video, seen a few nice looking sticks from CX on ebay - can't believe there using a grain sheet. Quite the mark up on low quality bats
-
@Churchy1989 - did you get a response from 'assports' about your broken spikes?
-
This just reminds me of the wonder bra era
everything looks great and well packages till you unwrap and it all disappears
-
@Churchy1989 - did you get a response from 'assports' about your broken spikes?
I did, the chap said he was on business and was sorry for the delayed response.
I was not offered a refund, I was offered the money off another product of my choice (so buy a bat and you get £15 off).
I was not too happy with that response and will not use them again.
-
Couple of guys locally used CX bats last year. Remember seeing them as they looked stunning and played pretty well to be fair.
-
In the side on picture, you can just spot a grain leaving the otherwise perfect blade :P

I personally don't trust these lads. I have been in touch with CX sales representatives and so far most of the bat pictures that I have received from them look fake. At one point, they tried to sell me a fake SS maximus and when I told them the sticker looks fake. They ask me to send them picture of Authentic SS maximus pictures so they can copy the stickers.
They are a must avoid company in my opinion.

agree, watched the video and they use fake grain sheets to hide low grade bats according to Hanif.

Precisely! Plus their bats are very expensive, I rather get a custom made bat.
-
I had quite a confusing conversation with guy a while back. It went on and on and around in circles. He assured me that only bats labelled as Inventec had the face "technology" and that the other range, which he called bonafiet were all natural willow bats. I pointed out several advertised bats without the Inventec sticker had 20+ grains on the face but less than 10 on the back........ I asked why all the bats aren't advertised as exactly to what they are and he said he "couldn't", (Couldn't sell any if he was honest?) but that he tells anyone that purhases one. Sure thing..... I agree that some look amazing! And im sure that some might be genuine but far too dodgey to take the gamble for me.
-
Would it be considered racist to suggest that there seems to be a culture of dishonesty amongst Pakistani cricket people?

Yes, very much so! I have never had any issue with Pakistani people. I have found them to be polite and courteous at all times.

My understanding is the INVENTEC sticker has only been recently introduced. So previously they were sold without it been obviously clear that these were bats with grain sheets on it. The caveat was, they would provide a small booklet with the bat, which detailed their "special technology".

That is a shocking statement to make :o
-

It may.
-

I didn't make it, though. I asked a question.
-
Would it be considered racist to suggest that there seems to be a culture of dishonesty amongst Pakistani cricket people?
I think that there will be honest people and dishonest people in all walks of life.
Look at how many people have been ripped off by English/white people on the forum in the past (examples sadly deleted to avoid an argument!)
Very certain bad apples are bad apples.
On here recently we have been fortunate that dispite a reasonable amount of virtually unregulated trading of equipment, people remain happy and there are (touch wood) relatively few issues.
I would also say that before joining the forum I used a Pakistani bat supplier for a number of bats and ibwas very welk looked after.
-
This is probably a stupid question, but is a grain sheet just a very thin slice/veneer taken from another cleft of willow and glued on?
-
@manno, not a stupid question. A laminate is two bits of wood, a grain sheet can be removed and is a glorified acuff sheet
-
So what are these then? Just a sticker, if so whats it made of, actual willow or something synthetic?
Id assumed it must be a veneer of mint looking willow glued on.
-

Like a rigid scuff sheet Manno, the one I took off a low end GN (Butterfly underneath) was "plasticky", about 1-2mm thick. Thick enough to remain flat if you held it away from you at one end but bent upon any direct force downwards on it.
-
Would it be considered racist to suggest that there seems to be a culture of dishonesty amongst Pakistani cricket people?
It is unfair to suggest cultural dishonesty among "Pakistan cricket people". Pakistani brands like CA & AS make good products - try getting one of these bats from Asad at @Uzi Sports. I have tried to get AS & CA bats directly from the manufacturer and it has worked out fine. They make small mistakes like describing the weight - 2.8lb in their description is really 2.8lb and not 2lb8oz - however they don't make an effort to clarify this properly.

This is hilarious how he is trying to justify it. Absolutely outrageous to make out it's somehow beneficial to the customer and not just a total con job to flog cheap tat to people under the guise of quality bats. good on @hanif for calling him out and warning people.
-
Dishonest guy.
-
Does he even really try and justify it? Spends most of the video explaining how it's just a way they can sell ugly bits of willow for better prices 🙈🙈🙈
Paul Aldred put a video up a while back where he actually sands off the fake grain sheet, so possibly the faking is actually a bit more clever than your usual, difference is that in a £30 Kook it's obvious and not being done to mug people off!
-
Dishonest guy.
Not sure if he's dishonest. He clearly says the looks are manufactured. I would never buy it but is he really saying "genuine grade 1"? No.
-
I don't know if you guys have seen this video but hanif from eclipse and some guy from CX are going at each other.
https://youtu.be/7gT2GB9Pv3c
This is indeed cheating. How do you oil this bat? how do you sand it after a season? What happens when you apply a scuff sheet and try to take it off at the end of a season? Or is it assumed that the bat isn't gonna last one season? I personally will never buy such a brand at all! I prefer so-called ugly looking bats rather than this. That way at least you know which grade of willow it is (grade 2/3/4/firewood). This way you are at the mercy of the supplier. If they want to improve the looks, then I like what GM and SG do to their really basic entry level cheap bats - they put some sort of a white cloth on the bats and honestly sold those bats at grade 4 pricing (in no case they pretend them to be good quality bats).

And u liked your own post :D

Shifting from one foot to the other - a sign of uncertainty or worry. Often being uncomfortable with what you are saying. If you were to give the CX guy a break, you could argue that he is simply uncomfortable in front of cameras? But i suspect the more accurate reading of his body language is that he is not happy or confident with what he is saying! I have rarely seen anyone shift that much from foot to foot!
He talks cr@p too! The sheet improves pickup? Maybe if you wrap it around the top of the handle!!! He comes out with statements that make no logical sense without qualifying them! Would i trust him? No way!!
-
I can't believe you get no warranty at all if you buy a natural blade?
If my bat breaks in 6 months or 1st season I may expect something from the maker, not a go screw because you didn't buy my low end grain sheet bats for top price
-
CX is clearly trying to make more money out of lower quality willow. If you sell a bat which doesn't feature straight grains and clean face, most people are likely to call it as lower grade willow. CX just doesn't want to sell something as G2 or G3 willow. They just want to apply a face sheet and price a G2/G3 bat slightly lower than G1 bat and call it as performance willow - in their own words - "these bats are excellent pingers but the face/grain structure isn't that appealing".
How can i be sure that a CX Grade 1 bat is indeed a G1 bat and not a face sheet? I guess their motive is profiteering in a cut throat business.

I imagine they would be super hard.

Maybe they sell you these hard-as-a-rock 'cock' balls ( can't believe that's what it actually says ! ) to help you break your non warranty cx bat quicker , thus needing a replacement !
-
I noticed this today on eBay australia. Stunning looking face of willow on the bat but look closer and it appears to be a grain sheet on the side pic. Botchy job on the glueing as well gives it away. Being sold for $490.

I feel sorry for the naive ones who would take one look at the face and buy based on the grains.
-
I spoke to someone who bought one of these CX bats and paid $400. He said bat is still holding up and performing quiet well.
-
CX Are an extremely dodgy company STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!
I purchased three bats. As I was aware of their reputation I let them know I was a bat maker, had played semi professional cricket, and I wanted to guards left OFF! The first thing a dodgy company will do is put on a toe guard so it disguises a grain sheet. By asking for no to guard I knew that they couldn't trick me.
I opened my package to see three bats all with toe guards. The grains didn't match through the shoulders and I contacted CX Cricket Straight away.
I asked for grade one willow, all I got was a thin slice of grade one willow covering up Kashmir willow bats. What surprised me more when I caught the company out was his response.
He wasn't apologetic, rather he was proud of what he called "new technology".
I don't see how cheating people is new technology. I've been charged over $300 USD a bat for absolute rubbish. They don't offer refunds, and the bats are unuseable and unsellable. I see a lot of people have had the same experience as me. Absolutely shocking.
At no point did they tell me they were going to do this. They are buying the cheapest grade willow and shaving a thin layer of good willow onto the top.
-
Did you buy through PayPal or Credit Card @AusBatmaker ?
If so, should be able to get a refund.

It is awful when someone gets ripped off and obviously I feel for you. But if you knew their reputation was bad, why in the world would you invest $1000 with this company? There are so many other sources of good bats, this doesn't make sense to me. Sorry but, a fool and his money...

I am telling you , AS Bats are an unsung hero.
These bats are WAY BETTER than any other Pak bat in my experience.
to @raviwest - sorry to hear your story with CX.
I saw a few of these on Ebay with mind boggling grains and on lush willow - my immediate doubt was a thick sheet of English Willow glued on on top of Kashmir willow because the grains on the face and on the back didn't look the same in number and spacing.
You may not be inclined to it, but if you ever need a bat from Sialkot then AS Bat is your best bet. I know a couple of people in the factory who should take care of you if you ever to take this route. Let me know.

Yup AS and AM in my book.
I think Ihsan are the biggest disappointment, they should have been up their with CA by now.
-
^ Heard very good things about AM although don't see many of them.
Regarding Ihsan, I have used some incredible bats from them, light weight too. They are also making bigs bats in 2-11, 2-12 weight ranges.
Check out MIDs as well.

You're kidding right? Biggest group on con-men going. Heard so many stories of people sending money overseas and never hearing a drop from them again. Seriously avoid like the plague.

I had a couple of cracking AS bats a few years ago. Did I see someone put a link on here to their webstore or somewhere you can buy them direct?
-
Hahahaha mids?! Wow.
-

I've dealt with them for years directly, never any issues and quality bats on par with what CA offer. Has this happend to you?
-
From my personal experience MIDs have some of the best batmakers in pakistan. They press their bats to perfection. Not too soft, not too hard. Just right. Ihsan is on the too hard side of the spectrum and CA are on the too soft side of the spectrum. MB bats tend to be on the heavier side. As a general rule of thumb its best to deal with pakistani companies face to face and avoid online or overseas transactions. Its not because theyr conmen, most batmakers are illiterate and wouldnt follow instructions or just dont understand. For eg. U ask them for a 2-8 bat and they send u a 2-12, 2-13 bat cause it says 2.8lb on the scale. Faced that with every pakistani brand
-
Guys if any of you need good Pakistani bats at local prices let me know. Be Happy to handpick. Most CA, Ihsan, MB bats are 2.10-2.12 with 40 edges and 62-65 spine roughly. All CA bats have the same shape across ranges. CA locally are the highest rated and their quality control is the best of all Pakistani brands.

CA isn’t too soft pressed. They are pressed pretty well in my opinion.

We had 3 or 4 pass thru our club and they were sought after by others. We source bats from the owners thru intermediaries. Never had issues.

We have a lot of high quality bats in our club. MIDs were some of the best bats. Period. Expensive as well.

This was my impression as well. They take their time to get the bat right.
-

To each their own, theyr quite popular and everyone loves them. They perform really well and really soon. But theyr also the most fragile of any bats i have come across. Most common issues being delaminated and split edges. I personally have been using a Ca dragon series 50mm bat since feb and have had to send it for repairs after almost every innings. To my experience Ca either overdry their willow, underpress it or a combination of both.
-
I used mine (CA - SM18) for 5 seasons and retired it. I have many fun memories and innings with that bat. I can still use it if I wanted but the bat (Keeley Blitz shape, no stickers) that replaced it feels like butter in my hands. :D
Regarding my old trusty CA, it looks like a bat that has seen action - cracks, splits etc. I had to glue and sand some cracks but nothing serious...just battle scars. It is still great and goes great guns.
-
Approximately 1500 runs old. Just removed the scuffsheet. Looks pretty decent, no?

Do you reckon the quality of balls played a part in it?

Without a doubt. Quality of balls here is horrible. All cement pitches too

Don’t fully agree with the CA bit.
Weak and bad handles is one thing that I can perhaps live with, but their customer service has to be one of the worst after a high end bat is sold to you.

Weak and bad handles is one thing that I can perhaps live with, but their customer service has to be one of the worst after a high end bat is sold to you.
Never dealt direct with CA. All retailers here stock them and I buy from them.
