That is a shocking statement to make  :o

I didn't make it, though. I asked a question.

Would it be considered racist to suggest that there seems to be a culture of dishonesty amongst Pakistani cricket people?

I think that there will be honest people and dishonest people in all walks of life.
Look at how many people have been ripped off by English/white people on the forum in the past (examples sadly deleted to avoid an argument!)

Very certain bad apples are bad apples.

On here recently we have been fortunate that dispite a reasonable amount of virtually unregulated trading of equipment, people remain happy and there are (touch wood) relatively few issues.

I would also say that before joining the forum I used a Pakistani bat supplier for a number of bats and ibwas very welk looked after.

This is probably a stupid question, but is a grain sheet just a very thin slice/veneer taken from another cleft of willow and glued on?

@manno, not a stupid question. A laminate is two bits of wood, a grain sheet can be removed and is a glorified acuff sheet

So what are these then? Just a sticker, if so whats it made of, actual willow or something synthetic?

Id assumed it must be a veneer of mint looking willow glued on.

Like a rigid scuff sheet Manno, the one I took off a low end GN (Butterfly underneath) was "plasticky", about 1-2mm thick. Thick enough to remain flat if you held it away from you at one end but bent upon any direct force downwards on it.

It is unfair to suggest cultural dishonesty among "Pakistan cricket people". Pakistani brands like CA & AS make good products - try getting one of these bats from Asad at @Uzi Sports. I have tried to get AS & CA bats directly from the manufacturer and it has worked out fine. They make small mistakes like describing the weight - 2.8lb in their description is really 2.8lb and not 2lb8oz - however they don't make an effort to clarify this properly.

This is hilarious how he is trying to justify it. Absolutely outrageous to make out it's somehow beneficial to the customer and not just a total con job to flog cheap tat to people under the guise of quality bats. good on @hanif for calling him out and warning people.

Does he even really try and justify it? Spends most of the video explaining how it's just a way they can sell ugly bits of willow for better prices 🙈🙈🙈

Paul Aldred put a video up a while back where he actually sands off the fake grain sheet, so possibly the faking is actually a bit more clever than your usual, difference is that in a £30 Kook it's obvious and not being done to mug people off!

Dishonest guy.

Not sure if he's dishonest. He clearly says the looks are manufactured. I would never buy it but is he really saying "genuine grade 1"? No.

This is indeed cheating. How do you oil this bat? how do you sand it after a season? What happens when you apply a scuff sheet and try to take it off at the end of a season? Or is it assumed that the bat isn't gonna last one season? I personally will never buy such a brand at all! I prefer so-called ugly looking bats rather than this. That way at least you know which grade of willow it is (grade 2/3/4/firewood). This way you are at the mercy of the supplier. If they want to improve the looks, then I like what GM and SG do to their really basic entry level cheap bats - they put some sort of a white cloth on the bats and honestly sold those bats at grade 4 pricing (in no case they pretend them to be good quality bats).
