Should be an easy series win for England!
-
This SL side is one of the worst teams I have ever seen England play against. I think Ireland would be a more suitable opponent.
-
So glad I got a refund for Thursday
Shame we didn't bat first and pile on
-
England bowling 1st to be finished for the football!
-
Whoever gave the pitch a final cut is obviously Swiss.
-
When will England realise how valuable Woakes is? For me, he should be one of the first names on the sheet in all three formats! Cant believe the guy struggled to get a game all winter!
-
ODI Woakes is such a stud

Even time for a couple of drinks before the kickoff! 👍
-
That was village cricket at its best

Hahaha

I do enjoy Bairstow teeing off
-
Superb from Root. Completely unhurried and calm, if only he didn’t have the pressures of Captaincy in the test side.
Must be up there with the best ODI batsman we have ever had. Can’t think of anyone better.
-
I wonder if England was watching Rootie or Footie? 🤔😃👍

That wasn't teeing off, it was putting rubbish in the bin.
-
I do wish someone would tell Morgan it's OK to bat first every once in awhile
-
Woakes rested. It beggars belief and to hammer it in T Curran plays instead.
It’s absolute village
-
Not as village as burning your reviews for two plumb ones after two overs
-
Why would you choose to bowl first against a team unlikely to pass 200?

Why wouldn't you?!
-
For the sake of the crowd is all I can think of at the moment.
We know they have had 3 sent home for COVID breaches but this is as weak a side as I can recall seeing.
Arthur could be on homework plus detention after this game for them
-
what was the point in bringing Banton in just to carry the drinks?
-
Cover for Jason Roy niggle I think

If you want to win, it's EXACTLY what you do. What you don't do is bat first and risk getting out for a low score and giving them a sniff.. Only amateur teams do that as they are... well.... amateur and so dumb

You've got a posh setup at your village club if you've DRS.
-
Aye, camera and everything.
Sam Curran bouncing people out both pleases and amuses me

I disagree. It's a meaningless game against a poor side, so why not get the batsmen to work on getting a big score. Morgan often says he wants pressure on his team in this sort of game, as that's where you learn and progress as a team.

Win the series and then experiment with how you go about putting pressure on your team.
-
As was pointed out on TMS earlier, England have struggled lately with chasing middling scores. Seems Morgan wants his team to work on that aspect of their ODI cricket.

Doesn't cost as much as you think for a billy basic DRS :)
-
Tom Curran adds zero to this England side. Worse than Dernbach.
-
Bit harsh, bowled reasonably well today, some back luck with that 9th over
-
Don’t think it is harsh at all. Three wickets in his last 11 ODIs (one was against the might of Ireland) and the 2nd worst bowling economy rate of any England ODI cricketer ever (only behind Dernbach).

What does he offer?
Doesn't score many runs
Not consistent
Lacks pace
I think the only two things are : Offers Aggression and 'left arm'...
sadly we have yet another over rated England player.. ECB and media coo over him and some fans just go along with it. There are many better prospects both in red and white ball than Curran and yet he keeps getting the gig.
-
You can’t even moan about the right Curran.

You're confusing your Currans. Sam is well worth his spot in the white ball setup, increasingly unconvinced by his brother. Woakes is a better all round proposition as is Willey. When Stokes is back in the fold I don't see a role for TC.
-
Sam is decent and may be good enough in red ball to potentially be a middle order player and forth seamer.
I don't see how TC gets picked over Woakes in an match at all. Woakes being rested is beyond any logic.
I'm glad Willey has had two good matches now, not a mad fan of his but he's decent. You would have to say also he was unlucky to get cut from the squad before the World Cup last time round. He can also put bat to ball down the order.

What are we learning by bowling first again
-
Stupid decision to bowl first! We already know we can beat a second rate time when we bowl first. Also why not play Garton, Banton and Dawson. What are we going to learn from the current team that we don't already know?
-
Think you already know what you get with Dawson but would have been nice to give Banton and Garton a run out against a very weak Sri Lanka side.

Would stink of hypocrisy if he didn't pick his strongest team available whilst Root didn't have such luxury when it came to the New Zealand...

Morgan didn't decide the test squad though did he? If you give the like of Willey a game out of the side and played Garton then that's got absolutely nothing to do with the test team.
