MegaPower and Xiphos look incredible. Will be interesting to get a Xiphos and see if much has changed from the ones in the past. Looking like a good solid release from GN in the retro department - unsure about the Hypernova seemingly replacing the Vapour rather than the Alpha - seeing as everyone seemed to want to get their hands on a Vapour, even up here, but maybe it wasn't as popular as I thought.

New softs are up my street for the Classic range. :)

Now, if only we had a nerd of a batmaker who works at GN and enjoys being on the forum to share more about the release... :-[

Softs do look the business. Have they been tested as per PPE legislation?

Apart from Aldred telling the public it’s a major issue and he’s only one of two suppliers that can sell softs in near figure , is it an issue ?

Neon cricket will know ? Can you sell softs in future without paying for all the testing ?

Can remember going to a cricket sale at Headingley Cricket Ground with my Dad as a kid and getting a Megapower. I absolutely loved that bat, so brings back memories.

However, I'd kind of really like an original over a repro one but it does look nice. Might scour Ebay instead!

Have to say I am one of those that preferred the vapour livery... the hypernova design isn't bad just that I prefer the vapour over it

Yeah as Jonny says it's not something that'll be discussed in public, at least for now. A lot of moving parts.

I remember in the past, GN used to be one of those rare brands who did LB/LH variants of their bats as standard offering across grades. Does anyone know if its still the case?

Does that mean only chase can launch kit and if so when does that take affect ?

Chase are the only company to have the certification to sell.

They can all launch kit, unless the trading standards have stopped them in the area they are from.

trading standards don’t they have better things to do than go find companies selling batting softs ?

Which bit? Chase have full certification to allow them to trade after originally being forced to stop from Hampshire trading standards.
If trading standards in your area have not stopped you selling pads/gloves, then there is nothing to stop you?

Do they need to be done each season with each new range or modifications to an existing range?

It was an EU2016 directive, that a clown in hampshire trading standards decided all cricket gears were ppe, so needed testing. He Didn't worry too much about his kids using non tested kit tho
And yes, i believe once tested, if you change the colourway then they need testing again.

I guess it is taking a punt on other companies being unable to sell softs next season and therefore gaining a huge increase in market share

If a compromise solution is found and it turns out he wasted his money, his video on the subject would be one that is actually worth watching

During an energy crisis, it could probably heat ever every home in Derbyshire!

On a practical level, my assumption is that it could only be enforced against retailers in this country so wouldn't apply to customers importing softs from outside the UK which would be a nonsensical outcome

Something different for marketing purposes?! 😆 The idea of the original scoop was to distribute weight to the edges i think. Which at the time, was pretty radical! The scoop was obviously iconic, as was the Dynadrive too top a lesser extent i suppose.

Same - great bat. However, sad memories - an older brother 'borrowed' it and mysteriously... It never came home.

Has any had sight of the Gray Nicolls Coach Bag. It says that it can fit multiple catching ramps; now the only catching ramp I know and have personally is a Katcher Ramp.

The bag is advertised with a width and depth of 35x35 cms. But a Katchet is advertised as being 45cms wide. So this would be too big for the bag.

My question really is, does it fit a Katchet and are the dimensions of the bag incorrect?

Had a look at a mates 2023 gray nicolls pro performance gN1 bat yesterday and i must say i was rather impressed at how light and big the bat was. 2lb 9oz picked up an ounce lighter. The pressing was also very impressive. Noticed they only bind a little and tape the rest of the bat.
