How's it going so far?
My first game's on Saturday and will let you know how it goes :D

Lovely day to play.
We batted first, i batted at No.1, made 78 from 73 balls :)
Quite happy with myself.
We ended up with 290 from out 45 overs
We bowled the opponents out for 80 something :)

First round of the cup great win, bowled ok still need warm up a bit haha, had a plum LBW turned down cuz apparently it turned to much. Drop catch off my bowling too, but there was also a run out of my bowling, eventful day :D

Batted 4 and hit 4, bowled well. Took 3 for 9 of 2 and a half overs. And took a diving catch at backward point. Good start to the season

no its not especially as i have an elbow injury, if get pains and my muscles go all week, my dad thinks its possibly tennis elbow but i dont know what it is

First game was yesterday opened the batting and managed to get 13 runs, got out in a stupid fashion smashed a full toss straight to their best fielder, so was annoyed getting out, but it's only a friendly and I need some more practice outside on slow and low wickets.

Our first games are this weekend and already I have a small injury. In the nets last night I managed to damage my wrist/hand, it's only discomfort so I can play through it. Mind you I was impressed last night by my play. Against one of our spinners I was only going for a small prod back and with the goose it went over his head and in a real game would probbly get me a couple

Tell me about it!!! Our home track for our friendlies this weekend was the slowest, lowest, most miserable excuse for a wicket thats ever existed! Hopefully a week of half decent weather will improve things.
Made 16* & 0 this weekend with the CA 12000, but I'm taking the Joker into the nets tonight to practice nothing but hitting straight though the line, as I feel this is definately the way to go

had 2 games at the weekend but ducked out of the sunday game as I was still carrying the after effects of flu. Got 31 Saturday in 48 balls and was going pretty nicely until I got a shocker of an LBW from the oppo umpire. You know it was a bad one when 2 of the oppo apologise after the game. Using an MS Fusion Bat I bought last year and it sounded pretty good.Track was a bit poppy early doors, making driving nearly impossible, but improved fast, unfortuantly the oppo benefited from it as they batted second and chased down 150 for 4 down.

Had an enjoyable first outside nets today, enjoyed bowling much quicker than last year (I usually bowl slow right arm) and I seem to have managed my line n lenght better than in other years when I have tried to bowl quicker. Looking forward to my first game on Sunday weather agreeing!

First game today, had a good start to the morning when I didn't receive the spikes from Mike (courtesy of the Royal mail, again.) Anyway batting in trainers on a bit of slow, green wicket came in at 3 and made 33 off 22 balls, with 7 fours. Good start, until I over balanced off the seamer and was stumped down the legside. Fielding wise, I then proceeded to take a nice catch at gully in the 4th over and bowl some tidy off spin, 3-1-11-0, not bad considering I was bowling to the short boundary. Very pleased, and a big local derby next week, can't wait!

Had my first outdoor game today... scored 7. Not going to say I was undone by the best ball in the world, but purely through the lack of cricket training and concentration. Although I havent had much practice, I feel this is no excuse. I simply played around a straight one. Didn't middle one throughout the innings, but there is always tomorrow.
Had a second chance innings, and used a Mongoose Super Premium (The Hayden one) and that was certainly a good experience. I know where my money will be going once I get some!

LOL thats the story with me, we had a night at the dogs tonight, just back (lost 30 quid ;'( ) and like the whole 1st team went and I'm in a squad of 13 so I'm sure one or twp a;arms won't go off, it's only a friendly... but if it doesn't it will be 50 (No Swearing Please) overs of fielding :'( Still good experience though.... off to bed now just in case!

Played 1sts today (never even played 2nds before, out club is immense and a shambles)
So i though it would be a fine leg job, but I was fielding everywhere, even at short cover at one stage, took a great catch diving to my left at cover and saved about 15 runs. Didn't get a bowl but it was more the fact that the other lads needed the practice as I have lots of games coming up soon but they've only one till there first all-Ireland games. Batted 11 obviously, was just trying to stick around and give the other chap strike, didn't really matter though cause the game was lost anyway. Finished with 6. North Down: 211 beat North County: 130 odd.
(how the fcuk can someone write so much about a match when they've only got 6 and done nowt else says you!?)

Well, started off badly dropping someone on 25, he ended up on 153 before I bowled him which figures of 1-25. When I batted I got 53 off 51 but it wasn't enough.
Today I got 1 off 26 before chipping a full bunger back to the bowler and didn't have much to do in the field.

what a terrible game, little to do, I didnt get a bowl, but took a nice catch with the sun in my eyes, sadly my injuredpinkyfinger took the force of my poor catch and it hurts, I hope its just bruising but iit hurts to bend it. Was gona bat at 5, moved to 6. Didnt bat, well, our opener hit a ton, and with 1 to win the guy before me took his pads off, the opener got out so I had to go out with one to win, already frustrated by a lack of a game (I came to bat and maybe bowl and I basicly do none), I just went to the stumps, hit the ball through the covers for 4 and started taking my gloves off and walking back down before it hit the rope. Mind you, was a very nice stroke on the ground from the goose

I not worried I more worried about my bats not overly happy with any of them at the minute it not that Iam not middling them through poor form they just feel wrong trying to use Indian shaped bats and struggling.

had an interclub match today which went well - most impressive thing was how hard the wicket was considering it is mid-april, a major tip of the hat to the groundsman!
50 runs and retired, used the laminate to test it's capabilites outside the indoor environment.......now i really see what all the fuss is about, simply fantastic bat!
Bowled well, just getting used to my longer outdoor run-up again.......plus it was an awesome day to be stood outside enjoying the sun! Fingers crossed for more sunny days like today!

No for me I want fasterbat speed before my laver which was 2 8 the bas is the heaviest I have used at 2 9.
Not a big hitter and never liked big bats

Just a suggestion - find the best looking and playing harrow bat and get it re-handled, they tend to be lighter and sound like they would suit your style of play - it may sound silly but there are some awesome bats in harrow which are light and the re-handling would bring it back up to normal SH size (well, close enough!)

well each to there own mate i would have to bat with one hand with one of those but remember a friend having an old ss turbo that was 2lb7 and flew its amazing to me what weights people use as lara reportedly used mega light bats then someone sachins size uses same weight or even heavier

Had another indoor academy 1:1 today and it felt weird going back into indoor nets after starting outdoor last week.

the only problem is because of lack of turf for the edges, we put some soil and seedlings down for it.......hit it and your kinda wide......and low

Had a net on the square today, was bloody awful, felt so weary after jogging and doing weights in an attempt to get fit. Was just awful though, need to relax. Was mowing everything unsuccessfully through leg side, walking through shots, just terrible! WORRIED!

gets worse mate, while they were doing the other side of the mat, I was rolling the soil in so it wasnt all crumbly and would form better, finished it and the roller slowed down a little, when it got to doing the 2nd side, the roller wouldnt move, the drive belt got loose and wouldnt move. we had to push it back to the shed (and having a slope that was easy, was like pushing a sled), but the other side wasnt flattened propperly. It showed today

yeah, its nervous times for me, our umpire said the rain will wash it down the slope (got to love our slope..... I think I should upload some photos to show you what i mean) and another guy said it felt like the mat wasnt down tight enough, hopefuly it should all be alright
still, its £1000 for a mat, and to get it repaired by a professonial would be £5000, saves money doing it yourself :P

first game today, and a double header because our league doesn't seem to think we have enough sundays to play on... any other game i wouldn't care about, but you don't have a double-points game on the first day of the season! anyways, we batted first, scored 141, one of the young lads hit 92 off about 70 balls, we were all out after 34 overs (out of 40). got a duck, typical, horribly low slow pitch though, spinner bowled a long-hop, ended up bottom edging it at about shin height! bowling was good, 1-27 off 10 including beating both sides of the bat about 5 times each... still lost, second to last ball with a six needed. guess what happened...

skittled a good batting line up out for 85 on a slow low wicket, i took 2 for 3 LOL (lol because im a seriously poor bowler) and got 19 not out to reach the target

bowled first change today, jus a short 2 over burst to rip out the middle order :D 2 long hops that were both thumped straight at sqare leg! to be fair tumo if i didnt hve a knack for picking up wickets then you wouldnt call me 'golden arm'

T20 Cup day Saturday, 31 not out chasing 98 and 70 not out chasing 137 second game. Pretty happy, too cold for the fielding malarkey just now though

Played Bangor University on Saturday. I was not supposed to play and had a few drinks before being brought in to sub field. We lost to strong batting line up of the University. I didn't see much of the ball.
Played yesterday. And again it was a loss. I opened the bowling (for the first time ever I add) Could of had a few wickets. The ball seemed to drop short all the time and had 2 drop catches plus I missed out on to LBW thanks to me not appealing, as I thought it was going down leg but the umpire said later I had 2 plumb ah well. Got a wicket on my last ball of my last over. I bowled very well and was told it was my last over about 5 times but was kept on due to the following over, which was very encouraging for myself. Now there is talk of me playing for the firsts on Saturday which would be fantastic but not holding my breath at all, as I am not quite ready with the bat. Which was a duck as I was run out, trying to give the strike to the better batsman. Never mind

I play for Carmel Cricket Club - I am usually in the 2nds North Welsh Division 4 but this weekend in the 1sts North Welsh Division 2. A good little club with a large gorgeous ground and the creators of the Euro Twenty20 competition which sees countries like Poland, Russia, Estonia, Croation and Slovakia battle it out. This year for the first time not being held at Carmel but in Macedonia. Gutted I can not make it!

Well, first match IN a big Gaelic school ever in It's 250 years of existence (all thanks to me).... started the day well with our opener or keeper and an other lad that played cricket crying off, leaving us with 4 lads that play.... can you see where this is going?
WRONG! lol, they batted 1st, our opening bowler got a wicket with his 1st ball, was taken off after that, same with our other opener, then same with me, so we had lads that never played cricket b4 bowling all the rest of the overs bar one which I bowled and got 2 more wickets, they Finished All out for 50. So we opened with two lads that never played before, good lad at 3 and rest lads that never played it before and we were 52-3 after 3.4 overs...... LOL!

I was all excited last night, cos I thought I'd have a game today! Alas it was not to be, the opposition called to say they couldn't put up a side, and they conceeded. I was happy and annoyed at the same time. Still can't argue with free 2nd round match :)

WELL today was eventful!
Fielded first and they got 279-4, I went for 4-0-23-0 and on about 3.4 overs I landed awkwardly diving off my own bowling, finished the over and went off for ice. Came back on a few overs left in some pain and last 'til tea. Then went to A&E about my arm (I didn't want to go). Waited a couple of hours and eventually they said minor ligament damage. Only one/two weeks out but I can't even hold a bat atm :(
We lost the game too but my bat got some use from a friend who got 64 :D

well that was a terrible final warmup. Bowling first they hit 303 in 40 overs. We only made 212. I was bowled for 2, I only thought it was 1 but guess when it hits you on the ass its not a leg bye :P
funny story, my dad wanted to borrow my goose, now I only know him as a draw cricket batsman, just get in there and block the ball (as he used to do when the league had winning/losing draws), so I said to him you wouldnt get the use out of it.......he hit 38, all but two of those were 4's, followed by a 1 and a 5. I recon a couple of them would of been 6's if he had the goose

Good start to my school season, TBH the standard is a lot lower than club level but I'm captain and it's a lot of fun. Got 89 yesterday and felt in really good nick, which is great for the first game of the season!

I hate cricket now. I play a high standard and do nothing, then I (No Swearing Please) play (No Swearing Please) standard and have no interest, all my coaches tell me to move club and guarantee me first team cricket in Div1 (best league in Ireland) but I'll have to travel about 45mins+ 4/5 times a week.... What do ya's think I should do? I have fucing passionate about cricket, I really love it, but atm I'm just so down about everything because of this and I feel like giving up, It has happened a few people at this club so I don't know.....

Travel Niall. I take it you are still young ? if you are you should push yourself to play the highest standard you can, even if you have to make a few sacrifices. You will enjoy the challenge of playing with and against better players. Better to score 30-40 in a good standard that 70-80 in a poor standard. In the long run your game will improve. Plenty of time to play for your local team when you are older. That's what i would do anyway.

lol Nail, people slag me about that because my history teacher called me that once.... Yeah I'm only 15. A few more things though.... Our youth teams probably have the best players in them and the best standard, although again they are managed poorly... We are the only club with indoor facilities in Leinster and there bloody good ones at that, and it is only 2 mins away so anytime, any day I can text someone to see if they want a net and they are the sort of club that if I left I wouldn't be welcome near it. This could also mean traveling the 45 mins some days and having to turn back with no training done due to rain ect. SO although I am sure it will help me actual playing cricket, I wont be able to practice anywhere near as much.

i also made 9 off 50 balls on a tough track against good opposition yesterday. played a bad shot to get out which i was disappointed about. bowled poorly too with figures of 0-20 off 3 overs lol.

Definitely travel, push yourself, if you are being given a chance, take it with both hands. 45 mins isn't that far, when I played a decent standard of hockey I had to travel 2 or more hours to a game...

On another note, I used my saf genus for the first time today- 65 not out chasing 92, including 36 off an over! (3 6's, 4 4's, 2 no balls and a dot!) Had a 50 partnership off 14 balls! Marvellous.

had a bad game yesterday. played against Bridgwater CC who are 2 leagues above our firsts (West of England Premier One) we were bowled out for 97, with one guy making 43! second highest score was 19 and the rest of us single figures.... they knocked them off after about 20 overs just 2 wickets down with an ex-somerset player smashing 70odd not out.....
better today, rain reduced us to 30 overs a side. played a pretty average team and we scored 220.... a mate of mine got a ton first game! i finished on 41* off about 20 odd ballls. they finished 150 odd for 6, i bowled 6 overs 1 maiden 1 wicket 19 runs. then took a sharp catch at 2nd slip so pretty chuffed!

looks like it could be a year of mainly second team cricket at my new team for me this year, after watching the first team yesterday absolutely destroy last years league champions!

Bowled 8 overs 2 for 33 would have been better had my last over not gone for 12! They made 202 from their 40 overs and we got them fairly comfortable with one lad making 125 retired. Despite making the second highest score on my first team debut last week, my 2nd team skip put me down to 8 (due to bowling) and I dint get the chance to bat. All in all a good day, well apart from the huge rain shower during our innings.

Not the best weekend for our team, Saturday we got a losing draw, I opened the batting managed to get 13 before I managed to be caught a d bowled, I blame the chap for being lanky, he just stuck one hand up and it stuck, didn't bowl nor did I have any chance of a catch.
Sunday we won, bowled the other team out for 89 from 29 overs, they weren't that strong, I opened again managed to get 36* from 65 balls we got the runs within 27 overs for the loss of two wickets. As it was a wet soggy pitch I decided to play a holding innings as it wasn't a nice pitch to bat on

We batted first got 139-10. I got a very bottom-handed 28 due to my injury batted at 8. Didn't bowl but dropped two difficult catches. They got 143-8 off 43/45. We bowled really well and when our overseas comes over soon we should be firing!

Found a little form with a dogged 43. We won by 15 runs and up to 2nd in the league. Most other games were washed out today-we didn't get a drop. Frickin cold though! Double jumper time!!

Followed up last weeks duck with a seriously tough 60 off 89 balls (bit sore this morning!) - Was the least popular man in the dressing room after electing to bat on what proved to be a stinker so at least had to do something myself! We only managed 118 but defended it relatively comfortably as the ball was ragging square at one end!

Get some ice on it dan to get the swelling down to get some movement back into the knee.....having snapped my right one at 16 and my left one at 22 iv been there :( long lay off's are never good but it depends to what extent you have done it as they tend to try and push physio to build it up rather than intrusive surgery when at all possible!

Playing 3rds and batting fucing 9!! 9!!! I should be opening for the seconds and I'm batting 9 for the 3rds. bowled 8 overs for about 40 and got a wicket. Bowled some quality balls but lots of poo, I just didn't want to be there and a broken finger didn't help. caught a good catch at long on, had to run a good bit along the boundary as it was hit dead straight and it was a certain 6 had I not caught it. Got a C&B as well. Really looking into moving club but there is so many things that have to be though out. I'm really not enjoying my cricket and I'm just so depressed cause of it!! (hence me being more of an idiot then usual!)

Got a full 45 overs in yesterday. Played 2nd's in nidderdale against goldsborough. Very average batting performance from our whole team i batted 5, scored a 1 then a loverly cover drive for 4 and the got out at long on. Kept wicket very well took a catch. Good game of banter from both team v good game. all 6 points aswell :) HCC :D

Finally got the ball rolling this season! bowled first, they were 90-1 off 20 overs (45 over matches), but we kept them down to 143, they had a shocking second half! My first 4 overs went for 20, but somehow i ended up with 12-3-32-1!
Knocked them off after 27 overs, lost 4 wickets, one of our young lads came in and hit 27 off about 14 balls, including an all-run 5! Shocker!

Definately more movement back in it today which is good. Back to hospital on Tuesday, i dont want any surgery id rather extensive physio. We will see

and i played a frustrating game on saturday, travelled 3 hours up the M5 for our game to be called off halfway through. we batted first, i opened and drove the first ball of the match through the covers for four! however our skipper was out in the 2nd over, i blocked untill the 7th untill a whacked a half-volley straight to cover. couldnt have hit it any harder.
we went to 20-4, but recovered to 177-5 untill the rain came in.....

To my surprise I managed to play 2 full games this weekend.
Saturday I played for 2s bowled 12 overs 2 maidens 35 runs for 4 wickets. I then batted at 3 and hit 25 after going in 5th ball. Got out to a really unlucky caught and bowled.
Yesterday, I was batting at 9. Went in on a damp wicket that was doing something. I was leaving the balls comfortably and then I left one that cut back in a mile and hit off stump. When I left the ball it was the keepers ball and going past by 6 or so inches. Managed to channel my anger into my bowling taking 2-9 of 6 overs with 3 maidens.
Also, my fielding was awful this weekend.

Bad times...........After winding our 1st team bowler up at nets last night I came out of the session with 2 pieces of my bat :(

Looking forward to todays game... its damp here, but game is 100% still on, and I live next door to the ground (literally, i can see the pavillion from my computer desk) and the temperature outside is 7.9 degrees, extremely dull and cloudy, but as they say, if there is grass on the wicket, lets play cricket! .... Summer has arrived :D

opposition turn up with 8 men, our opening bowler turns up late so i get a nice 6 over spell, with a dropped catch, and 4 lbw's refused, two of which were utterly plumb as can be but "going down leg" as per normal :( 0-8 of 6 overs in the end, the only bowler not to get a wicket, they were out for 43 in 22 overs and we got them in 10 for the loss of 1 wicket. (No Swearing Please) game tbh in the end :(

get a call at 12.30 saying get to the club asap, your playing for the 3rds lol. got to the ground, soaking wet. they put us in to bat, i dropped down to 4 (open for the 2nds), we lost 2 fairly early wickets. i came in hit a run a ball 39 with 2 (dont mean to brag!) massive 6's, and 5 fours, we ended on 165.... all dried up they came out and some guy whacked a ton from 60 odd balls with 7 booming sixes! was a great knock and they deserved to win....
just glad i got a game though to be honest!

We got 330-7 in 45 overs yesterday, oppo 152 ao - one of our guys got 178 off 118 balls, was out with 7 overs to go as well. The bowling was absolute pies, 3 of us holed out to square leg hitting long hops but you still have to put it away...and Matty was clinical to say the least! Funny thing is, he's not even our regular opener. Our normal opener couldn't play after scoring 70 in 42 balls last week.

Didn't bats yesterday so dad let me open in his place today. Got dropped on 1 in the second over and then finished up with 74! My highest score. So annoyed, could of easily had a ton but I played all around a straight one. I hit 10 fours and 2 sixes!

only batted 3 times this season, 19*,16* and 2. bowling is going ok; 2-0-2-3, 5-1-1-19 and 3-1-3-3 got games tuesday, friday, saturday and sunday so hopefully ill have some more runs to speak of soon!

Played yesterday but got washed out after 11 overs of constant rain. We tried our best to play but it was just not safe any more. Even though we did play 11 over I still gave out my own captain caught behind, he didn't walk and didn't agree! However the vice was at the other end and said it was out. So I'm glad we didn't play on as I didn't fancy fielding fine leg to fine leg!!

I got 109 off 94 in a team score of 269-4 off 40, one batsman got 51 off 22 and their opening bowler's figures were 11-0-98-2!!
We restricted the other team to around 150-8

threw away a league ton on sat - (out for 89) am still grumpy. We got 255 in 48 overs and cleaned up the oppo for 64 - they were 34-7 as our opening bowler got 7-12 - we gave the other bowlers a chance and some overs as the game was effectively over.
On the plus side there were comments that my SAF bat must be illegal given how hard the ball was flying to the fence! I even miscued a cover drive (ou of the screws) for 6 over the point boundary... :)

Had our first 40-over match of the season yesterday. They won the toss, and chose to bat first. We weren't fielding a full strength side, since one of our new-ball bowlers strained his hamstring in practice two days ago, and one of of our all-rounders wasnt available either. We didnt start too well, with the guy that was given the first over struggling with his line and length (he must have bowled 4 wides). The big shock of the day for me was when I was asked to open the bowling from the other end!! (I have never bowled in a league game before, let alone opened the bowling) I only bowl for fun in the nets so the batters get more deliveries to face, but apparently the coach and captain liked what they saw the last few times I bowled in the nets (it would have been nice if they had told me prior to the game). Anyway, started poorly with a couple of wides, but then settled down and gave away just a couple of runs off the bat with a couple of plays and misses, which was encouraging. However, I then lost the plot in the second over and bowled 5-6 wides and got hit over long-on for 6. Needless to say, I didnt get the ball back. It was a horrible day for cricket (5 degrees and windy/damp), and all our bowlers struggled. I think we ended up bowling 40 wides in all, but our quickest bowler who bowls first change came on and started cleaning house immediately (think he picked up 4 wickets). They ended up scoring 218 before being bowled out in the 37th over.
I went out to open the batting and was feeling good (flicked one off my legs behind square and drove another straight back past the bowler) when the rain came down :-(
Would have liked to have a good crack at that total....but oh well....its a long season and the weather will get better soon :-)

got a great cameo yesterday with the mongoose, we fielded first and on the all weather track they hit 177 in the 40, not bad. What was funny was I was asked to bowl the last over because of a muck up, great....big problem: I'm a leg spinner (wrist spin almost), with a lot of spin and I was asked to bowl on the side where my spin would go down the hill........4 wides because of the amout of spin was too much, and the worst part was I was piching it right
we hit them with no real problems, our opener hit 50 and retired, another guy hit 55, and I hit a short blast 9 with the goose, got onto the field and comments were made, first ball was a pull that just went down the hill for 4 with no effort, bear in mind it was a wet outfield aswell!, next ball straigh back over the bowlers head for 4 more....that was basicly it as I got bowled by a lefty because I cant play lefty's, need to work on it. But while waiting to find the ball I hit the guys came around and we started talking about the bat, they know about the bat and it was quite fun. One of our older players made a comment that that first shot will be in his head for a long time as I pulled a straight ball gown with little ease

midweek game tonight, 14 8-ball overs. batted first, scored 108-7, i was next man in. typical. we bowled, started off well, i came on and bowled my first 3 overs for 12. my last over went for 21! it was almost pitch black when we were fielding, horrible to see! lost in the last over. 0-33 off 4. poor in the end!

I can vouch for that. Last weekend I had. 3 ball duck, after comming out and the keeper going "hey he's got a Sangkara helmet" and then a few seconds later "and a mongoose, he's got the full kit".......that 3 ball duck wasn't a nice feeling lol

well, I'll start with my game for the 2nds, due to problems with the 1st XI regeime, two of the key bowlers for the 1st were playing for us, and yup that meant they opened the bowling.......after 10 overs there were 5 down. A key hold to the middle order helped them and after the 40 we kept them down to 129-9. We had a good bowling attack but the batting troubled me, and we lost 2 quick wickets both LBW, and the worst thing was our captain was given out when he hit the ball before it hit the pads, and our umpire gave him out! Needless to say our pinch hitter came in and just didnt wait and hit 61*, we got the 130 in 23 overs, losing just those 2 wickets
now, onto our firsts.....and despite all the problems, they hit 395-3 in their 45 overs, yup you heard that right, 3 guys hit 100's. I believe they won lol

skipper for this season now, lots of pressure! won the toss, dubious one to win, batted first. was 29-3 after 12 overs, hitting myself for my poor decision! 4 and 5 vindicated it though, putting on 90 in about 17 overs! few more useful scores, i came in and smashed a cheeky PB and a red inker, 17*! ended on 187-8.
their innings was drawn out, we had them 60-6, our new young lad took 3 wickets in about 12 balls, rolled them for 104 in the end. picked up 2-13 off 8, mopping up the tail...

league game today, our first one without rain intervening!
we scored 208 which we thought was below par. i got ran out for 5 by our suddenly 'deaf' skipper who couldnt hear my repetitive calls of NOOO!!
we started well in the field and got them 30-3, but that soon became 140-3..... however after a dramatic collapse where we took 6 wickets in about 10 overs they needed 30 odd to win. their number 11 batted really well and they got within 8 runs of out target before we took the last wicket. great game to play in, really tense at the end!

5-53 today first day of the season

we followed up our 330-7 last week with 397-9 in 45 overs. One guy scored 100 in 30 balls and was out for 116 in 35 balls with 13 sixes - he had only 4 dot balls including his wicket. We also managed to lose 4 wickets in 4 balls to go from 339-4 to 339-8, I came in at 10 having dropped myself down to let the sloggers do their work and scored 20* in 11 balls. We eventually bowled them out for 158. Ground had some of the smallest straight boundaries I've seen for a while hence our score!

Good team win for us yesterday with maximum points. Nice hard track with a bit of bounce for the bowlers, i had 12-5-16-1, at one point they had 17 runs off 17 overs, needless to say the new ball was swinging around nicely for me :D
Bowled them out for 128 and chased them down easily with 15 overs to spare!

We played a T/20 today, we batted first and got 171-3. I got 54* retired (including 2 sixes!!) another batsman got 50* retired.
They got 84 all out in reply, second time keeping for me and I "did a Kieswetter" palming it to slip :D Only 4 byes too which I though was taking the stumps out lol

Had to bowl 10 overs afterwards so it's fair to say I'm feeling the effects today!!

Cricket is a great leveller - make sure you work really hard for you first 20 runs next time you bat, don't take anything for granted so that second one can come as soon as possible!!

3rd innings in 5 games >:( and my first proper one, got 49* so slightly miffed when i found out lol. came in @ 110 for 4 off 35 overs and helped get us to 244 for 6 from our 53 overs :)
and i hit my fourth ever six :D
unfortunately we lost by 5 wickets in the end but my average is now 56 and we are doing well so im not complaining

Bowled very averagely on Saturday on a shocking pitch against a top league side who expected to win.
The ones I got in the right place were doing all sorts, and I ended up with 11-3-39-4 including 3 stumpings! Bananarama!! Even when bowling a bit of a poo spell, someone is looking down on me!

Very good day on Saturday 12-5-30-6 including a hat trick didn't get a bat as we won by 9 wickets. Nice little spread in the Sunday paper regarding the game but they didn't mention the hat trick but a good report none the less.

Only played three league games so far, one was cancelled as well. So far i've had very little luck, bowled 12-5-16-1 and 12-4-18-1 - dropped catches, biased umpires etc etc, same old fast bowlers union excuses.......wickets are coming at the other end which is a good thing, but it's frustrating when build up all the pressure and get bugger all in return, still the team is doing well so cant complain!

why is everyone so disappointed?
assuming that most of you are between 13-17 years old (with 2 or 3 exceptions) you aren't supposed to make 50s or 100s every week in mens cricket, if you were that good you would be playing county or national level. if you average between 20-30 then thats a good platform to build on as you get older.

I agree with Mr Cricket - an average of around 30 over a league season is a really good result - you cannot compare a test match average of 40 (where batsman can bat for 2 days and score 200+) to a league game of about 50 overs a side.
The only caveat being once you get to 30 in an innings really concentrate hard so you can push on and make the most of where you are. As Roy Fredericks said "you never know when the runs will stop, so score when you can".

to be fair i dissagree with you a bit guys... my best ever year was in 2008 when i was 15 for most of it. playing mens cricket i scored 600 odd league runs... but not going so well 2 years on....

Took my best figures ever today - 8-23 from 6 overs. Then made 24* in knocking off the target of 44. So a good day for me today!

successfully negotiated/delegated their 85 mph Pakistani professional today! tried to bounce me and everything!
was due to bat 6 but whilst having a wee wee when the 4th wicket fell so i was demoted to 7 (which happened to mean i went in next ball as 2 wickets fell in 2 balls!)
only 20 odd not out but very happy with my first experience of playing against an international cricketer, nice to think that in january this man was bowling at the likes of misbah ul haq in the final of the pak domestic 4 day comp and today he bowled at me... and couldnt budge me at that!

I've had a fairly ordinary start to the season with the bat. Scored 5 last week before getting c&b.
Scored 5 again this week before leaving an inswinger that demolished my off stump! More disappointed with this dismissal as I'm usually good at judging the line & length.
Picked up two wickets with my offies, so all's not bad!

No game Saturday because of rain. Played yesterday, we hit 210 all out. I opened and got of thr mark with a no ball six in the first over. Got to 13 when I had a ball that swung away in the air but jagged back in and bowled me. Had a direct hit to run someone out and then bowled 2 overs for 5 runs at the end. And we won, bowled them out.

We didn't play Saturday, I was captain yesterday against my most hated team and I was rubbish as captain! We lost by 4 wickets and 2 overs to go when we posted 197 on a dodgy pitch. I got 19 runs and 2-38 :/
I have a game today to put things right, thankfully I'm not captain but I'll take some pain killers and get 100 hopefully :)

Had a pretty good game yesterday. Our first 20/20 of the season:
They won the toss, and batted first. Scored 166.
I opened the batting, and we had a good start. My opening partner got off to a flyer, and I fit nicely into the supporting role hitting the occassional boundary. We
put on a stand of about 55 when he got run out. We were left needing about 30 runs from the last 3 overs, with 7 wickets in hand when we had to stop play due to bad light. I didnt get a look at the scorebook when we came off, but someone said I was somewhere between 45 and 50.
Would have been nice to knock off the last 30 runs, but oh well....it felt good to spend some time in the middle.
My scores so far this season: 2* (match abandoned due to rain), 1, 45ish* (bad light stopped play).

last 2 games played yesterday and today, was put batting at 9 in both games when i'm an opener.... bit pissed off as some of the people batting before me were pretty shocking... i didnt bat in either games.
got a direct hit run out and a wicket yesterday, and took 2 catches keeping today though :)

haha thats the worst thing, both these teams are teams i play only friendlies for! today i arrived about 15 minutes late because i was coaching kids all morning at the club i play league for, so they didnt know whether i was gona turn or not.... but yesterday i was rather annoyed. i was next in with 5 overs to go, both batsmen blocked out....
although i wouldnt mind not batting on saturday.... lol!

Interesting game today against Bristol West Indians. They racked up 303 from their 45 overs!
We only had 2 out and out seamers, one went for 93 from 13 overs and the other 60 from 11! I bowled 12 overs for 89 with 2 wickets! One of which was former Gloucestershire 2nd XI player and current West Brom footballer Reuben Reid so was happy with that!
We then went out to bat against Reid who has apparantly been clocked at 80mph, along with another opener who looked quicker. I was pooing myself but somehow got 59... lots of sledging in the field and a lot of bouncers! We were all out for 215 so lost by loads....

Ian nice to see they didn't just sledge us in the t20 game then, not the nicest bunch but good quality players down there on a rock hard track....seem to go off like a rocket with their batting as well! In fairness they scored 205 against us in 20 overs lol

Season going from bad to worse bad luck early season gloved one that popped on wet pitch nicked one trying to leave ball and nicked in the last couple of games at full wide deliveries in first over as opener philosophy if its there to be hit hit it if its 1st ball or last ball, mind you may need to go back to blocking annoying when others play and miss and get runs, anyway time off as not sure wjhen I will play again as wife having operation

Played against ITV's Jed Pitman today. His team got 204-10 and we got it with 6 overs and 4 wickets left after going at 1.8 for the first 10 overs. I got 35 and 2-40 off 8 (including Pitman)
Still annoyed I didn't make a decent score this weekend :/

We won our 1st game on Saturday. We got 145/10 of 37.4 overs. I got 5no.
We bowled them out for 70 of 26.4 overs. I got 1-5 of 3.4 overs.

Went to a city 2 hrs away for a 4-over match yesterday. Our bowling let us down big time and they amassed 319-9 in 40 overs. We put on a modest batting performance and were bowled out for 198 in the 39th over. I opened the batting and 'second top-scored' with 21. The top score was 56. Their bowling was nothing special. I lost concentration and gave my wicket away to an offie who tossed it up. I swiped across the line and it went straight up. The bowler took an easy catch.
So far, this season, Im really enjoying my cricket. We've had 1 NR, 1 win and 2 losses. Four games into the season, my avg. is 31 which is the highest its been in the last few seasons.

and hardly batted. high score 11
got 4 ducks so far this year.

OH MY DAYS. We got bowled out for 67 on what I can only describe as rolled grass. The outfield was so long it must have been a good 3 inches long. They got 68 for 4 wickets down as we bowled poorly.

yeh thats the only issue i guess the paint will chip but the shell is fine...hence the refurb service were planning on offering at the end of the season so people can get it back all shiney and new :) or even in a different design/colour if desired!

could be the same as what i had 2 years ago, everytime i dived on my knee or put pressure on my knee it would swell up like a balloon! i had a quick injection which sucked out all the fluid from under my knee cap and has been fine since....
and we lost again today, we scored 246 from 45 and lost by 3 wickets. i opened and hit 22 from 10 before bowled off a grubber! then took 3 wickets for lots of runs!!

another easy win for us. Having bowled the oppo out for 59 last week, this week we bowled the Oppo out for 85 in 37 overs, we did it in 8.4 overs for 1 down. Opener got 62 in 29, Number 3 22 in 13. Looking forward to a week where we bat first again (and moving out of Wetherby Div 6 asap!).
Sunday got rained off at tea with the oppo making 206 in 35, though we fed them 80 runs in part time bowling.

Played in a loss yesterday, we hit 207 in our 40, this was with two guys hitting 50s. I played a slow 14, in 10ish overs, which is actully good for me, not what you expect from a #5-6 with a goose but I decided not to play the flail every shot and played a normal game, also with 3 and 4 not performing it was good to steady the ship. The only one I middled I was droped at long on and got caught 7 overs later with basicly the same shot from a diferent bowler, never hit it cleanly. Just to show the power of the goose, against their 14 year old bowler I played a small prod away to him between mid on and long off, he wasn't that fast but the power of the goose turned a 1 into an easy 2
in our defence, one of our players discoclated his thumb, he went to sit down and a vet from the other team walked up and popped it back into place, ouch!
Special day tomorrow, dads birthday and in a piece of irony he's getting a mongoose! (he gave me one for my 21st) Same specs as mine but a 2.8. After using mine he enjoyed it very much. Will be quite funny if on Saturday we are both batting at the same time with our gooses!!

also played for two's today, against a team who were promoted last season and have the odd tactic of inserting the opposition and then batting out their 47 overs later for a draw! we were 20 for 3 (i was 4) and me and my mate put on 80 odd, i toed the worst ball i faced to point on 37, gril-height wide outside off >:( we got to 223 for 9, declared on 50 overs so we had 50 to bowl them out, got them out for 100 or so with 15 overs left, they never even tried to get the runs!

After 3 league 50's this reason I finally converted one today :) . We got 306-5dec off 49 overs, I scored 178. We managed to bowl them out after 50.3 overs, only 3 balls left. We won by 170 odd. Marvellous. Off to buy some more beers!

Finally got league runs! Got 110 today, first league ton!
Played for the 2's to 'get runs' and they batted first, got 204-8 off 45, one bat getting 98*, not much else, mainly 10'/20's. We batted, I opened and we got off to 6 an over for 6 overs so a good start. Wickets kept falling cheaply mirroring their innings and I knew I'd be playing the role of their opener who got 98*. I got out caught at long on needing 5 to win. Still, 4 bowling points and max batting points, can't complain :D

we had Brislington today, they hit 242 and we chased them down losing just 4 wickets. i hit 21 and took 3 wickets. a mate of mine has never hit a league ton and was so unlucky to finish 99*.... i was probably more upset than he was!

sunday league yesterday, we played against a club who's 1st's are 2 divisions above our 1st's, and their aussie 1st team opening bowler played! they hit 242 and we only managed 157, i got 13 before i got a good'un from the aussie :(

Doug Bollingers LBW shout was an exact carbon copy of what happened to me yesterday, but i was given out! Outside The Line!

Got 38 yesterday batting at 3 in the twos. Our opener got out for 15 so i went in and me and the other opener got us up to 150 off 30 overs, hitting 89 and me with 38. We both then got out and the lads got us up to a very respectable 303-7 off 50 overs. We ended up bowling them all out off 30 overs and claimed the full 24 points.
I then opened the nock today and got 93, only to be caught on the boundary off a chest high full toss which i toe'd streight down deep squares throat: :@ should have been a no ball! But we posted 176-9 off our 40 overs and then bowled them out for 160. Happy Days :)

600 runs scored in a day is good to watch, the catch on 0 was an absolute sitter must have been his lucky day. To be honest we thought 300 was about par on that pitch before the game given the short boundries. Slightly curious as to why you guys left your oppener on for the full 13 overs straight up ?

yeah would have been a great game to watch for the neutral! and yeah that catch really should have been taken, we were really dissapointed when the number 3 didn't walk though as he admitted to our keeper that he gloved it afterwards, considering our number 3 walked on 50 when the umpire wasnt going to give him...
and a few people said about our opener bowling 13 overs straight, aswell as our first change bowler up the hill who also bowled 13. they said that i should have come on earlier with spin, but when i came on both batters were in an i got smashed!
credit to you guys though, all batters played really well. and your skipper who came back in with 3 stitches in his head!

Yeah the opener was getting some good pace and bounce then our number 4 hit him around a bit and he started to look tired would have taken him off then and brought him back later to be honest. Our skip is pretty brave, he took the hit and didnt even flinch. Did you notice he went back in to bat without a helmet again :). A catch down the leg side is a pretty (No Swearing Please) way to get out so i think its a bit different to an outside edge, although fair play to your guy if he walked. I seem to remember a couple of good LBW shouts that wernt given for us but thats 2nd team cricket.

yeah its a bad way to be out, but it would have changed the game completely. although if the plonker on our team had taken that catch then it could have been a different story! and don't get me started on LBW's in our league, getting beyond a joke now, Stapleton, Bedminster and Brislington have all screwed us over.... although i turned down 2 close ones on saturday. were you the bowler, up the hill?

Playing for 2's today, batted first and got 236-10. I got 49 off 54 and our skip got 100 off 100. They got 212-10 and I got 7-2-31-2 :)

We lost in an annoying way today,
We batted first hit 184 for 5 from 43 overs, I managed to hit 76 from 40 overs, Long old innings in the heat,
They got the runs in the 44th over for the loss of 8 wickets, Our bowling was terrible, They thought the best line of attack was short balls on a pitch that made the ball sit up to be smashed with covers or pulled to the rope,
No game today, I just hope next saturdays league game is better.

My team bowled Winscombe out for 142 today. I got 2.3-1-4-2 and 18* off 8. Mr Ayrtek took a good catch at long on moving 2 yards and diving to make it look good ;)

Weekend was good for me got 35 on saturday but then was given lbw when insideded onto pad :( was not happy, but today in 1st cup got 16* hit wining runs and into the semi finals of the cup :) HCC :D

game yesterday, struggled with my lead arm cause i've pulled a muscle, 16-0-76-3, rough time of it, one of their lads got a ton and i had him dropped off me on 45 and 80! Sitters as well! They got 217-5 off 45, and then we were all out 136, I was given out to and LBW when I was hit outside leg and 2 yards down the track...! Shocker!

Went in yesterday on 16 for 3 after 5 overs which then became 30 for 5 after 10. I was there at the end on 90* and took us to 203 for 7. That should have been plenty however our bowlers managed to mess it up along with couple dropped catches! Was terrible everyone of the opposition players batted like they would be more suited to playing at wimbledon! Oh well.

first ever score of 150+ today in a freindly, day off work, 1030 start, declaration game, batted number 4 and made 164 out of 304-6 dec. off 56 overs, leaving the oppo 34 overs to bat out for the draw which they did, finishing on 169-3 with one of their guys ending 70 odd not out. delighted and exhausted, back to work tomorow :(

Well done Mr C - it is a great feeling going really big in an innings - that feeling of knowing where the bowler is going to bowl turns into the feeling that the bowler is going to bowl at you where you want him to bowl so you can smash it... only happens when you go really big :)

ahhhhhh! U16 game today, got bowled by a (No Swearing Please) ball on 85, put every one like it away for 4 but tryed to nurdle it for a single thinking i was on 98. when my partner got to 50 i worked out what i was on roughly from the total score but i forgot to count extras!
we got 219-2 the day after chasing down 203, good for a team thats only passed 150 twice before in two years!

Not that good tbh, due to an knee problem I decided to focus on friendly games this season.
As my club is mainly focusing on league I only played two games for them. Went quite good, took some wickets, scored plenty of runs but I noticed that the friendship in the team disappeared. All the guys that aren't been selected for league end up in the friendly team nagging and complaining even trying to coach me but getting out in their first over. Mostly for ducks :-)
So I joined a second team where I play 1-2 friendlies a week and this gives me plenty of satisfaction. Altho there are still some naggers in that team as well.
SO might be focussing on rugby this year.

Out of around 90 members at our club we are struggling to put 3 teams out of our normal 4. Our 2nd team is missing possibly 10 players. Quite disappointed I've been over-looked for our 1's after scores of 110, 0 and 49 in the last 3 innings when our 1's have a weakened team tomorrow, when I started the season in the 1's averaging 24.33 :(

awful day at cricket! we turned up and the our opposition were fully kitted up in the nets bowling flat out as we arrived (with just 9 players...) we batted first and were 87-1, only to be bowled out for 103 (8 wickets down).
i only made 4 from 20 balls, batting down the order as we felt that because of the 9 man situation it would be good giving some other guys a chance in the top 5. then kept wicket and took a catch but we still lost by 9 wickets. all over by 5.30pm....... :(

yeah it seems that way! and its just a mixture of different things, skipper is at silverstone, few more couldnt travel due to working in the morning, couple on holiday. it was really weird that we couldnt just get two fielders to play as we usually find someone to fill in.

got in yesterday on a rock hard pitch with a rapido outfield, got to 20 against some good bowling, then a young legspinner came in to their attack with everyone on the boundaries except one at cover and one at midwicket. half tracker outside off stump which sat up and waited to be hit, i smashed it straight at cover, didnt even have to move! g-u-t-t-e-d!

played one of the most sctrachy innings i have ever played yesterday... made 10 having batted for an hour and 8 minutes!! every ball i hit was straight to the fielder :/ then ran myself out stupidly... not a good day

i got 89 yesterday in the horrible heat, managed to get a dash of sunstroke and as the saying goes i believe i "CHUNDERED EVERYWHAA" later. we are top of our division and lost to bottom of the division >:( mainly due to the captain but lets not go there :D
im very pleased with how much ive improved over the end of last season and the start of this, im now disapointed with my last two scores of 85 and 89 as i feel i should of pushed on for 100.

havnt wrote on here for a while! i got 83 last sunday in a friendly, but didnt go to plan today as we were bowled out for 100 odd chasing just 200...... i only scored 4 (caught by David Graveney's son, who was using one of Flintoff's old Woodworm Flames....), but i took the best catch of my life keeping wicket, plucked the ball in front of first slip one-handed! friendly tomorrow :D

Played a timed game today, we batted first and hit 307 in 50 overs, I hit a small 11 in a 63 partnership, slightly upset as I hit to great 4's with the goose that felt so nice on the bat that I could of got a 6 if I put more stroke in it
we won the game by taking the last wicket in the last over, our off spiner taking 6-36 and a very bloody finger, he was gripping and ripping so much the seam riped his skin on his finger

Oh bugger! My season is unravelling fast!
Having had problems with my bowling all season, I tore my calf last week and am hobbling around on one leg.
We are so short of players, I played this week,and bowled of 1 pace - it was slow, and largely ineffective, which has not cheered me up at all - I also can't move in the field.
...and whilst we are on the subject, I'm a definate tail ender with the bat - so I'm struggling for runs.
So - in conclusion, the easy solution is; lots of physio on the calf, lose 3 stone fast for the bowling and lots of sessions on the bowling machine for the batting - all in the next week!!!!
God I love and hate this game all at the same time!!!!!!!!!!

Won today in Sunday league. Beat Sherston by 5 wickets (nice team and ground). They got 158-6 off 40, I got 7.2-2-24-2 including my first c&b.
We were 30-5 in reply including dodgy triggering! I got 5 then triggered LBW but reckon I was LBW before which wasn't given. Then a 129 partnership saw us home.
100th game in men's cricket for me and got 1968 runs :)

interesting weekend, played on saturday, bowled first, 45 over match, 19-4-69-5, my last 3 overs went for 34 as well... at one point i had 4-2-10-4! they got 190, we were all out 110, went in at 9, faced 4 overs of balls well outside leg stump, and massive full tosses outside leg that i could barely get bat on, then when their opener came on he got one to rise sharply off a length and got caught behind for 2!
sunday, bowled first, took 2 wickets in 2 balls in my first over including bowling someone round their legs! then one of their 1st teamers came in and hit 71 off naff all, 6-1-32-2, bit expensive! 173 all out. we then put on 113 for the first wicket, and then stumbled over the line, 176-4 in the end! good weekend with the ball for me before i go on holiday for 2 weeks!

ScOred today for our 2's against bedminster, we hit 262-6 with top score of 127. They only managed 238-9 so comfortable win really. I was involved in a little off-field argument as they accused one of our bowlers of throwing, when in the 2 years we have played them, they have had about 3 blatent chuckers!

batted at 4 for the sunday 1's got a cheeky 75 before running myself out "for the team" so to speak, 244 total bowled the out for 150 odd with ten overs left, bit boring today for the sheer lack of banter! :( but closing in on the 1000 for the season, 190 to go in about 9 innings :)

Today. Played against a team which has a few Saturday premier league players in it. I opened the bowling and bowl without luck. Bowled 12 overs and took 1-59. Whilst fielding at cover I got a ball that took off and hit me in the chin, that just kept on bleeding. Also ran down a slope going for a diving catch and landed on the ball and citing up my arm. I had a massive dead leg! Had to bowl out my overs and then open the batting.
I hit 76 in 23 scoring shots, I hit my 50 when the team were one 67. I hit 14 4's and 2 6's. I was out in the 18th over, I threw away a ton!

Our Sunday league team beat top of the league today easily, we got 225-5 off 40 and they were all out for 97, I didn't play but happy days!

I am also having an ordinary season, 548 runs from 21 innings @ 27.4, Only 1 50 to my name this year, alot of starts by no finishing,
I have had 6 wickets @ 16.8 bowling about 15 overs.

We lost today with me as captain :( They got 185-8 off 40 on a pudding and we got 131-10 off 32. I only conceded 4 byes keeping for the 4th time but dropped a sitter, not costly in the end though. Got 29 with the bat from 20 needing 7 an over coming lower down at 6

bad day today!
travelled with the 2nds to a game that is usually an hour and a half away. due to heavy traffic it took just over 3 hours!! only for the game to be called off after 40 overs bowled..... and another 2 hour journey home.

I'm seriously thinking about giving up, but want to get to 1000 this season first.
Got 8 today and was caught at point, one handed dive which flew out the middle. The guy who caught it came up to me when I was walking off and said 'unlucky mate, we needed your wicket' which made me feel a bit better.
We were 138 all out from 42/45 and they were 61-1 off 16 when the heavens opened and we ran from the lightening lol.
Oh yeah, dropped two sharp slip catches in 3 balls in the opening over. Bad times

Pitiful game yesterday, was in the order at number 8 which gave me vertigo as it is, then our number 6 didn't turn up on time so I was down at 7! I thought I'd get a bit of a wait, but I was in at 20-5 after 12! Only made 13, but in a total of 91 where the top score was 39 I was fairly impressed, chopped on a long-hop from a spinner that grubbed, was gutted! Bowled 6 overs, 0-18 as well, didn't have a lot of luck!

kind of an odd game for me. We were dominating so I was handed the ball to bowl my leggies.....verry bad this season and the first ball showed it. Next ball was down leg and full toss, he hit it straight to deep square.....I couldnt believe I got a wicket out of THAT. Was finally getting it all to click and finished with 3-45......off 5.3 overs :S all 3 of them were full tosses and whats worse is thats my 2nd best bowling figures ever

Finished off our Sunday league season with our 13th win of the season having sealed the title 2 weeks ago. Quick fire 24 and more shockingly a wicket!!!! 3 balls 2 runs and a bowled....think when I commented that's out when the ball was halfway down (to the umpires amusement) may have been a bit presumptuous haha but seeing as I thought my bowling career was over I was more than happy :)

Sunday league game today against ardleigh green. Turned up late as coming straight from football... Got there and we were fielding : ??? So missed the first 4 overs they managed 163 all out..... I opened up and we were on 45-0 after 8 overs and cruising, I then got lbw for 39( 8x 4's) the aytek was really flying :)

Yeah the wicket at Clevedon is a good'un! I would love to bat on it every week. We are very lucky in our league to play on decent wickets like that...
And yeah Bristol are a good side. I have a mate who keeps wicket for the 1's, don't know if he played against you or not, his name is Adam Jones... And their Somerset 2's player is a guy called Charlie Walker, I trialled with him at Somerset he's a good player.

Charlie only joined them a yr our so ago as he played for failand and portbury with his dad....not a bad player, a few of the youngsters from our club have sadly moved to Bristol as most private school kids seem to do after using our youth set-up :(

Good weekend for me. On saturday our seconds hammered them in a 1st vs 4th match, after skittling them out for 13 (yes I couldnt believe it either!), myself and my younger brother knocked off the runs with relative ease; I finished 9* and move ahead at the top of the league. On sunday, I made 47 (up there with the better knocks Ive played all year, on what was a shocker of a track) before slapping to backward point, we ended up 120 all out; not batting our full 40 overs. Our bowlers pulled us through to victory with only 6 needed off the last over, our skipper bowled 6 perfect yorkers and we won, progressing to the league final! Great weekend!

Best birthday present ever. 1st Vs. 2nd for the title and they batted first, restricted to 112 all out. I got 1.1-0-4-1 and the best 29 I've ever got, feel like I'm coming back to form! Middled most of my shots, all along the floor and some fulfilling drives. Very, very happy!!

I umpired the 1s today, who where involved in a relegation dogfight.
We won quite comfortably in the end. we where struggling at 45-5 at one stage, but recovered to 186 A/O.
Bowled the oppo out for 78.
After ringing the other sides in the league for an hour, we received the great news that we stayed up by the skin of our teeth!

scored for the 2nds today... bad, bad game! was basically our 3rd team playing and the other side were pretty strong today. we batted first and slipped from 38-0 to 83 all out. other side knocked them off in 14 overs and we were all done by tea! went up to watch most of the 3rd team game!

Fielded first today, they put on 149, one of their lads getting the ugliest fifty I can remember! Really struggled today, 10-1-38-1, I bowled 6 really good overs, turning the ball quite a bit, 2 okay overs, but then bowled 2 overs of absolute dross, slightly wet ball but no excuse, was awful! We knocked them off for 5 wickets in reply, I was next man in! c'est la vie...

Dont think the wickets there have helped us since coming home, another weekend and another batting collapse. I snuck down the order hoping not to have to bat as Im stinking ill and we were only chasing 102, soon we were 40odd-6 and I had to put on 60odd with our usual no11 to win the game - tho as ever I got out with 2 needed to win, not got a single red-inker in 2010 >:(

We posted 156-8 one batsman getting 40* and I got 31. They got it with 4 overs left, one batsman getting 69*.
Tom's dad gave everyone a masterclass in one hand diving catches, unfortunately I was the batsman.

We were chasing 148 and I had to watch miserably as he and the other opener both got their fifties, I came in at 109 and walked off 3 overs later with 25 not out, meaning I ended up 30 something runs behind :(

scored today for our 3rd's at Bagborough (Skully's ground). We needed to win to stay up, the other team batted badly, treated it like a 2020 and were bowled out for 87. We knocked them off pretty easily, 3 wickets down.

Last game today, we batted first, 28-0 off 21 at one point, but we ended up with 125-2, opening partnership of 102. We were playing to stop them getting points today I suppose, we're low end of table but they're pushing for promotion and they're absolute tw*ts (putting it mildly). We came out onto the field, and we had them 34-8, our 57yr old opening bowler had figures of 11-5-14-5, including his first ever first team hattrick, over 40yrs of playing! I came on with them 40-8, 3.5-0-17-2, they had one guy who made 40, had him caught at cover playing across the line, and they were AO 64. Not a bad game, they took us for 44 all out earlier on in the season so it's a nice bit of revenge! Plus they weren't the nicest of guys, they left as soon as the game finished, not even staying for a pint!

got my first ever ton today against Bishop's Waltham. Opened the batting chasing 224 from 40. I opened with another guy who was being considered for opening next season(it's out of me and him) and to see him go for 2 made me realise that it was my turn to put my name forward. Me and our number three consolidated things before he went and I had to take the lead roll. Ended up with 104* as our the skipper scored the winning runs off of the 2nd to last ball. Such a good feeling and can't wait to next season!! Funny thing was that I used my mate's GM Icon LE. may have to enquire about a purchase ;)

100th innings today and by far the worst innings I have ever had. Managed 33 from around 40 balls. 8 scoring shots and 32 plays and misses. Dropped 3 times and ran out my opening patner.
Got 2-35 with the ball, dropped a catch in the field but ran the non-striker out from backward point with a direct hit, middle peg :)

Very weird game today. We were bowled out for 136, I got 11 batting at 7 and opened the bowling 5-1-24-2 including a wicket maiden first over.
They were 80-2 off 12 then were all out for 127 in the 24th over.

good win today, bowled side out for 140, got early wickets then two of there lads put on 70 odd, then i got a direct hit aiming at one stump to get rid of one, and the other one perished off my bowling ;), caught mid on, i also took 2 catches, we helped them get to 140 after they were 110-9, some generous bowling form some "spinners". Then we knocked them off losing one wicket inside 23 overs. Good times!

well thats my season finished today :(
probs got around 400-500 run's (just saturday) properly nearly 800-900 in all forms of the game
and around 35-40 victims with the gloves

Finished the season with back to back 50's across the weekend. 58no on Saturday, coasting, then came the rain. 79 on the Sunday, very tame getting out just chipped the spinner to mid on, after launching him a few times onto the clubhouse
nice way to finish, but i bet you wished the form came earlier! happened to me last year!

not really bowled all season and then was called up on to bowl 10 overs straight through yesterday after one hell of a breakfast. won the league, watched by forum member 'Tumo'

After scoring over 1000 runs this season in all cricket, taken 30 catches and got around 20 wickets, my season ended yesterday with a firstball nought after the ball clipped my thighpad only to crash into the top of leg stump! My first duck of the year, in my last innings. On the positive, I kept wicket very well, 3 catches and 2 byes in 42 overs the majority of which was standing up to medium pacers; and could be a possible job for me next season, Our 2nds were promoted, our 4ths promoted and every other team (1s, 3s and 5ths) stayed up comfortably in their leagues.

Season finished, 19 games, 19 innings 660 runs at 41.25. High score of 95*. Bowling took 18 wickets in the 10 times i bowled.
Cup run was a good one, we ended up winning the regional cup against our local rivals on there home ground!! Seeing the pictures of us jumping up and down with the cup infront of there pavillion was very sweet! In the cup i managed 174 runs in 4 games and 6 wickets.
A good season alround for me, and if it wasnt for my ligament going i reckon i might have cleared 800 runs as i missed the last 2 games on absolute belting tracks.
Next seasons targets is 30 wickets and 1000 runs in saturday cricket only 6months and 3 weeks to go!!! And i cant wait!

36 wickets in the season for me, down on last year but I changed clubs half way through so lost about 4 games worth there, and holiday was booked weekend to weekend so lost 5 there too! Also my old clubs records have been deleted as they dropped out the league, so had to go from scorebooks. Didn't have time to work out average from them, but I have my overall average for that club, so can work it out. Average of 16.77 with one game left with the ball. With the bat, not so good, but that's unsurprising. 53 runs at 10.6, not too shabby! Had a few poor decisions, but nothing unexpected at my level, and spent most of my time watching other people throw wickets away at the other end, or coming in with the slog on! Won yesterday, took 2-28 bowling on a pudding of a wicket, had to really fizz it through bowling left arm spin, rather Underwood-esque!

after a poor couple of weeks getting starts and getting out, i needed 147 with 2 games left yesterday. Got 86 at 3 in 20 overs chasing 163 with 40 over innings. Also should of had a direct hit run outfrom deep mid-off at keepers end but oppo umpire cheated :@
managed to hit the far set of stumps from the boundary next over too :D
now need 61 in 1 game for 1000 adult runs...

Indoor season started tonight and we won which is always good. We got 143 in our 12 overs and they finished on 75.
I had a contribution of 16. 1-11 from my 2 overs and 27 with the bat.

Lol if M Caplan is playing he bowled 11 overs for 98 against us. And if he didn't injure his hand we reckon he would've batted top 4 too. He's was their skipper.

played against a team who had about 4 adults, 2 15/16yr olds and 5 12yr olds! I needed 61 from today and tomorrow for 1000 adult runs in the season, skipper made me retire on 70 today so good that i got the runs and bad that i couldnt have a shot at buzz's top score! :D
came down with something while batting and couldnt field- came home after a bit cos felt like absolute (No Swearing Please). :/

I've just turned 17 so I was 16 most of the season lol, youngest person at my club too. I have batted 42 times though!!! Thank you.

aha fair play mate, i think ive batted 30 adult innings for 1009 runs, 4 U16 innings for 138 runs. hopefully ill be a regular in the 1's by the end of next season rather than in the 2's. Unfortunately my sat/sun run ratio is heavily weighted to the direction of sunday!
gonna be such a good feeling when my names on the 1000 runs board :D

My last game today. We're playing Easton-In-Gordano and I could throw the ball from one end of the pitch to the other. As a batsman I should enjoy the small boundaries :)

Had an easy victory tonight in indoor against one of the worst sides I have played we knocked 194 of our 18 overs with the opposition bowling 46 wides and 38 no balls (I was out hit roof lol) one over was 26 balls long with 28 off it none off the bat
Then we got them all out for 60 a nice 3-0-20-3 so not bad

Interesting final weekend:-
Interclub game saturday, last over win and plenty of banter. Had an amp on the ground to play music as each batter went to the wicket - some cracking tunes. Then we drank our fines money for the season at the pub and had our end of season awards.
However, the fun really started sunday....
We were playing in a T20 final and batted first. First ball of the game was hooked for six over the pavilion, but things went downhill from there. We were 9-4 off 3 overs and 24-7 off 8. Thanks to our number 9 crashing 50 in 30 balls we scored 111 in 20. The oppo were 50-2 off 10 but couldn't hit boundaries and finished 99-7. Won by 12 runs and I got a nice big trophy to hold :-)
