Anyone else going? And who do you think will win?
My money is on a Somerset Vs. Essex final with Somerset winning :)
-
I would have loved to go. But I don't want to miss cricket!
Somerset to win!
-
I would also back Somerset and Essex reaching the final but you can never rule out Notts or Hampshire. Will be an interesting day of cricket!
-
Yeah too right! Shame I'm missing my cricket but it will be an awesome day! Can't wait to see Hales and Pollard and people like that bat!
-
Im going to ! Travelling with the essex boys comon you eagles !! Ten doeschate is back, I will bet my life on it that we will win!
-
Notts to win it for me but Essex and Somerset could also easily win it, don't see Hampshire wining it so get your money on them lol.
-
Ahaa its always the way isn't it Rich!
-
Looks like you might get to see Broad/Swann. Cant see Hampshire picking KP, but still looks like your gonna get one hell of a day of cricket!

Correct.

"Pietersen was one of four England players released from duty to take part in the Friends Provident t20 finals day at Rose Bowl on Saturday, but whereas Alastair Cook, Graeme Swann and Stuart Broad were welcomed back into the fold by their respective counties, Essex and Nottinghamshire, Pietersen's employers Hampshire announced that they had no intention of selecting the batsman."

Wazza should be happy :)
-
We will see today WazzaAfridi ! Essex to win, we beat u at ur own place at taunton and u were lucky to play at 2pm on a sunday at essex instead of a friday night ! I am now leaving to the rose bowl but when we win I will go straight to the computer and maybe giv ya a little message ;)
-
iv got a gut instinct that razzaq might fire for hants.
-

guess u'll have to wait til next year, and my prediction with razzaq was right ;)
-
bravo was well worth the £10,000.
-
I had a feeling yesterday that Hants and Somerset would be in the final, with Somerset winning!
But being a Hants born fella, I would have prefered Hants to win!! Doubt it'll happen but fingers crossed!
-
as much as i want somerset to win, iv got a feeling that notts will beat us somehow.
im not going to this year's final day, i went to edgbaston last year and somerset lost in the final.
maybe if i don't go today, somerset will go one better!
-
bravo was well worth the £10,000.
Haha, that fee is ridiculous!
Quite harsh the fact that Pattinson, Notts leading wicket taker has to be dropped because England International Broad has to come into the team. The best thing would be now if Pollard smacked him for 6 sixes :)
Regarding the game, I hope Somerset win :)
-
Somerset to bat!

i feel sorry for pollard after what cork did to him.

You beauties!! :D
-
What a game!

Couldn't ask for a better and closer final!
-
both side full of overseas players/kolpack rubbish
-
both side full of overseas players/kolpack rubbish
and trescothick :)
-
And butler who I thought was outstanding in the semi's! Jimmy Adams is good too!
-
I think that the commentators were spot on -Hampshire got it right with their mix of a few older experienced players, mixed with 3 or 4 younger talented players! And left out KP too, which was a brave decision.
-
Somerset were the best side.
a)Had Cork not got annoyed by the awesome hitting of Pollard and a result try to kill him, we could have posted a score higher than 175.
b)Had Kieswetter managed to hit the stumps in the final over of the match, Somerset would have gone home as winners.
c)Had the man at square-leg managed to catch Sean Ervine in the penultimate over.
d)Had Pollard been able to bowl, or even field.
e)Somerset would have also been 5 down had Cork not been a ~#@~
In my opinion, Somerset were robbed.
And Dominic Cork is one heck of a >@{~@}?
-
If Somerset threw the ball to the bowlers end last ball and took the bails off wouldn't Christian have been out cos he ran and the runner didn't
-

I was praying that Christian did something like what Pakistan did to New Zealand in the West Indies.
2 runs off one ball, i've seen that scenario before.
-

What a game and yeah what a mistake under pressure.

Hmmm, sour gapes and sore loser!!!
-
@petehosk - You would say the same thing if your team made it to the final and lost in two consecutive years!!!
-
a...if i was a quick bowler i would try and hurt batsman simple....
b...so he missed the stumps lots of big if's
c..so he made up for it with a magnificent stop 2nd to last ball to take it to a last ball
d..had adams blasted more runs like he has done most of the season......lots of if's
e..is it not cork job to win cricket matches????
in my opinion as a lancastrian nowt to d o with me good game best side won......
cork like him or lofe him he has been a very good cricketer in his time
cork is hardly rapid is he...
-
WazzaAfridi - Cork was doing his job a a bowler. Notts had shown earlier that Pollard didn't like short pitched bowling and as a player who can change the game Hampshire were right to exploit this weakness. You can't criticize Cork for bowling at a batsmans weakness! That's the point of a bowler! Pollards injury was horrible but you can't say 'Cork tried to kill him' All the other facts you mention were Somersets flaws eg dropped catches and missed run outs so they lost themselves the game in that aspect.
I think you need to accept Hampshire won and stop moaning!

Cork didn't try and kill Pollard. If you saw Cork's reaction, you will have seen he was very upset. We tried to bowl a dot ball; unfortunately Pollard got hurt.
b)Had Kieswetter managed to hit the stumps in the final over of the match, Somerset would have gone home as winners.
But he did't. Perhaps he needs to prectice throwing at the stumps

no, they bottled it

But a damn good county cricketer
-
Whats your point...
You should accept Hampshire won and not make a list of excuses which are all either Somersets own fault or part of the game! You can't blame the whole loss on Pollard being injured, he wasn't batting brilliantly anyway and your hardly a one man team. Another of your players could have stepped up but didn't.
-

Ok thanks

hey come on now cricket won good game to a tired competition .
wazza come on bud you got to the final it OK sometimes to lose

dry your eyes mate
-

He was batting alright but as soon as they bowled short to him he clearly wasn't comfortable. Anyway what about you blaming your loss on Pollard, at county level other players should be able to step up!
-
I bet that Hampshire are now so glad the penalty for the poor pitch against Somerset is going to be applied next season!
-

but had pollard faced the final few deliveries, who knows how much would have been posted. arul suppiah threw away a match deciding wicket.
-
boo hoo, its not a one man team :)
-
Wazza - sympathise with the fact that Somerset have twice made the final and lost both times! But as unfortunate and disappoiting as that may be, they are still an exciting and excellent team.
On paper they were stronger than Hampshire....but Hamphire just seemed to find that extra fight on the day! There are so many 'ifs' and 'buts' fella, but in the end they just seemed to admit defeat an over or two early! And as it turned out luck favoured Hampshire, even though Hampshire almost hit the panic button in the last 2 overs!!
Somerset will bounce back!

Sorry Wazza, I'm a big Somerset fan myself, member for 5 years!
But I don't know how you can say that?!
1) Is it illegal to bowl a bouncer?
2) It is down to Kieswetter to hit the stumps, his fault if he misses!
3) Likewise with Compton on the boundary...
4) Pollard could not bowl or field because he missed a short ball....
5) I was impressed with Cork, he showed a lot of concern and sportsmanship after Pollard's injury.
Yes it is gutting that we lost, but in all Hampshire took more wickets than us, and up untill the last 2-3 overs they batted much better than us..... Well done to Hampshire!
-
i now officially blame suppiah for a costly golden duck. lock this topic please.
-
For (No Swearing Please) sake essex were absolute (No Swearing Please), never again is that muppet bravo comming to our club! Fair play to Hampshire tho the fully deserved it !
-
yeah LOL at bravo, ten grand well spent i feel!
-
firstly, what a fabulous expieriance that was!!! really really enjoyable.
and a fabulous end to finish it off, but i have to say, somerset were robbed
-
i now officially blame suppiah for a costly golden duck. lock this topic please.
Wazza - we will lock the topic when everyone has stopped discussing fella.
J-Ridd10 - I agree, both semis and the final were all pretty damn close and offered amazing entertainment! I was there last year and the final was not close so lacked the suspense that this year offered. Saying that, I think in some ways that Somerset did throw it away a little. But you could also say that Hampshire gave them a sniff of a win in the first place!! Hampshire were cruising and could have won with an over to spare but panicked and started slogging at balls - Both McKenzie and Carberry got themselves out by pathetic attempted baseball shots. In a way, this all added to the tense finish and made the match so entertaining! 8)
-
What an absolutely superb day the finals turned out to be even though the weather tried its best to spoil it, a very very big well done to Hampshire they truly deserved it. I'm a big fan of Dominic Cork so I'm even more pleased Hampshire went on to win this, I'm also very pleased Essex went out early £10k for one game what a joke but justice was done.
Well done Dom and Hampshire !
-
But rumour is that hes been given 10k for next year aswel, essex have already signed him rumours says.
-
I don't care about next season paying a player £10k for one game is a joke and hardly what i class as in the spirit of the game.
-
£10k for one game? That's chicken feed compared to IPL!!
I wonder if this is the way the game is going!? :(
-
Freelance cricketers!
-
I think that Essex should have paid him in accordance to his performance, i.e. If he hits a quickfire/match winning 30 or 40 and bowls tightly then he would have earned his 10k.....
but if he performs like he did yesterday, maybe 2 or 3k???
this way he would have also been motivated to do well as there would be an extrinsic reward :D
-

And bravo would of agreed to that ?
-
Not seen Bravo's contract but having dealt with a number of players contracts I'd be suprised if there wasn't a bonus structure of payments in there.
-
I suppose I am being slighty bias to essex ;) , but he did look quite good batting and was unlucky with the run out, yes he bowled rubbish but essex should of had a plan b and bowled flower although IF tendo was fit what a different semi final result that would of been. Just got to focus on staying in div 1. Also how great are the essex fans, last night the hampshire announcer said can the fans show there noise etc, and all of us got up and starting shouting essex, essex and outsung all notts, somerset, and hampshire fans. Up the eagles!
-
I must say how impressed i was with cork after the bouncer to pollard, firstly a great ball that totally decieved Pollard, but then the sportsmanship shown towards Pollard and it was visible just how upset Cork was that he had injured Pollard (even though it was within the rules!) And also to ask the batsmen going off at the end of the innings to check he was ok shows extreme sportmanship which with alot of money coming into the game could well be few and far between.
-
in my opinion, that last over in the first innings was when the match was won or lost,
im just saying that had the ball not managed to penetrate the helmet, Pollard would have propelled the score to 180-odd.
I was a bit ~@??>; off at the time, I knew Cork handled the situation well, but we all know that Pollard was in good nick at the time.
I hope he gets better quickly, and that next year Somerset go one better than they have for the last two years.
-
My sky+ failed to record. Anyone have any idea when the final is repeated?
-
In 5 minutes time on Sky Sports 3 :D
-
Sky Sports is always trying to rub in the fact that Somerset lost.
I bet it's on for the next week or so.
-

OMG, the gits at Sky did the same last year as well, and who lost the final......Somerset! Coincidence? I think not! :(
And they replayed it several times! And yet they never used to replay the T20 final 10 or 20 years ago ;) ....so they obviously have it in for Somerset! I bet if Somerset win it next year, they only replay it 6 times instead of the 7 times they replay this year! We should all boycott Sky!!
-
that was exactly what i thought
-
Is this guy being serious?
-
u do know what sarcasm is...
-
Its hard to recognise such a thing over the internet... and you never know what to think if a person believes bowling a bouncer is trying to kill someone :S
