Fair enough mate, get it charging lol! I'd suggest Craig (hit4six) or Dom (bat repairs)

I would say a repair could be made, but it would be temporary and prone to further breakage at any time.

im sure a batmaker can put in a lamitoe to prevent anymore breaking

Hi Perkins, lamitoe would not help in this case. Lamitoe is a piece of hardwood inserted into the toe, the theory is that if the bats toe cracks the crack will only go up to the hardwood insert and not all the way through the toe like the crack in this bat has.

i thought chase put them in to strengthen the toe

Yes they do, but once a bat has cracked all the way through the toe it wouldn't make a difference

well then it would be a case of glueing clamping and sanding then

Looks like the damage to the Modulus I sent to Mike. Difference is it appears to be only toe deep. I suggest that you get it dowelled, glued and clamped. If it is only two inches, then you will probably be alright for a bit, but it will only be a temporary repair, and expect the digging out of a couple of yorkers in the next season to reopen the damage. That kind of cross-toe crack is the start of something fatal!

remember reading somewhere that dowlling causes a dead spot and doesn't do much more than glue - in fact I think it might weaken the bat. That's one for the experts!

Yes, but as it's in the toe, it's a dead spot already! To be fair, once a crack gets above a couple of inches, glueing it tends to leave a dead spot too.

I'd dowel it with some wood glue personally and see how it goes, drill in deep enough to help pull the crack together with the dowelling...I use a glue called woodweld which expands upon drying to fill the area and well and bonding it together

I'm happy to try and get it fully fixed for you, if it is only 2 inches then it should play fine afterwards.

I have seen people nail their bats to fix cracks. Apart from the cosmetic side, does nailing actually work?

cant imagine its strictly legal and if ur going to use anything a screw would be better as it will pull and keep the wood together better

saw this particular bat in action in a Lords Taverners game at the Harrogate over 40's tournament. I don't think anyone really cared!
