Title: Different profiles for 2011
Post by: Ayrtek Cricket on January 09, 2011, 07:32:18 PM
Evening Chaps and Chapesses

Were cosndiering introducing a 2nd option bat in terms of profile for this forthcoming season but havent decided which one as yet. We will be continuing with last years version but a second with a different position of middle would be useful we think to give you a wider option.

I have 3 bats to consider as such which ill upload a few pics of tomorrow, but thought i would throw oopen the floor to see what profile you would like to see first as it may help us decide ??? Eg.GT Profile from Newbery or equivilent model from other brands

Cheers

Tom

As much as seeing a GT shaped bat fills me with joy for the batmakers art, if you're only having 2 shapes I'd go for a mid and a low. May as well stick with the concaving, its what the kiddies like. No point going retro. For all the actual performance stats, an 'old' shaped bat is never going to sell well parked next to a 'new' shaped bat.

Blah blah one of these days I'll make myself believe I know what I'm talking about ;)

haha yeh have a couple of lower middle options in the mix with plenty of concaving to keep it light and fluffy for the sub 2.9 lovers ;)

Yeah got 1 with a really low middle, 1 slightly higher and then our standard profile then one withour any concaving on it.

Looking for something that offer an alternative to our standard profile....as were not a specialist bat based brand we arent going to do 3/4 versions as we just want something that our loyal customers can purchase that offers them a high quality bat as well as matching the rest of their kit :D

All 4 bats are in the office so will whack up afew pics once im back in tomorrow so you can see the different profiles

Jon fear not something along those lines is in the mix

It is in the Legend section G2/3 (I was looking on the website and started at the "cheaper" £200 bats!!)

I admire your taste Buzz - Those two are right up my street!!

I honestly believe that people who aren't on this forum (normal people) aren't particularly fussy as long as the pick up's good and it doesn't look too stick-like.

Anything with lots of concaving and massive edges ;)

I still think the Premier profile of 2008 was really really nice!!!

Tom what about something very similar to the oblivion or the m&h retro/ distinction failing that you could go for the in shape at the minute.... The laver 'special'
Title: Re: Different profiles for 2011
Post by: Tom on January 09, 2011, 08:54:43 PM
I wouldn't bother messing around with new shapes - anything with big edges, nice stickers and which is well price will sell. Majority aren't picky.

Tom,

Old is gold, i have  a classical shaped bat (the best bat ive used by a long way), forget the edges. . .go classical shape with a bit of a bow in it.  you cant go wrong. . .

copy your scat profile.
Title: Re: Different profiles for 2011
Post by: Ayrtek Cricket on January 09, 2011, 11:11:46 PM
Divides opinion it seems between those who go for concaved/modern bats and those who want classical shaped with max wood behind the middle
Title: Re: Different profiles for 2011
Post by: Colesy on January 09, 2011, 11:14:49 PM
Or go for both, slimmer edges, slightest of bows and concaving. Bit GM Catalyst-ish

I haven't got the skills to knock out our own unique profile I'm afraid mate :( u model us one and I'll claim to have made it......;)

if I ever get an 1hr free when I'm in the workshop, consider it done.  I obviously tell the wife that the picture I'm taking there are for R&D purposes only

To keep on topic, do you have a classic-ish shape in your Bat arsenal?
Title: Re: Different profiles for 2011
Post by: 100 not out on January 10, 2011, 12:03:20 AM
i can provide an example of a very good classical bat. . . the toes is gone on it though

isn't a mjolnir about as typical classic shape as you'll get these days? Like to see a Beyonce bat though!

I like the 2 on the left - both lovely profiles.
Title: Re: Different profiles for 2011
Post by: will5210 on January 10, 2011, 11:31:06 AM
If it were my money I'd buy the 3rd from the left, but I think the 2nd from the left looks like a good all round profile to suit most people.
Title: Re: Different profiles for 2011
Post by: Ayrtek Cricket on January 10, 2011, 11:52:50 AM
2nd on the left is our standard profile that we offer now :)
Title: Re: Different profiles for 2011
Post by: johan95 on January 10, 2011, 11:55:22 AM
I'd personally go for the 1st one, then the 3rd one, given you already have the 2nd one as your standard profile. That's just my view though, sure there are many differing.. :)
Title: Re: Different profiles for 2011
Post by: jonpinson on January 10, 2011, 11:58:57 AM
Logic says 2 and 3, heart says 1 and 4. I think the majority of players would find 4 the most useful on the decks most of us will likely play on, but 'loik it don't have mahsiv edges so loik its crap innit'. I don't know how these arrangements work but do you have the option of having any of the 4 made at any time? Or do you plan to have a stock made up?
Title: Re: Different profiles for 2011
Post by: johan95 on January 10, 2011, 12:02:28 PM
And out of interest, what is going to happen to these bats..I'm guessing send back or sell on here with ayrtek stickers applied? :)
Title: Re: Different profiles for 2011
Post by: Ayrtek Cricket on January 10, 2011, 12:04:04 PM
there are MOQ's on each profile so would be looking to stock all 4 as obviously people have different tastes and one may prove more popular than others leaving an excess stock of shape "X"

these are ours to keep and will have the newly printed stickers on them when i pull my figner out and get them ordered!
Title: Re: Different profiles for 2011
Post by: will5210 on January 10, 2011, 12:18:28 PM
Will each profile have a different name/sticker colour?
Title: Re: Different profiles for 2011
Post by: Ayrtek Cricket on January 10, 2011, 03:01:17 PM
probably not mate as dont want to overcomplicate our range as such and loose focus on what were selling

Title: Re: Different profiles for 2011

id go with the 2 on the left.......
Title: Re: Different profiles for 2011
Post by: Ayrtek Cricket on January 10, 2011, 03:05:53 PM
The 1st on the left is 2.11 with no concaving on it so has plenty about it in terms of mass behind the ball
Title: Re: Different profiles for 2011
Post by: Ayrtek Cricket on January 10, 2011, 03:06:42 PM
Canners u already have a 2nd on the left!!! although this one maybe a little bigger at 2.9 with 35mm edges ;)
Title: Re: Different profiles for 2011
Post by: tim2000s on January 10, 2011, 03:08:43 PM
I like the one on the left. Looks like a Hunts County Insignia with a slightly higher middle.

1&2 for me nice long mid middle and nice low middle not much need for alot else on English wickets

I prefer 1 & 3

with you on that - 1 seems the best to me. I'm assuming they are all the same weight?
Title: Re: Different profiles for 2011
Post by: Ayrtek Cricket on January 10, 2011, 04:25:16 PM
no all differ in weight due to the profiles....2.11, 2.12. 2.9 and 2.8 from left to right in the pictures :)

3 seems to have a big toe considering it's 2-3 ounces lighter. Difficult to work out from the pics, what are the edge, toe, spine heights?

Will have to have a measure up when I'm bk in the office on weds :) know 1 has 30mm and 3 has 35mm I think ??? Others are prob 30mm
Title: Re: Different profiles for 2011
Post by: jonpinson on January 10, 2011, 04:50:33 PM
Trouble is Tom as they are all different weights, it makes it more difficult to appraise them. I'd have thought they'd have supplied the same weights for absolute comparison.
Title: Re: Different profiles for 2011
Post by: Tom on January 10, 2011, 04:53:20 PM
As they're machined they just get made to one size, the weight then varies due to willow density.

Far left my fave.
Title: Re: Different profiles for 2011
Post by: Ayrtek Cricket on January 10, 2011, 04:54:33 PM
Yeh it was more to look at the positions of the Middles etc in all honesty than make a direct comparism. Obviously all pick up differently due to this factor.

Everyone in the bristol area seems to like the profile we used last year as pitches are generally slow and low down here. Looking beyond the local area it obviously differs :)
Title: Re: Different profiles for 2011

easy way to solve that - bring out a jumbo profile, I'd buy it ;)

Looks like a beast of a bat as well, wouldn't mind bullying bowlers around with it  :D
