i got all ur emails, sorry i couldn't reply as I was at Kookabura factory , they really looked after me and worked out my weakness of buying great looking bats, i have just realised i have no money left to pay for the extra bats I bought :-[
will reply very soon

Just ordered the bat. I am pumped for it's arrival and will do a full review once I receive the bat. Once again thanks Asad, top notch service.

That's great to hear, mind telling which SS bat(s) did you opt out for ?
-
my moneys on a nice light one
-
I went for the SS Gladiator. It's the 2'8 one in the 4th picture: http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=9508.0.
I am pretty picky about weights and I like them to weigh no more than 2'8.5, so 2'8 is perfect. I like big and light
-
me 2 mate a nice big 2.8-9 fits the bill nicely
-
Why go big and heavy, when you can go big and light. Never understood this, but to each their own.
-
That is a very fair point. I have 3 2.11s/2.12s (3 in this weight range in total) and find no problems with them. But if I found a big 2.8/2.9 I would happily use that, hence SS Bats do appeal a lot to me. :) But as you say, each to their own..
-
i like a bat around 2.10-2.12
i tend to find if i use 2.8ish my bat speed is to fast and i am early on lots of shots.
so opted for something bit heavy 2.10 is perfect if am batting up order and anything from 2.12 - 2.15 is ok for smashing
-
Horses for courses. I think our English friends seem to go for heavier bats than we do in Australia. I'm in Perth and couldn't manage some of the 2.12+ beauties we see on the forum here. A 2.8 Gladiator would have to be as good a bats as available, I look forward to the OP's thoughts and review.
-
Personell preference and some play in the low slow pitches that you can get away with a heavier bat but I use 2lb12 as any lighter feels like a twig no matter what the size but I can wield a 2lb12 quite quickly so suits me
-
i use a 2lb 6oz ss grade one blank which in truth is as big as a 2lb 12oz bat from any were else it massive...
I'am a touch player and play on quite hard and bouncy pitches if that helps and as a small man i like a higher middle than most

This is true, I don't know why I didnt think of that. I find that if I use a hevier bat, I pretty much don't play the cut shot at all and I am often pretty late on my drives. The only shot I play better is the pull shot, no idea why, but it's true.
I am a mix of touch and power. I like to move the ball around and rotate strike, however, should I decide to go for it, I like to know that there I have a fair bit of wood behind the ball. Playing in Australia the pitches are generally bouncy so a light bat helps my bat speed a fair bit as well.

would this be the blank SS?
-
By Christ those new SS at Uzi look good, I just cannot justify the price when I can get summut made here for less.
-
i thought the blank ones were pretty reasonable?

Yeh but everyone knows stickers make the bat go better ;)

Doesn't mean you'll suffer in performance. A Heritage @ £120 is great value.

Indeed, without stickers, a bat will refuse to perfrom, ahahahha :)
I thought about purchasing a custom made bat, however, my other bat has died and I need a new one as we are getting into the pointy end of the season now with 3 games to go plus finals. I didnt wan't to use a bat which has pretty much no middle anymore, and ordering a custom bat might take some time, so I went with the Gladiator as it is already made and it looked great, plus Asad said it was the best of the ones I liked. I also didn't want to pay the crazy prices for a top bat at an Australian store.
The only place that sells SS in Australia that I know of is Kingsgrove sports, even then they only have 1 top class bat and it's the Platnium and it costs $615/£365. I got the gladiator for $385/£250 with postage and handling included. So I save $230/£143. With the savings I can buy 2/3 pairs of gloves.
I just hope it gets here soon.

will be sending it on either tomorrow or Monday,

with the great products and service with the $AUD trading above parity it makes little sense to buy domestically in Australia at the moment. Try buying a GM LE, Kook Players, GN players, etc and you're looking at $750......

Thanks Asad, do you know how long it usually takes for a shipment to arrive in Australia?

When I was younger I always bought from GC and Kingsgrove, but now thanks to the forum I have so many more outlets I can purchase from, which are cheaper and have much more choices as in like SS, CA, BAS, plus all the uk brands Newbery, Salix etc. In Australia, not many stores sell this gear and I don't know why.
