In my opinion, that Nitro LE looks the prettiest thing on this forum for a while... :)

Was just thinking that!
-
Look impressive I must say!! The face of Evo and Nitro LE is amazing!!
As usual Oblivion stands out :D:D
Nitro LE face would be ideal for my Oblivion LE along other specs :D
-
that nitro looks the nuts.......
-
Asad i cannot remember seeing a bad bat being sold by you (other than in damaged section)
-
agree canners
-
In my opinion, that Nitro LE looks the prettiest thing on this forum for a while... :)
Plus it's only 2' 7 with the profile that it has makes it a very special bat in my view.
-
that 2lb 8oz oblivion at the bottom is a big bat for the weight
-
I agree, the Nitro profile is lovely, it looks like it has a long middle.
-
What are people's opinions on the square-toed Quantum? I can't say that I'm a fan, it looks unfinished almost.
-
Asian maybe i like the look but can see what you mean
how much is that one asad
-
very bradbury!
-
Generally they are top, top bats I feel. In the past few weeks, since Alex has come on the forum, my opinions of GN have changed quite dramatically, I knew they churned out some great bats, but it seemed a lottery, these all look lovely sticks. Out of interest Asad, how many bats did you acquire when you were at their factory. If I had the money, I would be very tempted by one of the lower models on show here, purely as I am a cheapskate! :)

Asad handpicks 'em bud... wheat from the chaff ;)
-
Nice looking bats selected Asad throughout the ranges

Mind you these low end GN do perform very well, my best performing bat so far is GN Powerbow 3 Star

I agree! Looks massive! Some Oblivion I have seen had big profiles as well!

Exactly Uzair. I used a Xiphos 4* Last year, had a decent knock around with it, got to 25 with some nice shots in there, seemed very responsive. Though it is all pot-luck when you go and buy from a shop... :|
-
My favorite is the Oblivion 5* in 2.8 with the darker heartwood (2nd from right)
-
^^From left you mean?
-
Love the Evo profile !
-
i Quite liked the look of the evo carbo.
are these all made in the factory as some have square toes & others rounder toe
-
Alex was saying on another thread that they are all made by hand in different workshops around the world.
-
Very nice looking bats... I have liked the powebow and Nitro.. Which one are better for slow pitches?
What are the prices on these?
-
I'm seriously considering dipping into uni savings for that nitro. top notch!
-
How much is that nitro?
-
I really, really like that 2.11 Oblivion :(

why thank you ;)
once again top bats asad, i quite fancy those quantums
-
Haha lol Alex, not you though ;)
-
^^From left you mean?
No the Quantum next to the 2.11 Oblivion in pic 4
-
Some gorgeous bats there...
-
Thankyou all for showing interest in the bats.
I will try to add all these as well as Kooks range on the web site with prices.
Regards
Asad

Excuse my GN ignorance - is this Powerbow a new profile?
It looks like it's got a kind of Jumbo / V12 thing going on - or do my eyes deceive me?
-
I've dropped you a couple of PM's Brucey Lucy.
-
Bruce it used to be very traditional in shape with no concaving, but now it has slightly bigger edges, higher middle and more concaving.

Hmm - anyone recomend a good place to get one at the cheaper end of the range?
-
I've dropped you a couple of PM's Brucey Lucy.
Indedd you have Gareth, but I've been rammed at work, and Richard is never open when I drive by.
I'll pin him down this week as i want to do you some cheap banners this year!
-
Any prices asad? Quite interested in the nitro, and maybe the quantam
-
I've had a little look at these pics again out of boredom and quite like the 5* Quantum on the right side, when they are next to each other in the photo. Though it is not as big a profile as it's cousin/brother/sister, it has a nice look to it, and I like the combinations of Heartwood and Sapwood on that. Out of interest Asad, could you PM me a price for that. I am off to Fordham Sports with a mate tomorrow, so might check out all their 2011 Kit and get a little review done!
-
Excuse me for a dumb question but Evo Carbo has a carbon core handle ala C6 of Newbery correct ?
-
Yes, I believe so Uzair. Something along those lines at least. And anyone who has links to gray nics in any way, probably Alex is best to answer this, is that a new 2-tone grip on the Quantum. Is that as standard, or specially for those bats? :)
-
Thanks Johan, appreciated!
Yes, those grips are standard.
-
The 2.7 Evo in the first picture (2nd from right) has some nice grains too... besides the Nitro of course
-
That's quite a good point! It gives the Nitro a close run for it's money! :) - top top bats though you've picked Asad!
-
Ok, can someone tell me which is better... Extreme Pro or Limited Edition....?
-
LE, extreme pro is the third one down
http://www.cricketdirect.co.uk/Catalogue/Cricket-Bats/Gray-Nicolls-Cricket-Bats/Oblivion-Cricket-bats
thats the order mate
-
Then those Oblivion Extreme Pros are nice looking bats!!
On a difference note, does Alex know when GN are going to update their website to a 2011 edition. It still shows Xiphos and has nothing about Oblivion, Legend, Quantum, etc...
-
does Alex know when GN are going to update their website to a 2011 edition
I have no idea I'm afraid!
Ok, can someone tell me which is better... Extreme Pro or Limited Edition....?
Extreme Pro's tend to be much larger in profile and weight (e.g rarely under 2.12) but not always quite as nice as L.E
Excuse me for a dumb question but Evo Carbo has a carbon core handle ala C6 of Newbery correct ?
Carbo handles are 12 piece cane handles, cork springs and a layer of carbo fibre fitted externally to the base of the handle under the binding to try and decrease the amount of damage from ball strikes up by the splice are. There is not any Carbon inside the handle
-
Also, what can you tell us about the Powerbow profile in the pictures? It looks like a Jumbo rather than a traditional Powerbow profile?
-
Thisisi the profile that we changed the powerbow profile to for 2010 and we have stuck with it for 2011 >:( (lets just say I preferred the old shape!)
-
Cheers Alex, so this handle does have a splice unlike the ones which are illegal to use at international that don't have splice.
Old Powerbow shape was MILES better than this new one.
Alex, a question for you will it be able to get an old bat from you guys? I mean will you guys have Predator lying somewhere?
-
if we're requesting old shapes, please can i have a scimiter, or a sabre 1000 cheers
-
Alex could you shed some light on the Edge?
-
Cheers Alex, so this handle does have a splice unlike the ones which are illegal to use at international that don't have splice.
We don't manufacture a spliceless bat.
Alex, a question for you will it be able to get an old bat from you guys? I mean will you guys have Predator lying somewhere
We don't have any lying around, they can be made but only on special orders, you would have to find a retailer and get them to contact us to see if it is possible
Alex could you shed some light on the Edge?
I wish I could, all I can say is there is one guy who works here who swears by them when playing indoor cricket.
-

I'm assuming it will be very expensive ? Do you have rough idea regarding the price ?
Basically it is a Predator which Mohammad Yousuf used back in 2006 when he was at his peak!
-
I have added all the Kooks and GN bats on our web site, next is Softs I have to add.
Regards
Asad
-
Biased cos I own one but I love the Newbery GT, someone on here had one with cadbury stickers mmmmmmm*drools*
-
Like Newbery bats. But I must admit that I am liking the direction GN are going and have some pretty impressive models! And after looking at the Uzi website, it looks as though Asad picks some very lush bats! ;)
-
Thank

Thanks Pete, my aim is to visit each supplier and pick up the best bats according to my knowledge. I have also built up good relationship with many suppliers who are happy for me to come and hand pick my bats
regards
Asad
-
There really are some lovely bats in his shop! If I had the money when I last visited I'm sure I would've walked out with more than a few.
-
Beautiful, yes, especially the Nitro from memory.
Trouble is they are a big brand and therefore are prohibitively expensive.
-
Yes that one got sold within few days
will be doing a one day sale at the shop very soon, most likely be saturday in few weeks time

Likewise, let me know about it!

Likewise, let me know about it!
I thought you were cutting back your bats? Hahaha
-
haha, well I've only got 2 bats at the moment and when my lovely talisman sells then I'll be in the market for another one or two... :-[
-
Damn I'm tempted by that as has a higher middle than my current light bat which is what I'm looking for
-
how much for the nitro on the first pic l.e
-
how much for the nitro on the first pic l.e
that was sold after few days and i think this model is discontinued by GN
-
Will you be getting any e41's?
-
if they are available for UK market, then Yes we will have them
-
Hi
E41's are currently only for the Australian market.
-
And a nice looking piece of willow they are too
-
Alex.......
the E41 having 41mm edges on a 2.7, and all these other massive Gn's we're seeing of late. I'm assuming these bats are being massively overdried. Does this improve performance or is this purely an aesthetics thing?
-
The e41's dont have 41mm edges. The bottom of the range do, but the top range ones dont due to structural concerns, that's what it says in the GCCC catalogue and thats what they said to me. In saying that though, they are still very big for the weight
-
Different companies will have different opinions on what "overdried" is as they will operate to a different core moisture content.
I can't speak for the E41 specifically as it is not a uk product but I would assume that they are sourced from timber that has a naturally low moisture content and has been through the same process of kilning as other GN bats. Hence you get some with 41mm edges and some that won't. Glad to see that the boys in OZ take structural integrity into consideration! As for performance. I could not conclusivley say!
-
thanks Alex

GN Website says 41mm edges
http://www.gray-nicolls.com.au/brands/gray-nicolls-cricket/bats/senior-english-willow/e41/
-
I can assure you that most do not from what I've seen anyway. They are still massive and some reach the 41mm edges, but most do not.
-
The 41mm edges aren't new as the XXX range at Meulemans from last year had 42-45mm edges and that has continued this year
-
I am not doubting you Langer but it doesn't really make sense....when every maker is using the highest quality willow to get the biggest profiles and which are only good for approx 1000 runs and yet GN are getting bigger profiles on their bottom of the range bats.... sounds like the total opposite of what every other batmaker is doing is all
-
We grow all our own willow, we do all raw work from tree to cleft onsite in robertsbridge so we have controll over the kilning process of every cleft before it is exported around the world so we are able to spread these XL clefts that are used for huge profile evenly.
-
Was good to meet Asad today, think the boys picked him some nice bats, lovely chap as well!
-
Thsankyou Alex for your time. It was pleasure meeting you and Yes you are correct i picked up some lovely bats, I couldn't stop adding extra bats to my order and have just realised after going through the invoice that i have spent too much. The bats will be in the shop next week so if any one is looking for hand picked GN bats then make your way to Uzi Sports.
