I wonder if there is a relationship between the bats breaking near the point of the handle "V" and this point bearing most of the pressure when a handle is fitted? Maybe the handle goes a bit too far into the V and creates a weakness at that point?
maybe.....ive had one go like this earlier but looking at the back of the bat, it was storm damaged...and this was handpicked by a retailer.
got to be honest, and ive posted this before, I cant be alone the size of bats these days compared to what they were, it's impossible for them all to be the limited large/light type willow, so the only way to get them so big at 2lb 9 or 10 is to press them less and let them dry out.
I don't think personally we should expect modern bats with large profiles to last very long. Just my opinion and i'm not an expert by any means....
compare a bat made 10 years ago in profile and todays bats... ive got a couple with massive edges and spine that weight the same as old bats but are half the size....
