Full strength, would the seamers not be Archer, Woakes, Curran S?

Wood, Mills, etc might offer something else on a more placid pitch as well.

The final 11 is going to be mighty difficult to pick I think.
Of the names there Woakes I don't think  will get in...he hasn't featured in any of these games.

Conditions might dictate in UAE, maybe we want Rashid and Ali and Livingstone in as he can bowl spin also.

Livingstone has just been named man of he series, he might have forced his way in for the WC. Willey might be unlucky again with Archer and Stokes to come back.

Tough calls as we appear again in limited overs,to have quality players who will be left out.

I have no idea with the strength of white ball batting we have how Malan gets anywhere near this side.  With the way white ball cricket has evolved and improved,  you have to be a very good batsman if you don't bowl, are an ordinary fielder and aren't great at running between the wickets.   His best performances are on the flat pitches where there is no need for a guy holding an end up for others to bat around and his worst on the tricky pitches where that role has some value

That's a mighty harsh judgment, presume you don't like the bloke.

He was, or maybe still is, No 1 rated world t20 batsman, I think he been unlucky not to be given a chance in the tests also.

The fact that England still picked him when we have such strong limited overs players means they must rate him.
Whether he gets in the starting 11 for the WC might depend on if we need another spin option in the UAE and Livingstone gets in first.

The only thing I've seen him do that others don't is play himself in a bit more, that might put pressure on others,or that might mean he takes responsibility to get us over the line in a tight game-as per the other night.

You can view it either way.

When Stokes comes back in, wonder if the slow starts may count against Malan a bit more given that is how Stokes tends to operate as well. Stokes undoubtedly offers more in the field and is a bowling option and I can't see him being left out.

I find Malan such an interesting case in our T20 side, he bats completely differently to everyone else (to a certain extent against the grain of Morgan's culture), he isn't the greatest fielder, almost has a different personality to the rest of the team even (as has been seen in the past), plays his best cricket on pitches not like what will be at the WC.

And yet he has this world ranking status/enigma about him, which makes him seem a must pick.

It may well be and they do bat similar. Stokes has never been an out and out power hitter,in fact he's technically probably our  second best batsman in the longer form of the game.

The level these guys are at is phenomenal, Malan and Stokes can really hit then you have Roy and someone like Livingstone or Bairstow who can do it from the off.

Just not convinced Malan leaves this England side particularly well balanced.

Aside the batting, as has been mentioned, he doesn't offer a lot. Buttler keeps, Livingstone can bowl a bit as can More and Stokes, Roy and Bairstow are gun fielders, and Morgan's captaincy record speaks for itself.

Picking that final 11 for games in the UAE is goi to be very difficult. I'm sure Ali will play making 2 spinners, Stokes is a must pick, Archer maybe can't be left out.

Something will have to give. Roy, Buttler,Bairstow is nailed on and prob the best top 3 in the world currently for T20.

I think Malan and Livingstone are competing for one place. Malan hasn't found himself number 1 rated by accident, but we have an embarrassment of riches to choose from.

It was only 2015 we were rubbish, things have changed very quickly  :)

Mo’s spot is maybe more at risk if they can burgle abs over or two from Livingstone, though if it does end up very spin friendly his left handed ness and spin hitting will likely grab him a spot.

No views at all on what he is like as a bloke, but as a cricketer we have better options.  In the vast majority of England's white ball history, he would be a stand out player, but this is an exceptional group in which, like Tom Curran in the bowling department, he stands out as someone who doesn't obviously bring anything to what is already there.

At full strength, picking him would involve leaving Livingstone out which would be a crazy decision for me.
