I know it - played there many times.

Your 3rd team ground is a bit of a lark!

Yeah, it's a bit of a joke really. I think I've played twice on it ever and never enjoyed it. It's a football pitch all winter so the groundsman does a great job just to get a pitch out but anything can happen when the ball pitches.

3's are a good bunch, they could easily moan about having to play on it while we're all on the main pitch but never say a word, unless they got out to a grubber

Hunts div 5, started playing after 17 years out middle of last season, think league got voted worst in England not that long ago which suits me :D lots of re jigging gone on in hunts league this year, we came second last year but didn't want to play Saturdays, we had 7 teams last year and I think 2nd bottom went up to play Saturday, think we have about 10-12 teams this year as a few higher league teams wanted to stay Sunday and dropped down so could be a hard old year. Team has gained over 6 real cricketers in last year though so we are going in right direction.

North East Premier League, pretty good league however there is a few teams that dominate the league such as South North, Chester-Le-Street etc when they're having a good day!

Hopefully Ellis can take a few more wickets this year for Minehead, and you guys can win a few more.
Good luck for the season and I hope to come down and watch a few

Have played at various standards around the place, due to moving heaps for work. Play country cricket in Queensland at the moment, crap standard which doesn't help your game any. You would think you should dominate but its actually harder - no pace on the ball when batting and blokes not good enough to get an edge. Go and play A grade which is a 3 hour one way drive to keep the skills up a bit. Have also played A grade on the sunshine coast, Queensland as a junior, various levels of rep cricket right up to Queensland development squads. Did a stint in the UK firstly playing village cricket in Kent but moved on to play in the Kent Premier League. Would love to come back over to play but not sure it will happen :( getting old!

Does anyone play for/against Newtown Linford 1stXI? A young guy who went to school with my son here in Aus is playing for them and I wondered how the standard was and how he has been performing over there. He was in the Targeted sports program for cricket with my son and seemed quite talented.

His name is Ben Sunshine
