Wet Inners
« on: March 20, 2011, 11:57:02 AM »

I've always soaked my chamois' in cold water before going out to keep as it helps soften my keeping gloves.
Always done this but don't know if its common practice.

What about you guys?

Lots of players do this, Gilly used to def. I have done it in the past, but i prefer just having a few throws before the innings and just sweating, does the same thing.

A guy at my club was gobsmacked tonight when I said I didn't wet my inners when he asked me. Is it such a common thing then?

it is designed to absorb the energy of the ball stop your hands hurting and take the sting away

I like think gloves and find the paddings ones settle after a while

I used to use plastorzine in my gloves with thin cotton inners but after a few years keeping i find the padded inners and xtra large gloves is the way to go

I think with my customs, I don't need padding but the SS ones have softer palms and I may well benefit from padded palms...trial and error really

hands softer not that is your ability and give no gloves will aid in making you have softer hands.

I talk to some old school keepers who like no padding ans chammy inners wet to the max they like to feel the ball more but i just wack my padded ones in a larger glove that my set up.

I put my gloves in a boiling hot bath as well at the start of the season to giet them as supple as possible maybe i am a tad mad
