quality tools

Right, been searching around a bit for some fairly basic tools and these are what seemed reasonably priced and not too shabby quality. Most are on amazon as i've got free next day delivery and they've always been reliable for me in the past

Clamp I can borrow from my school and can use a massive benc there too so they're not really needed.
Overall comes to about £110 + p&p

Ive never really done anything like this in the past so have no idea about if these are good quality or not so any thoughts from anyone who knows would be really hepful, please.  :D

thats the wrong sort of drawknife needs to be bigger there are loads on ebay and with spokeshaves look on ebay i find wooden ones are best

drawkniofes look decent but most need a load of sharpening probs by a blacksmith if you can find one

Managed to find someone not too far away from me. may sound like a stupid question but would even new tools need sharpening?

well they are made and left in boxes for god knows how long so they will need sharpening maybe a little maybe a lot best bet is to go to someone who can sharpen it and just ask

OK cheers. I reckon I'll buy some of these tools now - maybe plane travisher spokeshave drawknife - then add the rest over time.

Forget about rasps you won't need them as your shoulders will be as good as shaped for you to finish them use a spokeshave and or a drawknife

Ok best go for a 12" Drawknife older ones have better steel in them stay shaperer for long as well

Spokeshave go for an old cast iron one stanley, record

Also look for an old wooden plane [a bit lighter to use, so make sure it's isnt a heavy wood]

Smoothing plane and if you must a block plane.

Travishers - look for a convex spokeshave or a snell leather thingy people talk about.  those Gandmtools ones take a lot of setup and sharpening...

You need something to sharpen your tools with as well

Dyou mean one with a past record? most of the ones there seem either quite old or very new.

So true, you've given me a project idea!

That's a nice plane but too big. You need a plane that's 9 inches or less really in my opinion, so long as the sole and the blade are in good condition.
