My bat has never oiled, just had the scuff on. Should I give the back a decent coating?

When I smack a ball against the net, it flies. Maybe it needs more knocking in. I dont understand really because I was using them in the nets a few weeks back and was flying.

Will have a look when I get home, but when I use the mallet on both, its very responsive
Sounds like you're suffering the "adjusting to grass" problem that most people do after prolonged netting on artificials or well knackered nets. I reckon that you just need to get your timing back and the bat will fly!

Was just looking at my match bat and tapping up a ball on it and I noticed that the middle sounds very odd. Right in the centre of the bat it sounds very metallic whereas everywhere else it sounds as it should.

The bat still goes like an absolute train but I was just wondering if anyone could explain why the middle sounds so tinny?

Al
Every bat I have ever owned that went like a train made a metallic noise and it is a very good sign that it is a cracking bat!
