Was just looking at my match bat and tapping up a ball on it and I noticed that the middle sounds very odd. Right in the centre of the bat it sounds very metallic whereas everywhere else it sounds as it should.

The bat still goes like an absolute train but I was just wondering if anyone could explain why the middle sounds so tinny?

Yeah sounds like it, not a big deal, will still go like a train like you say! But just sounds a bit odd!

Bits or strips come away from the core of the bat. Not one for to answer really. Where's norbs when u need him.

De-lamination is the hard surface splitting from the willow underneath and leaving a gap between the 2, usually fatal for bats as a repair makes the blade dead.

It is nearly impossible to tell if your bat has a problem or not from the description as it is subjective, push down on the spot to see if there is movement for a de-lamination check.

If u look at tendulkars bat the one he's used for 15 centuries that has a delaminated face. Can someone post a pic. There are craters on the face . Or are my eyes playing up.

Grains lifting is not the same as de-lamination, that is not a problem, the problem is the face lifting without any visible openings.
