4-37 and a grafting 65 today on a tough wicket.  Still lost though.  Gutted.

Worst game of my cricketing career today. Got a 3rd ball duck looping a knee-high full toss to mid-on. Bowled like (No Swearing Please) and kept like a (No Swearing Please). Time to move on to the next game.

I had a bit of a bad one today. Opened the batting with a 55-60 year old guy in a 35 over game. He blocked out the first over for a maiden and we had loads of batting to come, so I decided to hit out or get out. It came off to an extent, but I got out for 6 off 3, after playing a nothing shot that looped to midwicket.
Our overseas batted and got 106 off 39 though! :D
Though they weren't a great bunch, really keen on winning in a friendly, didn't retire a bat when he got to a hundred and pissed about with a colt bowler tapping him out despite better balls off others going for 6s. Was a bit miffed and was annoyed. Hope that we don't keep the fixture next year, doubt we will as it was a last minute job as the original fixture couldn't be fulfilled. They chased down our 261 in 31 overs (35 over game) and called themselves a medium-weak team >:(

I'm intrigued as to what keeping like a (No Swearing Please) entails ???

We lost by 20 runs in a friendly today as Cawthorne. They got 171 and we got 151 but we were tucked up by the oppo big time. We play a couple of our Saturday guys and Sunday occasional cricketers and they turned up with half their 1st XI and half their 2nd XI. They also brought their Yorkshire U15 Opening bowler in to fill for a colt who hadn't turned up and he took 7-6 in 8 overs, with a little help from the 12th man which I'll come onto in a minute. Considering they are a top team in the Huddersfield League we did ok, Liam (prowannabee) turned out for us and batted really well for 33 before smacking a dirty great full toss to mid-on. I took 3-25 opening the bowling, Liam also took 1-20.

Our cause was not helped by some very biased home umpiring. They provided an umpire - which we paid for (as we found out at tea), who gave 2 shocking/extremely dubious LBW's to them and turned down 2 plum ones off us. Mine was a shocker - given out today hit on my back leg on middle/leg stick to a left arm over who bowled it half down the deck and didn't swing or seam it back in. It's nearly impossible for the ball to pitch on the stumps from that angle when it's that short. Made even worse by the same umpire not given a plumb lbw off me to a full yorker first ball of the game. Liam also had a plumb hitting all 3 turned down, but the same ump gave our number 4 out on the front foot, a foot out of his crease with a stride in to the same bowler as mine.

Very frustrating as we love playing there but see to cop some dubious decisions. 2 year ago we had a colt claim a catch when he was clearly over the boundary against one of our batters and we lost by 3 runs or so. Last year they resorted to bowler very wide of off stick and their ump didn't wide them and we again lost by 4 runs! Lovely ground though...

Would have been better if you kept like a vagina...At least you would have been useful

Couple of other notable events:-

I got hit in the box for the first time in 20 years  :(

Got the old "here comes Sangrakarra" chirp as I walked out with my Ayrtek. My response of "It's a safer helmet than the piece of sh*t you wear" seemed to shut them up.

26 batting at #5 as we comfortably chased down 124, about time I got into double figures this season!

have not batted first all season, keep on bowling first or losing the toss. yesterday was just the second time this season that nobody from the opposition made 100, although someone did make 96 not out.

havent had a good start to the year been really unlucky this season got run out first game for 1 and got 4 in my next.

on saturday was the first time i was starting to feel good i was driving there "so fast" bowler through the covers all day and then i get a horrendous caught behind decision i only missed it by 1 metre but the umpire who was also there umpire went up with the bowler it was a joke and i got given out for 8. we only made 130 and they got it 3 down i got 0-7 off 4 bowled ok.
