Played today in the most heated game ever.... mainly centering around me! Last week we played the same team and beat them by 8 wickets, and they got very angry about a couple of the wides I gave (neither of which I thought were overally harsh) and an LBW decision I turned down.
When we turned up today we bowled well and restricted them too 177-7 off 45 - mainly thanks to 40 off the last 4. I went out to umpire the first 10 and immediately had to give a wide, which of course went down very badly. Next ball was left by our batsmen but their bowler turned to me and said: 'that was a wide too' so I gave it. - Maybe not the best idea.
When I came into bat at 5, we needed 70 to win in 20 overs, pretty comfortable. However, this was when it became really feisty. One of their bowlers got annoyed that I stepped to leg and hit him over cover, and called me Sh*t and I responded by telling him to get back to his mark. Next ball was short and I cut it for 4. He went mental - said I had no courage, told me to get through puberty etc and many a swear word. He was still seething and continued to swear at me every ball of the next over. I ended up laughing at him which incensed the situation even more. He squared up to me and told me that I should be scared of him as he could destroy and kill me. He was taken out of the attack by their captain, but only so they could bring back their opening bowler who first ball I upper cut over backward point for 4. Next ball I edged behind and was caught. As I walked off the barrage of abuse increased. Apparently he was still going on about it right up until the end of the game.
Fortunately, after this incident we went on to win the game with 5 overs left. We had at one stage needed 20 to win with 6 wickets left, down to needing 3 to win with 9 wickets down. A wide (one of 37 extras) and a pull through midwicket by our number 10, won us the game.
Way to close for comfort but a great win and one I personally enjoyed massively after the abuse I recieved!

Sidmouth is a nice pitch from memory too as dad used to play rep stiff down there many yrs ago now

Sidmouth is beautiful.  Unfortunately I got a bit carried away after hitting a couple of nice boundaries early doors, and flashed at a wide one to get caught behind.

Name to watch out for all you Englishmen out there.....Daniel Bell-Drummond. Played against him today, we posted 7/225 after our 50, they replied with 4/228 with 5 overs left to play. Bell-Drummond came out at 3 and finished unbeaten on 130 something. The boys were saying he plays for the English U/19 team...he is only 17 as well! Had all the time in the world and his ability to place a cricket ball is fantastic. Shame we lost!

Bell-Drummond has some serious talent man, in the first Eng vs. SA U19 ODI he carted them all over the place as well...sure he will be playing at a very high level in years to come...
Given the fact that he is only 17 that is so scary though!

Got back from tour of Devon late last night - fairly thankful that today's game was rained off.  Great times down in Devon though - good games at Kilmington, Heathcoat (though they had double-booked us so we ended up playing against a dreadful bunch from Wembley, with one or two from Highgate and other North London clubs), Exeter, and Sidmouth.  Chagford was rained off unfortunately, as that is one of the prettier grounds I've played at.

Who did you play from Highgate?!  Glad to hear you had a good tour mate :)

Wow that guy must have had a screw or three loose... :S Glad you won the game though in the end..

I am not playing cricket at the moment as I am in Sri Lanka, but news has got to me that our 3s won yesterday.
We bowled them out for 161 in 39 overs and chased it down with 2 balls to spare (given 21 overs to chase it in...)
It was our local rivals North London so even better, athough chasing 162 at 8 an over oin their 2nd ground is a piece of cake, you can cut 6s LOL!

Why we manage to start winning when we are almost relegated is a mystery to me though... :(

He's played two CB40 games for Kent recently. Did he look as good playing off the back foot in person as he does on TV?

Mate, he looked good playing shots off front and back foot. It didn't matter where we bowled it, or where the fielders where. He hardly had any dot balls, and rarely hit the ball to the fielders. We would move the cover boundary sweeper up into the ring, next ball 4 through covers. Move mid off up into the ring, next ball 4 over the top. Serious talent! Seems like a nice kid too

We had a very good game yesterday, after getting to the ground with it raining at 1pm and then a start at 2.05pm. The game was reduced from 45 to 40. We were asked to bat first after losing the toss on a very wet wicket. I strapped the pads on after the wait and got out there. First ball caught at gully, was a very long walk off. At least our number 3 went on to hit 120 and he steadied the ship with our number 5 who made a solid 46. we then had some very quick runs from the lower order and once our number 8 had hit 3 consecutive sixes in the final over we finished on 225.

Me and our other opener bowled very tightly for the first 12 with no reward. Our skipper then came on and took a wicket straight away. One of the under 15's (in the first team for his fielding) took and amazing one handed catch to get rid of their opener. 2 of their players nearly took in away from us needing 7 an over. But our 2 left arm seamers bowled very well and took the rate back up to 10 an over. They needed 13 of the last over and we won by 7 runs.

Was our skippers last match before stepping down and we were buzzing after the win!

Had a good if rain affected win yesterday. Won the toss and batted on a decent if a tad unpredictable wicket. Their 2 openers were 15 and 16 but were by far the best bowlers I have faced this season and reduced us to 20 - 2 off 11 overs. (Got 9). The rain then descended and nearly ruined the game. Reduced it to 40:34 with us having 29 left, ended on 165, bowled them out for 9 odd taking a catch. Also somehow left my spikes at home so wore someones size 10 trainers to play in, im a size 12.5 so a bit painful but i definately wont make the same mistake again!

Not sure what the chap's name was - he knew you though.  They kicked it for the best part of 40 overs for 99 for the draw in a tour game after we had made 230-odd for 3 declared in 37.

Hmm can you describe him, I'd be intrigued to know who it was..? Was he a batsman/bowler/gun fielder?
It wasn't Joe was it?

We got turned over today by a side who played their home ground well. After a delayed start and a reduced over game (38 instead of 45) we posted 206/8 after being 31/3! Staged a recovery of sorts to get us something to bowl at.

They chased them down with 2 overs to spare and 8 wickets after their lads pummelled the 35 yard legside boundary from ome end...at a guess I'd say 120 runs came from ome end!!

I scored 111 (12 x 4 and 8 x 6) but all a bit hollow in defeat :(
Jesus Tom, wanna stop scoring runs and make the rest of us feel a little bit better about our batting? ;) haha top knock mate, racking them up this year, no?

We posted 409-9 from 50 overs. I was given the role of trying to hit out from ball 1. Needless to say i didnt get many, 6 runs from 4 balls, this from the late end of our overs.
Rain ment the game was shortened and the oppo was given a target of 260 odd from 21 overs.
Won quite easily and was given 1 over, bowled some grenades and figures of 1 over 1 wicket for 3 runs. They managed to get 111-7 from 21 overs.

Just a few mate, it was atrocious. Obviously, we havnt had an official umpire for either game, so its basically just been a farce. And as we have no official umpire we cannot report them to the league and get them fined or a point deduction. At least we won though!
