  • If I only could bat....

Given the concerns that some people have had with their boots, I thought I'd undertake a little survey.

I use Asics Strike Rate and I've never had any trouble with them.

Some cheap GN and Mitre ones from Intersport. £15 each, been brilliant!

Adidas 22Yards low. Instant broken toe with impact, and a lot of pain using them today and yesterday after breaking my ankle last year... Been meaning to buy some new shoes for ages but just haven't got round to it.....

Spiked up Adidas trainers with extra protection on some areas. They're for batting.
And for bowling I have Asics Gel 452 Not Out.

Never had any problems with either, the spiked Adidas trainers are absolutely superb!

Got the gold Adidas Twenty2yrds and they're lush, so comfortable. Before them I had some Puma Iridium rubbers which were a little narrow and seeing as i have wide feet it wasn't a great match - looked great though.

Asics gel 8 for 64 i bat, field and bowl in them if you can call it that lol!!! lovely boots very comfy and lots of protection. Only problem is getting them on and of, though i have heard a lot of good things about Puma bowling boots lately as Asics have stopped making a boot now and a lot of guys have switched to these.

I wore my asics gel advance 3 for the first time this weekend, and when i put them on i thought these are the best things ever, they honestly felt so comfy, but after about 30 overs of chasing leather they started to rub on my heel (the right one) and ended up with a nice blister..... has anyone else had this problem?

I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal.

This appears to be a recurring theme with the Gel advance shoes. My 2009 set gave me blisters, but since buying 1000 mile socks I've had no discomfort!

Plenty of other people have the same problem with them.

i have used adidas and nike and had no problems with either, nikes are far more confortable for me though! Never ventured towards asics due to the amount of people who get blisters!

Had some adidas boots a few seasons ago - were the most comfortable boots I've ever had, but I got really fed up with getting wet feet through the ventilation holes in the bottom of them (major design flaw for english club cricketers!!)

Either side of the Adidas I've had pumas, which have been superb, apart from the fact that on Saturday, I though I'd change the spikes in them. A team mate wished me good luck, as he said Puma's were notorious for seizing up and then ripping the thread out - he wasn't wrong, so if I want spikes longer than about 3mm I'm going to have to buy new boots rather than just replacing spikes every couple of seasons.

I'm yet to try Nike or Asics (I'm a firm beleiver in buying cricket boots from specialist shoe companies) - my experience with Asics running shoes is that they're a bit too narrow for me, though I guess cricket boots may well have a different fit.

Nike are my preferred running shoe, but from a cricket point of view, they've always seemed over-priced, plus they've been in and out of the market, which makes finding older models at bargain prices a bit harder
