Result of wearing a rival lid....
« on: May 08, 2011, 07:37:50 AM »

I know a few people who question the benefit of a safer helmet, I think a trip to Notts may yield sales for Sales.

Do you think he'd have been ok if he was wearing a different lid then?

Isn't it always going to be a problem if you take one in the grille as doesnt the grille end up tilting the helmet and results in the grille making contact with your face??

E.g pointing in the ashes......

If you have a helmet which fits your head properly and doesn't move around on impact, the grille should not hit your face. Tom had some simulation videos done showing this on Ayrtek lids.

Iv just driven to London this morning to drop a new grille to James Taylor he got hit twice om Friday by dernbach at 90 mph...one off a length straight on and once hooking. He has a small cut on the bridge of his nose where the helmet wasn't being worm tight enough under the chin strap by his own admission as well as the Leicester physios.

He's sending back the grille which has done it's job and has a couple of dents in it as a result!!! The combination of a helmet that it fitted properly via the ACIS, the 4 point chin strap and an actual titanium grille all stopped any serious injury!

For the sake of parity, do we know for certain that the serious injury caused in the case shown by the OP was directly due to the type of helmet that was used?

I don't doubt that the Ayrtek helmets are the best available, if anyone isn't convinced by the technology, just look at the sudden adoption of them by many counties this year. Obviously people in the know realise the benefits Ayrtek helmets offer.

I delivered 3 lids to the Somerset boys for Tom on Wednesday, and if you want to know what they thought of them then the answer is that they were fighting over them. Trego did not get his as we were chatting and Kieswetter took it, 2 of the boys walked out and batted in them within an hour of getting them. Kirb's was saying how he wears the ball all the time and needed this lid as the other brands simply did not do a good enough job.

I'm not saying that Hales would have been absolutely fine in an Ayrtek but the research and verdict of the Pro's I've spoken to is that they rate them far above any other brand, only got to see the lines of them in county colours on Tom's office floor to see this is going to be the only helmet worn very very soon on the Pro circuit.
