I read that in the Times this morning - it would have been nice (and actually not the worst idea) if he had been given the first ball in the test too... I would have given the new ball to him regardless on the sentimentality of it.

Amen to that. What with him being an fec. Mind you, the selector kept faith with cookie and he cane good in a big way. I can't stand the petulant little **** but if he comes good then its for the best of the team.

I'm just wondering whether it's broads plan to bowl like he is then he deserves the scorn or whether he is taking flack for a team plan

tbh Broad is taking all the flack but on his day hes one of the best England has to offer, strange how Bell never seemed to ever get dropped a few years back when he was in awfull form

Urm Bell got dropped after the West Indies collapse.
since his return to the side he has averaged 69... which is better than Trott and Cook in the same period (shhh don't tell people that, they might realise he is our best player now)
