Right, I'm not entirely sure what this is, as I picked it up off ebay for not a lot. It clearly has a Scoop sticker on the front, but not the back and a profile that is not dissimilar to a Powerspot, although the rear sticker is not off a power spot... The willow is fairly old and certainly well used.

Anyone got any ideas? It weighs in at just under 2lb 10oz and surprisingly, when hit with the mallet, it actually rebounded reasonably. I reckon you could use it relatively easily in a game! Oh, and it also has a two spring handle.

Anyhow, here are the pics. Any suggestions...?

Didn't Gn used to make a bat called a Crusader, which I seem to remember had a traditional profile? The GN 100 sticker on the front throws an element of confusion in there though...

Well I can state that it isn't a Powerspot. Got my hands on one and the profile is completely different, just to eliminate something from the confusion...

What's up this time? A pre-Atherton Gray Nicolls Powerspot is what.

This one weighs in at 2.11 without the grip, which was knackered and has never been used. As you can see, it has a rubbish grain structure, which leads me to believe that it is at best Grade 4 English, but in reality, I believe it is a Kashmir Willow edition. I gave it a quick coat of oil to see whether that would make it any easier to see. Sadly the model sticker is missing.

Now I've said before that I believe that Powerspots don't have a middle, however, when using the mallet on this one, I was shocked as I found it! And it's a reasonable size. I hadn't realised just how low a middle these bats have, and they are surprisingly solid pieces of wood.

Yeah 1988 would be close I reckon...just trying to remember how old I was when I had it.

David Boon used one for a bit and also Simon O'Donnell...Thats why I bought one...lol

I return home from work today to find this in the house curtsey of my mom for the grand total of �2.50

GM Imperial Long Handle
weighing in at 2lb 9oz it is a sure fire retro bat with a very classic profile and 15mm edges (i would say)
It seems to have a very heavy pick up but after having a little play with the eye-in ball it seems quite nice

So I got my hands on a Gray Nicolls Scoop 2000 which I thought was vaguely appropriate given the recent news....

She is as I remember her. The pictures say it all. What I still find astonishing is that Brian Lara scored 375 with one of these. It has no discernible middle and frankly sucks as a bat. For something that weighs 2lb 8oz and picks up ok, it really is astonishingly poor, even though it is Kashmir. Ideal for the nurdler, no full blooded drive is really going to make it off the square, at least, not with this one. It is remarkably well preserved, perhaps because the previous owner used it a couple of times then moved on to something with a middle.

What I find most intriguing is that the profile view is almost exactly the same as the T20 bat that GN came out with last year... Wonder where the inspiration came from!?
