Yup. Silly rule introduced to stop scuffing the ball to induce reverse swing that is hardly ever achieved at club cricket level and doesn't seem to be being enforced at First Class level.

Had the obvious not giving him out cause hes my mate umpires as well as the umpires who wont give their sons out or their kids giving their dads out. Worst one iv'e had is when an umpire signalled a 4 against us and it stopped about 5 foot from the boundary. The bowler got so mad he refused to bowl and proceeded to walk off the pitch calling the umpire an effing cheat. The umpire than went after him and they started squaring up to each other. It ended up in a mass brawl with the game getting abandoned

Arghh I had one of those this year too in the national cup... panel umpires aswell! Shocking! I slid and stopped the ball about a foot in from the rope and umpire signaled four. After a quiet word explaining I had stopped it he reversed the decision.

I got wided twice indoor for bowling the ball in between the batsmen and the stumps after he had backed away to be told "if it's past leg stump it's wide no matter where the batsmen is" cheers

Well I was pulled away by my mate as he knew I was going to blow as once is a mistake twice is being a muppet

Just remembered had to tell the ump the rules sat as he said an lbw was close when it pitched outside leg so I said "it pitched outside" to which he said "but you didn't play a shot" that one stumped me as he has passed the league umpiring course can any one explain that to me??

I love it when an umpire has something happen in the game, is clearly clueless, looks around sheepishly, and calls no ball out of nowhere! Had that happen a few times in OZ, wasnt happy!

Oh yh just remembered another one. Our best spinner had one of their batsmen lbw which was so plumb but the umpire gave it not out.
When the umpire was asked why he was not out he said it was because he didn't know the laws, he knew enough to signal wide the ball before 
Another one is the batsmen was stumped by such a margin that he almost started to walk and his team-mates on the boundary also gave him out, the umpire then turned round and called him back as he made his ground

we had an umpire who reported me to the league for backing up to much lol i said to the umpire the rule changed your aloud as far down as long as the bowler is in his bowling stride . He then showed me a rule book from 2003 saying you cant back up that far .
He gave a dead ball and then 5 penalty runs lol later that year i had a leeter of apology saying the rule book was out of date .

Had one the other week who warned us all before we took to the field that due to new rules this season when a bowler comes on to bowl he can only bowl a couple of practice deliveries to another teammate if the ball doesn't touch the ground.....however I have seen all the bowlers in the current test match bowl the ball into the ground before starting a new spell, was he right? Have the rules changed? We lacked the skills to do this so ignored him anyway....! 

It is a stupid rule, I played in a game the other week where we were awarded penalty runs for one of the opposition pitching warm ups to a fielder, the guy did it 3 times and was warned the first 2 times not to do it so it wasn't like he didn't have a chance not to.

We'd bowled first and one of our bowlers had a warm up to me and it was going to land short of me so I had to dive full length to get under it the bowler and half our team looked at me like I was mad until the same umpire started to have a good chuckle and told them why I had dived forward.

Ive been given a wide before from a ball that missed off stump by about 5cm after seaming in down a hill and the umpires reason was it was a wide when the ball pitched.

And also in a friendly one of there batsman edged behind massive edge whole team started celebrating then we realised that no one had give it and the batsman wasent walking and the worst thing is the umpire was an ex player of ours who is still a friend of the club and i got a wicket exactly the same the over before.

A lad yesterday was given out lbw on the front foot when it hit his thigh guard and he's 6ft3
