Anyone had one of these?

Saturday was a perfect example of this, I hit the ball out to deep cover, coming back for a third run the umpire calls it one short by me (correct decision). Then goes on to lecture me about how that is an intentional attempt by me to cheat and if it happens again I will be docked runs... then goes and has a right go at our skipper.  Absolutely ridiculous, surely a polite warning would be enough.

You lot must have some better stories...

Our umpire stopped the game for 10 mins until someone sat in the score box as there scorer said she was claustrophobic to which his reply was well you came here in a car so you can sit in a score box and game was stopped till one of there players went in the s ire box

We had an umpire reverse a decision last season, as per a DRS review.

He gave a batsman out LBW (it was a poor decision), and his team mates collectively groaned from the sidelines when the finger went up. The player kicked off, so the umps changed his mind!

Oooo just remembered a good one... playing in a friendly so no umpires were provided. Their opener nicks one behind in the first over, everyone goes up and the young umpire gives it putting his finger up. Batsman stares at the umpire who then goes "sorry sorry not out" and proceeds to reverse the decision! Shocking!

We had one of those with a run out a few years ago bloke run out by a yard kid at square started to raise his finger till he got the look then put it away

Had one the other week who warned us all before we took to the field that due to new rules this season when a bowler comes on to bowl he can only bowl a couple of practice deliveries to another teammate if the ball doesn't touch the ground.....however I have seen all the bowlers in the current test match bowl the ball into the ground before starting a new spell, was he right? Have the rules changed? We lacked the skills to do this so ignored him anyway....!

The rules have changed as apparently bowling the ball into the turf to warm up is altering the state of the ball

Hes 100% correct, introduced this year to prevent the deliberate scuffing of the ball by bowling the ball into the ground. Was also told off for this by an umpire this year!

Well, you learn something new everyday! I've seen numerous guys in the first class and test games doing it this season though? Wouldn't make any difference at the level I play at but can see the reasoning behind it, especially with an abrasive pitch...

You will also see the same with outfielders when throwing the ball in from the outfield.

We've had this issue too. I went to the WEPL (West of England Premier league) captains meeting, and the chairman stated that this law will not be enforced in the Wepl this year. Yet most umpires and opposition have had a go at us for doing it this season.....

Umpire stopped me from doing it on Saturday in a WEPL game, and apologised saying he thinks its rubbish but rules is rules!!

Yeah most Premier leagues have refused to enforce this law which is fair enough, also don't go by the international games as 99% of the time they have special regulations to cover this type of thing!

Wasn't there also a rule introducted that batsmen couldn't hit a few balls or net before going out to the middle as well? As I've seen many people doing it before coming into bat, but I thought it was a law introduced?
