people with the straps pointing outward, why don't you just fold the velcro on itself and wear them the right way?
Old style pads with a bigger front foot bolster were the way forward.

Straps pointing outwards for me, on my older pads the straps were too long so they used to dangle a bit so they couldn't be on the inside of the pad. However my Puma pad straps are the perfect size for me, so it doesn't matter which way they go but I always put them on so that the straps are facing outwards by habit.

outward, it's the right way, although my keeping pads force me to do it the other way because theyre designed to be worn the wrong way

Buckles/straps should/MUST be worn on the outside so that you don't have a loose bit of strap dangling for the ball to clip on the way through - given caught out off the pad strap would be a dissapointing way to go.

This isn't/shouldn't be a debate.  Actually there is another thread on this somewhere where the arguments are laid out - I will attempt to dig it up.

And the extra cane on your front leg in kookaburra top end pads is for extra protection on your front leg - I think it is great personally...

same as tumo, hate having them catching and coming loose on the inside. I make sure they are securely fixed on the outside tho so little chance of the ball clipping them.

Yeah, I sometimes double them over a little, so that they don't stretch off the end of the pad. I hate them when they flick against each other on the inside, and it's psychological in my head now, if I don't do it then my routine is ruined haha!

They are designed to be worn with the straps pointing in but I always wear them with the straps pointing out due to having particularly skinny legs as a kid and the velcro rubbing.

Whilst we are on the subject, who is it that decides some of the strap lengths on pads?!? My Kook Kahuna Keeping pads from about 3 seasons ago have a top strap that would fit round my waist!!!

It's Velcro. You double it over so that the bit sticking out isn't. Same argument applies on keeping the buckles on the outside to stop the ends of the velcro sticking to the other pad. With exception to the Kooks, I remember when pads had more front foot padding, which always solved this problem for you. Them were the days.

I would rather the ridiculously tiny chance of being given out off my pad strap once in a life-time than have my pads keep undoing eachother as i run. Straps always outside for me, if they are too long then either fold them over or cut off the excess.
Although my current Puma pads have quite short straps which is nice  8)

To help settle this:

my new kook pads have the straps facing IN. and i have to wear them like that as the front pad has the extra cane

Ive always worn mine with the buckle on the inside, think that's the best way forward. i had some woodworm pads that had to be worn that way round due to the branding. if i wore them the wrong way round then the branding would be on the inside of the pads not the outside. hope that makes sense.

the over lapping straps or the straps getting caught on the ball etc
