If I've got to sit through another day of Cook nudging the ball around off ineffective bowlers then I'm off shopping with the wife!

You obviously never had to sit and watch Geoff Boycott bat

Yes saw Boycott play. To be fair to him most test match cricket was played at not much faster pace then and they used spindly bats that couldn't get it off the square. Cook's bat is like half a tree, not that it gets much use!

A bit ridiculous really.
Especially when he makes his come back...

Sir... Seriously?

Of recent England cricketers, he should've been no better than eighth in line for high honour. Cook was a hard headed pragmatist with the bat, and a great example to kids of how to make the most of what they have but... his yes man approach to the ECB, ruin of the one day team and backstabbing of Pietersen should have mitigated against...

Much as his post playing career has drawn my ire, Strauss, as the skipper who won down under, had a better claim.

Compared to the other clowns who have and have had awards over the years at least a cricketer has something. Sure he’s had his issues (being a yes man, clearing out the most talented play England have had etc) but .. but ... 100+ tests in a row, 100 on debut be the best team England have played for the last 12/13 years and he’s managed to do what literally NO other England player since Strauss/trott has managed!!! To consistently bat long without resorting to bidfing

Does he deserve it ?? Depends if you feel it’s deseeved by half the others called Sir or not really. Compared to the modern criteria, well batted chef. Enjoy and score plenty of county runs please

The real question is when will the crown prince of Yorkshire Geoffrey Boycott will get his long overdue knighthood ?

Don't think they give knighthoods to those found guilty of domestic violence.

Definitely doesn’t deserve one yet - took botham years to get one and that was for his charity work.
It was a bit like handing obe’s for winning the ashes.

A few honours also handed out to footballers - not like they won the World Cup.
