and the Stig is my new best friend  - he is being unbelieveably tight about his bats though     

on a more serious note the pads are quite a bit lighter (and a brilliant deal) but offer the same levels of protection as my old kook ones and the gloves were a bargain, so it was a no brainer, while the Icon was just an ebay gamble

Did you see the Stig's bat Buzz? Everytime I asked what he uses and if he'll bring it along, he looks kind of nervous and suspicious!! Almost as if I would mug him on the way out of the barn if he did bring it!

Pete, I genuinly have never seen it - although i do know he likes bats in th 2.8 to 2.9 region tops. He doesn't like a heavy bat. - which is quite two faced of him as he would happily half inch one of your bats!!

Could you please do your absolute best to persuade the Stig to bring his match bat or his net bat? Do you think he uses a GM for matches and either an SS or SF in the nets, ala Ravi?

I think he is a bit of a bat whore - trying different shapes all the time - which is why he loves the Batoff's. Pretty sure he is very loyal to GM though

Yeah, so this might change.......

At training tonight we didn't a bleep test with pads and gloves on. These pads are too bulky, it's the top hat that's the problem for me. I obviously didn't know thesis when I tried them in the shop as I wasn't running around or wearing my spikes. I should have just got the Kook pads which I lined up next to them.

give them time to break in as will become a bit more supple i would have thought

I'm 6ft 2, my last 3 pairs of pads have been Kookaburra and are on the smaller side of men's. These newberys seem to be on the larger size of men's. They felt fine when stood there in the shop with them on.

Tom, will wearing them in help? It's the top hats that's causing the problems

i've got a pair of SPS pads, which i find just fine on my little legs (i'm only 5' and i used to find my old kahuna pontings a little on the large side in that the top hat came up a little higher, but i had no real problem with them, guess it's just whether you can get used to them or not Liam as Tom said, they will mould more so the top hat may not seem such an issue later on

They are very very nice, I have to many pads, but I could see myself purchasing a set of those sometime!
