Winter season umpiring starts next Saturday which will finish a three week lay off from umpiring.

Getting a little work done on my knee in the 'off' season which will have me missing a weekend or two then heavily into some net sessions being coached by John Bell (what a great coach) facing some rapid bowling around the 140 k mark. Helps with the seeing when umpiring and getting some more match fitness for the big interstate matches in November.

playing Winter. First training today, We start playing next weekend. I think my team covers quite an area. Around a 90 kilometre stretch on the coast. Also our team is playing up a year but most players are 2 years under. Should be a good season. Plus im playing rugby before each match so will be well and truly stuffed after each day.

First win of the season - bowled first and the oppostion hit 169-9

I opend the batting again - shared a 138 partnership, before my partner went for 62. We lost one more wicket but I carried my bat for 86

Lost today, wasw an absolute farce. Game was reduced to 32 overs each.
Pissed it down all day, only 2 games in the County's premier and first divison wern't cancelled. The division 2 game on the pitch next to the one I was playing on (same team the 2 pitches sperated by a row of trees/hedge) was cancelled. We lost the toss were put in and bowled out for 90. I made a duck... I faced the same ball 4 times in terms of line and length, 2 skidded, one cut away and left me, the 4th popped and hit the shoulder of the bat and was taken by slip. During the tea break it hammered it down but 5 minuets of clear skies was enough for their captain to get on the pitch. Our opening bowler slipped and screwed his knee mid delivery so he couldn't bowl. Puddles started to form in the middle of the pitch and all around the outfield. I bowled 2 overs for 6 and then the captain told me quote "bowl full tosses and let them hit you for four, get this over with" unquote. First ball drilled at mid off, who moved out of the way to let it go for 4 Absolute farce, we couldn't abandon the game without the opposition captain agreeing. They were an absolute bunch of bellends.

Absolutelty battered the other side today. We scored 158-3 off of 20 overs with one of our opening batsmen getting 50 retired. Then restricted them to 60 odd for about 5 wickets. I scored 13 off of about 14 balls at the end. The pitch was pretty good but the ground was really slow had two shots that stopped about 1 metre short of the boundary.

I played yesterday, took a leg side stumping off our opening bowler in the fourth over, pitch was really placid and slow, our spinner enjoyed it getting 2 wickets. I then made 22 and we were bowled out for just over 100.

Good day :D
