where in the order do you bat normally or like to?
what speed was the bowling machine set at?
what bat is it and the weight?
I've batted at 1, 3 and 6 this year. I like opening but we have two good openers already and I only tend to do it when one of them can't play.
The machine was set at about 60-65mph.
My bat is a Slazenger V2 - I'm sure some people on here would spit on it if they could ;-) and it weighs about 2.7
To me you looked like a strong front foot batter who likes to drive. I thought your back-lift at 90 degrees looks 'text book' although it's a very individual thing and wondered about how your feet are as the ball is released; I like to be on the balls of my feet but u looked flat, which personally makes me slower to react.
Good point, I do look flat. I'm conscious of tipping over though and sometimes feel like I'm leaning over to the off side and start getting off balance. I was just consciously trying to stand more upright/balanced
I've been wondering about a trigger movement too and whether to introduce one when i next get into a practice net or session which your videos has made me want to do.. it's been 2 months!!! not sure if this is possible or wise.
Any comments anyone?
I've tried before and it sort of worked but I end up moving when my head should be still so I stopped it.
I also wondered if any of your front defensive shots could be driven away comfortably for singles or twos and whether it's risky to play around your legs onto the onside which leads me to my last question...
Definitely, I was just concentrating on good shape and not trying to hit too hard.
Which ball gets you out most often or did last season?
I was bowled mostly and LBW several times, albeit by good balls (aren't they always!) I remember one match where I couldn't play the guy's inswingers for toffee. I was also bowled first ball by another inswinging delivery. I'd say bowled is probably my main method of getting out, usually playing across the line although that's what I'm trying to sort out!!! I can't remember the last time I edged behind or was caught on the boundary.
Thanks guys.. sorry James, hope I haven't hi-jacked your post...
Thanks for the videos... hope my questions and comments are worthwhile..
Not at all, it's great that people are interested in talking about this stuff.
Your comment and question are very much appreciated thank you.
