Just wondering what people think has been the best bat trend throughout this forum and Cricket Supplies.

I remember warsop being very popular and the same with Fusion but both hardly get mentioned these days. i think people used to seek out some really good bats.

Newbery seem to have the best reputation at the moment in my view, Lavers also i feel if James was based in the UK with the price difference he would be the most popular.

The so called big brands have stayed strong throughout, with the exception of Slazenger who seem to lack any credability now. Around 2000 they made some really good bats.

fusion was probably the first i remember and the one i remember fondistly, simply because i ordered my fusion and it was my fave bat, and still owuld be but it broke

i remember people going mad for Matrixx, SS, SAF and Laver bats funniest thing is good old Dave (Pro cricket) purchasing just about every pair of pads on the market till he got some Gray Nicolls legend then i think he sold them too!!!

The one thing I have realised whilst being a member here and having had the run of PeteHosk's fine bat collection is that practically every batmaker can produce a fantastic bat. Your almost better off picking based on stickers and price as all the makers can produce an excellent stick that will perform as you want it to.

I rarely, if ever, read of anyone providing a poor bat and when I do it seems to very much be the exception to the rule and not the norm...

That's a fair view, and having a not quite Hosk-esque bunch of bats myself, I'd have to agree with it. None of Instinct, Newbery, Laver & Wood, Bulldog, H4L or Lekka have provided me with a bad bat. All are very good. You are unlikely to get a bad bat! Haven't used the SAF yet, so can't add it to the list, but it looks good!

In terms of the trends though, I'd say that in the last 12 months it's been very much Laver & Wood and H4L. Oh, and Sports Direct!

I know you meant bat makers by bat trends.
But you could also read it as bat trends like carbo handles, more than 15 grains, laminates, etc!!
The one trend I see as been quite consistent is people wanting BIG EDGES!

And my view is that big edges look the part, and logically you'd say that if a bat has big edges, it's more likely to have more wood and therefore a better middle....this is not always the case!
I have a BAS with 'normal' edges and an Adidas Incurza Elite which one weighs 2'8/9 with small edges, and both bats go like rockets!!

That Incurza absolutely flew the other night and it's like a matchstick! Funny, had never rated Adidas bats at all until then...just goes to prove that every maker can make/supply you with an awesome bat. It's more about finding a profile that suits you and a cost/set of stickers that you like the look of!

To be fair, that Adidas surprised me too! I think I almost killed the ball feeder and you several times!
And the youngters in the next net soon started looking concerned for their safety!!
Some of it is pot luck though, cos you could probably choose 10 of the Adidas bats and 2 or 3 would be exceptional, 5 would be average, and the remainder would be planks!

Anyay, the Ultra Laver trend seems to be the new interesting bat trend at the moment. Canners bat with 45mm+ edges on a 2'8/9 bat is showing real interest!! 

And shark fins like those older American cars!
