My New AM Plain
« on: February 26, 2009, 02:37:31 PM »

Hi Guys,

Just got gifted a plain AM bat by Asad from AS Sports. Was very happy to see such a kind gesture on Asad's part. However, when I saw the bat, I was overwhelmed with joy.

I have bought many bats since my relocation to the UK last year, but this bat is right up there with some of my best bats like the Newbery UZI C6+ (again bought from Asad) and the Screaming Cat.

The bat is massive to look at but picks-up like a breeze. The pick-up, balance and grains are excellent.

I have just tapped this bat with a mallet and it sounds sweet. I still have to try it in the nets, but I am sure it will not let me down on my expectations.

Apparently, this one of the many bats that Asad got made from scratch (right from choosing the willow to the final bat making) when he last visited Pakistan earlier this year.

Though not related to this purchase, but my best buying experience has been with Asad. He listens and then uses his excellent knowledge to send the best bats as per your requirements. Quite a gift. The personalized service is what I like. All emails, phone calls etc. are always responded to.

When I was buying my Newbery C6+ from Asad, it was the first time I hear a retailer telling me that a particular bat would not suit my style of play and recommended better options.

I was thinking of buying a Am or CA bat from one of the many advertised and other retailers, but the biggest advantage I think of buying the bats from Asad are his - honestly, unbiased opinion and to top it he is based in the UK (so returns are possible). (Btw he does not create a fuss about returns if they are legitimate claims. Again personal experience)

Without saying anything more, here are some of the pictures of the bat (Still in its packing; will be unleashed in the nets today).

AM is one of the well known brand from Pakistan. Younis Khan used to use their bat one time.

Bucko - I think I understand what you mean - i.e. you're not keen on the style of bats made by the asian manufacturers, but please think about what you're typing, as the way you've posted it could easily be mis-understood
