I use an Ayrtek when keeping, no problems at all for me.
Not sure what I will do when I turn 18 and don't have to wear a lid when standing up...

I'm not a wicket keeper, and never have been, so I'm not really sure what I'd use, but Masuri do a specialist lid for keepers, and we stock it, as you can see here:

Aside from the shortened peak, there's not much difference to their normal helmets.  We couldn't help but notice that the other specialist helmet manufacturers don't yet offer specific wicket keeping helmets, and Aero's is very expensive, so there's potentially a gap in the market here...

Goes the other way by curving up so that the shell doesn't dig into ur neck....this area was pointed out as an area needing attention by the ICC as ur natural reaction is to turn ur head and would therefore exposure the bottom of ur neck

few reason when your keeping and your crouched down i find the helmets dont let enough light in.

Would there be a market for a transparent helmet?

I had an aero mask but could not get on with it at all, found it hugely uncomfortable. Sold that and got an Albion lid which I found quite comfy and offered better visibility for me than the masuri. Changing to ayrtek soon though

man up and just stick a gumshield in to protect to pearly whites. anything else in the face can be dealt with aha

Sadly the vast majority of pitches I play on don't allow for such confidence, taking one in the eye is not something I would like to experience either!

took one in the cheek last season, wasnt soo much the impact of the ball that did the damage, but the seam cut my face
i mya have been lucky in my experience tho only hit 2 or 3 times to slow ish seamers so its just about bearable

Yea I have only been hit once in the mouth when the ball flicked off the top off the ball to a medium pacer. Never wore a lid until the last year or so now that I have a mortgage and need to be able to work! Also pitches round my way seem to be worse than ever and I have taken to standing up to a lot more bowlers, all but one who is an absolute scattergun!

I had a top edged cut hit me a couple of years back, it burst through the gap between peak and grill (on the closest setting) that cracked my cheek bone and was unable to see out of that eye for about a week, i hate to think of the damage that would have caused had the helmet not taken some of the impact, for those reasons im in a lid!

That's right, as Masuri would say, there is a scalloped back rim - their reasoning being that it gives freedom of movement when in the crouch position.

As I've said before, I'm not a wicket keeper, but if a highly regarded, specialist helmet manufacturer is making a helmet specific to wicket keeping that's half the price of the alternatives on the market, I would know what I'd go for...
