What Canners said. Kangroo stuff are good.
It's very hit and miss though, as they don't make any themselves. Rather source from different factories around Meerut, so you get varying levels of quality depending on who's made them or who's offcuts they get.

They only make Carrom boards (or did when I visited)

Kangroo is the specialist cricketing arm of MB; they do outsource though but are more involved in cricket nowadays. But because of outsourcing their prices will be more than some of the independent manufacturing units in Jallandhar and even Indore for that matter.

They're based in Meerut, as I met Nitin 2 years ago - at that stage it was just Carrom being made in the MB/Kangroo factory. These exact pads were in the show room along with his full Kangroo range as I remember joking with the Aussies I was with about the dodgy spelling! £21.50 is about £7 too expensive for moulded pads.

There's hundreds of 'manufacturers' on AliBaba who just outsource. In fact it's not uncommon to visit them and they'll take you to another persons factory, and pass it off as their own!

Be very careful of Alibaba---- full of fake dealers who use real names; learn to haggle with these guys and the price will come down drastically. But will be a struggle with the bigger ones though.

Agree to that last part; it is very difficult to find the 'right' one unless you know your way around them.

Did you visit the Punjab by any chance Tom?

Meerut is a big hub. The other one is the Punjab.

Some of the smaller units in Jallandhar make good stuff, really cheap and good. Finishing might not be too consistent though.

What was your experience with the smaller factories around Meerut? There are tons of them there as well. Some of them do very good work.

Absolutely! Learn the art of haggling and make sure you keep your eyes and ears open when making deals and you will be fine.

Oh-- dont forget to visit the Taj Mahal  ;)
