He got 2 test hundreds against West Indies, when hardly in their pomp! He's just got a pea heart! Doesn't ever look to dominate the bowling. Would get anyone in there at 3 but him!

I have ato agree with Nickauger, I have never rated him at all. I know he had a couple of good innings in the ODI's but personally have never been a fan of his in the international set up.

And to answer the question of who I'd have playing instead, You could have a bowler or batsmen, as Trott and KP can bowl as well! I think Bopara's bowling is mediocre at best

But would Bresnan scored the runs though? This innings the bowling looked fine, the batting has just let us down a bit I feel.

I gotta say Ravi from Eng and Rohit Sharma from India are identical cases, they both look really good but lack that little something for the international level.

Lots of potential but thats it potential...

Why? You said you would pick him because he can bowl a bit! Plenty of people can bat in that line-up. Bopara is a bits and pieces player who is a little bit rubbish at both! You can't use up that many balls, and get out playing a nothing shot like that! And there's no need for your tone really is there? I've made no personal attack on you!

No im saying its an extra string to his bow and that theres no other viable selection, which you have proved

Just out of curiosity, would Eng ever bring back Collingwood...He might not look as good but he could stick in there and get some runs,,, i mean compare him to Ravi and my gut would say you could depend more on Colly then Ravi...

I don't think Bopara is a T-20 player.. he has a good technique but have never seen him winning matches for England. To replace Bopara, England have Ian Bell, cook, Trott, Wright..

Total rubbish. Sharma has shown to be the real deal. The pressure on Sharma is because he's keeping Shewag/Gambhir/Tendulkar out the side.

Bopara is an ordinary player at best.

I always thought Bopara was over 30 with all the criticism which comes his way. Was really surprised to see that he is not yet 27. He has a better test record than Morgan for one.
