big problem for me when the opposition cross the line with their chat, i can handle the normal 'banter', but when it is taken too far i cant seem to resist getting wound up and losing focus on what i am trying to achieve in the specific situation.
so, this season i am going to (secretly!) study from a guy at our club who thrives on this sort of thing (as not to reveal the cricket obsessed maniac that i am). he has a reputation for playing big, big innings in ill tempered games, if i notice anything about his approach i will pass it on to you lot. from previous observations, he likes to give as good as he gets, both with his mouth and, more importantly, with his bat.
right now (pre-study) i think its more the strong character and mental strength of this person, combined with a natural ability for batting and a craving for competition which stimulates him in these situations.
