First friendly is on 21st April so not long now, it's usually haunts lisvane who we have played for the last few years and followed by a game against local rivals bishopston the week after.

Played our first game today against Driglington Whitehall from the Dales Council. Played a format of 11+ players (though only 11 field) and both teams bat the overs. Drig batted first and on a very low/slow deck they got 174 off 40. Despite being 5-3 & 20-4  we fell just 1 run short off our 40. Track wasn't great with plenty of erratic (but low) bounce, but considering the track was covered in snow 72 hours ago you can't complain.

My contribution with the ball was 4-20 off my 4 overs, we gave 10 guys 4 overs each. I chipped in during the slog with 10 with the bat, notable for my first scoring shot of the season being a back force over extra cover for 6. Would've been more impressive had the offside boundary not been approx 35 yards away, as we played on the edge of the square. Top edged a ball that popped on me and my fun was over :-(

Looks like I'm moving clubs this year (although nothing confirmed yet) so not at all sure when my first game is!

I'm moving up to sunny Bristol in 2 weeks time so looking to play for a team up there. Will be sad to leave my club but I think the best way to meet new people in a new area is to join a sports club, so that's what I'm going to do :)

Tons of forumites in the Bristol area. Tomtek and Peplow (when he's not at uni) to name a couple - I'm sure they can hook you up

Very true, there could be a forum club based in Bristol I reckon! I've been talking to a mate of mine this week who plays for Bedminster and that looks the most likely option, as I already know a few guys there... Just a shame that they are in the same league as my current club!

I'm looking at some places tomorrow, looking in Clifton, Filton and Downend!
