Very good weekend of cricket for myself. Had a game yesterday and got 3-7 of 9 overs best figures yet and made 18 Not out, Shame we lost! Also bowled 1-13 of 6 overs today and made 3 and then got to watch Scotland versus Surrey as they were playing 2 minutes away from were our match was!

good weekend for me. Skippered the 2nd XI due to the Captain and VC going away on the same weekend. In the league we scored 269-4 in 45 overs and bowled them out for 172ao. My contribution was 3-17 in 11 overs and my league bowling stats after 3 games stand at 26.1-8-36-5 :-)

Sunday we were playing in the cup against the 2nd best 2nd XI in our league, 3 divisions higher. We scored 208 and bowled them out for 27, making a mockery of the standings albeit they struggled for availability.

First game of the season, only had 1 net (a week ago) in the past 9 months, too much dossing about in France! Lost by 2 wickets, all out 104. We were 94-4 at one point too, we just had a collapse. Got an LBW I wasn't toooo chuffed about, as I was walking off the keeper went off to celebrate and all I heard was "that was dubious!" which said it all. Made a fight of it though, our quickie got their best 2 bats in the first over off consecutive balls, and then got them to 40-5, but then their other good bat and the "leg-side slogger" (you know the one, the one that plays all around most balls and then slogs the one honing in for middle stump for 4 every sodding over?!) put on about 45, then I got rid of both of them including my first c+b in 13 attempts (and I nearly shelled that one!), but then they scrambled over the line. Lost one of our lads after 20 overs, twisted his knee (has had problems in the past) and we had a lad who was scared of the ball and the ball followed him, so we essentially had 9 fielders for the innings! Dropped 2 catches, although both were diving at full stretch, and the first was absolutely rocketing, to the point that it almost re-dislocated my finger and is now swollen like God knows what! Finished with 9-1-22-2, decent effort but in vain really!

Donned my whites for the first time this season yesterday and fielded first, it showed that we hadn't played since last September when they were 50-1 off 10 overs!

We managed to pull it back and restrict them to 180/7 off the 40 overs which wasn't a bad effort seeing as one of their lads scored 102 of them.

We didn't get off to the best start losing our opener 2nd ball of our innings and our number 3 followed shortly after leaving us with 3 runs for the loss of 2 wickets off 3 overs :( I was put in at #4 and managed to drag it back a bit before getting out LBW. Managed to dislocate my finger whilst stopping the ball for the bowler that a fielder had thrown back after a boundary which wasn't idea and not something I'll be doing again to be helpful.

We ended up all out for 138 I think which was disappointing as when I got out we needed 100 off of 23 overs with 7 wickets in hand.

Bit of a shame Tom - I hope to be available this week if my back is better!!  Not managed to get a game yet this season or have any nets due to the injury, so think I will be rather rusty!!!!

Our season started yesterday, home to what I thought would be a strong opposition in Christchurch CC.
The track wasn't too bad, no covers at our ground.

It's just 1 ball for the game so I was going to bowl if I'd won the toss, but we were asked to bat.
The openers both like to tee off and we got past 50 in 7 overs.
The first wicket fell for 69, the second at 135. I was batting at 4 and the butterflies were going.
I got off the mark quickly, walked down the track to an offy, and took a single.
I normally score with a lot of boundarys but only had 2 in my innings. For the 4 I walked to the bowler and clipped it behind square leg up the hill.
With about 10 overs left I swapped to the Hattori to try and push on in the last 10 as we had some quality still to come in.
I quickly hit a 6 off of their returning quick, I know him fairly well and he's a decent player, plays in Dorset premier division on a Saturday. I tried some shots I normally wouldn't, just trying to rotate the strike with the lad I've been netting with all winter. I was with him as he brought up 50 then he really motored. 2 overs from one end went for 26!
Brought up his hundred with a quick single to big big applause! 108 not out for him

I ended up on 44 not out, 22 of those in singles.
We finished on 266-2. We would have settled for 160 if it was offered!

Then in the field, I kept wicket I've not done it in 3 years I don't think and I am aching today!
The oppo never set about going after the total so bowled a couple of lads I hadn't really considered bowling. 1 lad on debut for the club, not played since school 22 years ago, took a wicket in his first over, caught and bowled!

Also a young lad only 13 took a 2fer as well.
I managed to catch one standing up to the stumps!
We bowled them out for 92!

Managed to get a game on Sunday.  We batted first on a very soft wicket (I reckon it'll be July before they play on it again), were reduced to 23-5 when I came in, having dropped down for some of our bigger hitters got run out for a second (that was never on) for 6 although I had batted for an hour and half!  We finished on 99-6 from 35, and bowled them out for 84 with 4 overs remaining.  All in all it was a very good allround performance especially in the field.  scoring was very hard, although having played twice on slow wet wickets this season I really need to get some more confidence in playing scoring shots, I never looked like getting out on Sunday, but a few more runs would of been nice even though my job was to hold up one end.  Any advice would be appreciated!
