Got a cup final tomorrow night in our t20 cup, only a local one but looking forward to picking up some silverware early on in the season as long as the weather stays dry.

Not many runs yet - but then I should try to use them one at a time like other people!  :(

Pete, bring as many as can fit in your car, then I can forget about the match and just spend the afternoon admiring them.

The good news for you is we are missing our best player, who has an average of 124. the rest of us will struggle to score 124 between us.

looking forward to meeting you
jason

PS, Would like to see the chase

After getting 3 ducks in a row, and moaning on here, I got 52 on saturday. Played myself in then batted relatively sensibly, and rode my luck (only 4 drops haha) but then I believed I deserved some luck after my start to this season. Felt good to be back. We scored 242-3 off our 45 overs, against a former test leggie (Adam Huckle, Zimbabwe, 12-5-23-0) and a former England U19 captain (Paul Redfern). In response Huckle got 52 and Redfern a quaker, but we restricted them to 103-4 off 30, the game well in our hands. Their number 6 however just took the game away from us in the last 15 overs, and hit 8 6s in a very quick-fire 101. When we got him out they were 2 behind, and their number 11 hit a 4 with 4 balls remaining. Disappointing to lose but still nice to be back in the runs personally.

agree its annoying when sides are playing below their actual ability - one of the problems with the current trend toward 10 team divisions and lots of depth, a la the Thames Valley which you know from yore is that a side that improves rapidly can take five years to get to the "right" level...

and to prove the point:-

The Wetherby Cricket League made this record possible by sticking us in the bottom division lol

Got a very nice win today, after a good midweek performance I was promoted to number 8 however our number 7 batted out the last 15 overs in a partnership worth over 100 as we got to 240. They never looked like getting it as they were always behind the rate not helped by regular wickets. With 15 overs left and black clouds covering the sky their tailenders tried to block out for rain, sadly it didn't work as I came on and took two wickets to finish off the innings.

2nd game of the season for me today. Fielded in the drizzly rain for 3hrs, had tea, openers batted for ten overs only for it to hammer down and match abandoned. Waste of a day!!

We were 40-5 today, manged to get up to 124 from our 45 overs, with the rain I didnt think we'd get back on after tea so I offered their captain the no result. He rufused and they had to hit a revised 96 from 29 overs, we had them 55-9 at the end of their overs! Great win!
