First win of the season for our Sunday 2nd XI today. Played Bath Exiles who won the toss and batted first on a tiny ground with ridiculously long outfield. They got 226-4 (I think) from their 40, after they said 150 has been par. I bowled a mix of leg-spin and seam up for 7-0-29-1.

We then batted and lost a few early wickets, I came in after 17 overs at number 6 needing 150ish to win. I got 92* off around 60-70 balls I guess including 7 sixes, 4 in one over which I was going for 6 x 6s (6.6.6.6.1.0). Kid down the other end who's 16 batted really well, we put on 70+ to win the game and he finished 28*.

One more game tomorrow, equally small ground (double ton?)

Don't have a Saturday team other than league games so will go down as Sunday 2nd XI. Confusing I know.

Winning draw today, we got 196 off 44 I got my second ton of the season getting 114.
The oppo got to around 176 for 8.
I bowled 10 overs 2 for 43.

With getting a job this week and runs I think I'd better put some money on the lottery as luck seems to be going my way

Haha! It is indeed! Chance less as well surprisingly. I think you'll beat you 114 tomorrow on that small ground mate ;)

I'll give it a go, been in good form this year, on 1012 runs so far so looking to get 1212 ;)

Not get complacent though, I'll be happy with 30*

Embarrassing game yesterday, keep relying on top 3 on a Sundays and same on a Saturday it appears now the leagues over. Sometimes works but when it doesn't it's embarrassing (62ao earlier in year, chased down 260 last week) We got 14 between us (0 for me) and 88ao. Opportunity won by 6 wickets, 40 more runs and they would have been in trouble aswell.

So I go into last game needing 99 to get 1000 runs 3 years in a row, no pressure!

Played for my over 40s team against Ashfield Moseley today lost by a far distance. They got 219-6 off 40 overs, I was tidy enough with 6 overs for 21 but not very threatening. We collapsed to 45-4 and I ground out 34 to get us up to 135-6 at the end. Out having a slog a few overs from the end.

season over for me this year, weekend was badly affected by the weatherm it felt like i couldnt build up any rhythm and i started the season with no batting practice at all after i hurt my neck.

never felt like i really got going and the pressure of maintaining such a good record from the previous season often played on my mind and i think i didnt bat as freely this year.

8 innings 630 runs average of 104 compared to average of 147 last year and 1010 runs in 10 innings. It was all going so well stats wise until the last two games where i only got 27 runs in total after 4 consecutive centuries. I was ran out by a team mate and then played on an unprepared wicket on the last game which was dangerous so the stats could have been mcuh better.

Similar story for my midweek team, excellent end of season stats but it just didnt feel very fluent for me this year but our team got promoted so it was fantastic for the club .... our first ever bit of glory.

Next season ....

no indoor cricket, complete rest until mid january from cricket then hit the indoor nets hard with some technique based batting for me and the club batsmen (for the first time in about 15 seasons going to nets in the winter) so im ready to go for an enjoyable season batting wise, with better technique and hopefully some silver ware.

Season finisher today. I hate losing as it is but today was very frustrating. We managed to get 147 all out batting first on a decent enough deck, I got 70 before throwing my wicket away to long on, next highest score apart from extras was 17. The total never really looked enough especially when Jim (OMF) came in and got 65-70?. The frustrating part was our fielding which was well, not good shall we say.

Plus point of today was my keeping which is usually average at best and I got my first catch followed by second behind the stumps haha, only done it a handful of times before but improving every time I do it.

Look forward to next season now and aim to beat my 1082 runs from this year.

Opened the bowling today and after asking the skipper to have long on and long off on the 3/4 mark (I always do that - it encourages driving and edges off the seam), discovered that the guy on the offside couldn't field so two balls that would normally have been stopped went for 4.  >:( Had 8 overs with no wickets, despite a plum LBW in the first over - no bounce, batsman not coming forward, opposition umpire  >:( And then conceded 2x 4 overthrows off my bowling thanks to people shying at the stumps crazily  >:( Oh and had one batsman dropped as well. We let them score 177 which was 25 above par, and we dropped five catches, then failed to make the runs in 40 overs, falling 18 short. Very frustrating. Let's hope we can play next weekend and it isn't washed out.
