kit combinations...
« on: May 01, 2012, 07:13:53 PM »

I have just been clearing out my kit and I realised that for as long as I can remember I have used matching pads and gloves from the same range from one brand, but with a different branded bat, whether that be Revolution ones or SAF or any other, but for whatever reason I don't really feel comfortable in matching kit.

some of my team mates like matching kit, others like everything different!

what do you guys go for and why... the sponsored look or the opposite?
I see that a few of you match by colour...

I go for whatever is nicest in my price range, haven't got the time nor money to colour co-ordinate my kit.

I just go for nice stuff sometimes matching pads and gloves but rarely matching bat as not that switched on

Same as you Buzz, matching softs, all I care about really! Colour coordination with softs and bat would be nice but in reality I don't care!

I like to look smart on the pitch, so prefer my kit to be colour co-ordinated. Don't think I've ever gone the whole hog and had all one brand, but will quite often have matching softs.

Previous colour combinations include:

Orange - Kookaburra Diablo gloves to go with a GM Hero Bat, with Slaz Test pads (which had plain black trim at the time) - put orange grips on all my bats!

Black/grey/red - Fearnley Xtec pads & gloves with Cicada Impetus bat - yellow grips on all bats

Blue & red - Sommers Pads and Gloves with my laver - yellow grips again

Red & Black - Fusion pads and gloves with my laver (yellow grips still)

White & Silver - H4L pads & gloves with my laver (white gripped now)

That's a good point - I will invariably use the R900s with my white-gripped Paradox and my old Salix Pods with the Blue Room.
Trouble is, I'm now getting itchy fingers on the 'confirm' button to get some Instinct pads... Red, orange and yellow isn't a good combo!

I usually pick one brand for the season, then that's it .... Gone for grays nics this year, also having a number of sponsored county player friends cheap cricket gear is always on offer.

I don't know why but I also have Buzz syndrome: pads and gloves must match.

For me its just whatever I like. However, I do like to have matching kit and wear that when I'm using a particular bat. When I use GM bat, I'll use GM pads + gloves, and same applies with other brands I have.

However, my match kit for this year is different, whilst I'm trying to have matching gear in colour combination at least but the comfort and feel of Salix Pod Black gloves is drawing me away from it :(

This is the first season I have had matching gear....Chase R11 pads, gloves and bat. Now I'm freaking out that it's a bit much and I'll look like an idiot as I try to mow a half volley over cow corner.....so I think I might have to use my BAS gloves from last year to look less 'sponsored'

Funnily, my skipper (who is an awesome player) will only use knackered kit. His pads have wadding falling out of them, His Maruri is actually rusty, his gloves are held together with tape and his bat is a 4 year old Puma 4000....When I offered him some new kit he just said...."I love going out to bat and carting them about wearing this manky old gear" They underestimate me!

I normally go for matching colours, I have rogue 850 pads with the orange trim and have some GM d30 gloves with the orange trim. My Ayrtek has Green/Grey stickers and I thought about putting the white RK stickers in it. But I thought I'd leave the ayrtek ones on and hpgive Tom the recognition he deserves for a quality blade!
