SS bats do seem to be very good quality, I'd say the handles and finish of the ones I've seen are up there with many English brands. CJI on this forum stock a number of bats as do Aswani another forum sponsor.I'd have bought one myself in India however the shapes don't do it for me, they seem to be very much focussed on big edges rather than middles and the prices I was quoted for a SS Matrix were in excess of what I'd pay for any custom bat in the UK.The players using them may be to do with them getting them free, SS may even have a rep out there giving bats away in exchange for advertising. There was one company who did this in the ICL last year, however it didn't work out brilliantly as players just removed the stickers and there were no edge marks like SS have.
Cheers for the responses guys, really helpful. Some pretty good prices on the sites recommended there if they are of the quality you guys are suggesting. I especially like the look of the Ton LE and the 'Players' edition bats. I guess i'd have to take this up with the retailers but does anyone know if they can get hold of them with just the stamps on them (i.e. what hayden and bopara have)? Is it diffcult to remove stickers from a bat when it is brand new and what sort of marks would be left? It seems a bit silly that a grown man wants to emulate the pro's, i guess i'm a sucker for product placement. ha!
