Good thread I must say
.
I had been using GM Original Limited Edition Duplex for a good amount of time, such as complete indoor season and more than dozen outdoor nets and last four games. Whilst it looks very gorgeous in pictures but I didn't like it as much as I liked it in pictures. The reason are/were;
- Too big :
On away games we use carpooling where we share rides and my bag is biggest, so it becomes inconvenient to carry the bag and for indoors its very big.- Underpar Quality :
Since it has hefty price tag, maybe I was expecting the bag to be of better quality perhaps? First of all, the compartments barrier is not strong enough, whilst I gave it less use, the barriers always ended up getting out of shape and I'd often put weight on it to flatten it. Furthermore, there were signs of rips. Again this seems to be norm, but these shouldn't have been there considering how I treated it. For half of the use I never let the wheel touch the ground.- Futile Bat Compartments :
This looked amazing innovation to me, but the foams were so tight that they would often damage the bats decal. I know its not a big deal but if labels are damaged then you can't really get them replaced unless you spend £30-£45 for refurbishment merely for decals!!- No Pockets :
This amused me really. The bag has absolutely no pocket(s)! Yes, it has three compartments but they aren't pockets. I didn't like throwing my keys and cellphones in compartments. So a small pocket would have been sufficient for me.
What I liked about the bag was that it allowed me good organization.
I got it for £69 so price was not as steep as it is usually for UK boys. I sold it on locally for £45 which I think is a decent price.
The bag currently in use for me is Millichamp & Hall Medium Canvas. I really like this bag, why? Following are justifications for me;
- Ideal Size :
It is not one of those biggest bags in the market, it is very compact and decent size. Unlike GM I have no problem in carrying this on my shoulders. More importantly, it is very compact and easy to carry around.- One Pocket :
Unlike GM this bag has one pocket. Whilst many won't like it but it is a good one to throw your keys, cell phone, sun block et cetra
However, one slight downside is that, you can't place any bat within the bag. Carrying bat itself is not very inconvenient but I prefer having everything together so when I field I have an eye on my bag after every over.
I got this M&H bag in there clearance section so paid £35 (lol) which is awfully a bargain! So for that price, its remarkable.
This is what I carry in my bag ;
- 1 Pair of Pads
- 2 Pair of Gloves
- Ayrtek Helmet
- Shock Doctor
- Thigh and arm protection
- Some shirts, some base layers and clubs jacket for games.
- 1 Pair of shoes plus steel spikes
The dimensions of GM and M&H respectively are (cm) - l x h x w) ;
92 x 38 x 42 & 82 x 33 x 33
So that different is very significant for me.
Lately I have been like Salix Pod Pro, likes of Tim and Joe have that and they rate it extremely high. That bag dimensions are;
86 x 36 x 33
Once again very good thread.
