Just Watched the Andy Flower interview on SS1 and JT looks all set to bat at 6 after Flower dismisses the 5 bowler option.

not sure JT is the answer. Compton is much more consistent and has the experience of playing for a few more years than JT. just think morkels normal length will test him alot! he looks the kind of player who needs to be scoring runs to feel settled. not sure he will get that kind of opportunity to be free scoring

Being South African helps Compton's cause too, surely! Definitely more consistent too.  He was a mate of mine at uni, too, if anyone's keeping score!  :D Would love to see him get a call-up - if not this test then very soon hopefully...

listening to the interviews with Flower Taylor will be in for the long term,Bopara whatever problems he has may have cost him a test place.England I think still want Bairstow to come thru.
Taylor I reckon was encouraged to move counties to Div 1 in prep for England.
Compton I dont think will get a call up,runs at Taunton are easier than elsewhere in the Country and England prob take that into consideration.
Taylor has some seious talent but it's a big step up he about to take.
lt's hope he does ok.

runs at taunton are no different to runs at the oval for instance. Dont forget he scored runs home and away when seasoned pros like ramps couldnt hit it off the square! People always say runs at taunton are easy but you still have to have the ability and mental strength to score them. if its that easy why isnt every game at taunton a draw as the class batsman on both sides should be racking up hundreds without breaking sweat?

Yes true,Compton is a good player who has had a great season. He has a poor first class average compared to Taylor and I would'nt compare him to Ramps at 29 which is Compton's age I think.
England I would guess are now starting to look a couple of years in advance at the test side, some of our guys may not be around,KP might deceide he wants 20/20 only come the next round of contract talks,or England might tell him get get lost.
Taylor,Bairstow,Root, vince, maybe Bopara might find there are openings for them where there have been none in the last 3 or 4 years.Strauss won't go on forever...

I would imagine that Root is a nailed on favourite the replace Struass when his time comes.

Bairstow will come again
Bopora has had his chance and failed... many times so can't see why they would go for him again

1. Root
2. Cook
3. Trott
4. KP
5. Bell
6. Taylor
7. Prior
8. Broad
9. Swann
10. Finn
11. Anderson

Bresnan, Vince, OHB, Stokes etc etc all in the pipeline

Cook, Bell-Drummond, Taylor, Root, Bairstow, Vince, Buttler, etc! I wonder who will be there in 7 or 8 years time?  ;)
And what new names with surface!

Not at all, fair to say you've got JT wrong there mate! Followed him since he started, and he's the kind of guy who is happy to go at his own pace, He's not like (for example) Jason Roy who gets bogged down and then plays big/rash shots, Taylor gets his head down and plays the way he knows. Compton isn't as consistent, he's just having one really, REALLY good season, whereas Taylor has averaged 40+ for 4 seasons now. He also plays very well off the back foot, as he picks up the length well, as most shorter batsmen do.

Also, to add to people's future cricketers, Ollie Rayner for a spinner. Class act!

Taylor also performs very well on TV which is something quite hard to to coach I think, you've either got it or you haven't.
