The Kooka Regulation four piece also begs to differ....  :)

Fair enough, i expect its cost effective to make some balls for the Australian market in Australia itself.

I've never seen an Aussie made ball in the UK. Kook balls for the UK market are made in India or Corby as far as i know.

Kookaburra Cricket Equipment
The Kookaburra name is synonymous with sport. Not only is Kookaburra Sport the largest producer of cricket balls in the world, our cricket bats and ultralight protective equipment is used by the worlds elite batsmen.

Kookaburra Sport was established in 1890. We have world acclaimed cricket bats with the Kookaburra logo chosen to be used by some of the worlds best. The Kookaburra Turf cricket balls are used exclusively in Test cricket in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe with Pakistan being another renowned Kookaburra stronghold.

For the first 100 years of our existence, Kookaburra Sport traded as A G Thompson Pty Ltd and many members of the Thompson family are still involved in the day to day running of the company, looking to extend its award winning record as the worlds best known manufacturer of cricket balls.

Founded in 1890 by Englishman, Alfred Grace Thompson, a saddle and harness maker, with a love for sport, A G Thompson Pty Ltd. began business in Bay Street Brighton Victoria and by WW1 was already entrenched as one of the leading Australian hand-made cricket ball manufacturers.

In 1945 the then Australian Cricket Board of Control wrote to all the Australian cricket ball manufacturers requesting that they send samples of their products for possible use in the first post war Test Series, involving Don Bradmans Australians and the visiting English team. The A G Thompson Kookaburra Turf ball, a hand sewn, five layered quilt cricket ball was chosen, beginning an unbroken 62 years association with the International game which since the late 1970s has also included the use of a white leather ball used for limited over cricket in Australia.

Kookaburra now exports world wide to all cricket playing nations.

Since 2002, it has seen a very active time in the companys history with the completion of the new manufacturing complex at nearby Moorabbin housing over 70 employees and the UK acquisition of the 200 year old cricket ball manufacturer, Alfred Reader & Co Ltd, also with 60 plus employees, confirming that Kookaburra Sport is the largest cricket ball manufacturer in the world.

Kookaburra continues to strive for excellence to be the best equipment for cricket both locally and world wide.

I imagine the fc/test level balls are made in Aus. More expensive ball = higher margins and cost = aussie or uk made. I suspect 70-80% of the kooks balls, ie. the cheap Sports Direct stuff, is made in India.

Pretty certain SG make all the bats, the T20 bat has the exact edge profile of the SG version.

I has moved up to Corby with the rest of Readers operation, but i believe it will now be used (if it wasnt being already) for Kook balls too.

First ever post, so thought it may be a good idea to put up the kit I have!

Bats
Adidas Sachin Tendulker Master Blaster Elite
Gray Nicolls Powerbow Players
Kookaburra Recoil Mayhem

Gloves
GM 909 D30 x2

Pads
GM 909 D30

Boots
Nike Air Zoom Pace 2
Nike Air Zoom Century 2

Accessories
Aero P1 Strippers *
Aero Tour Bag

* - to be purchased

Unfortunately, I bought the Adidas because it was cheap! Has a nice grain and 'ping' off the mallet but not my cuppa. I prefer the GN, and don't really like that either - seem to have a habit of buying something because it's cheaper than it should be... or not!

Anyone know of any good bats with a low middle? I keep checking the ebay bargains section but then think I'll end up getting into the same position of finding something good and cheap, but that I'm not really happy with! Cost isn't a barrier (within reason - if it's £300 and lasts a couple of seasons then that's ok)!  :D

Where abouts do you live? A local sponsor could do you a decent stick for well under that!

R.e. The pictures - Struggling to get them onto my PC at the moment but will get them on soon!

And I don't live to far from Kippax - always intended on getting one but something else catches my eye before I get the chance! Know people with them who think they're very good! If I can get rid of the Adidas and GN then it may be worth speaking to Chris about getting a couple!
