Oh I forgot the best one. When I was 40  my dear friend Ottis Gibson hit me through the visor and fractured my cheek bone and eye socket. Best of it was he was on our side and we were in the nets before the game. Wearing a helmet it went straight through and never touched the visor. Who needs helmets!

ouch....

Only been hit on the head once and that was my brother inlaw in the nets at Taunton, he wasnt my bother in law at the time and didnt like the fact that i was going out with his sister !! lots of chin music.

Its a shame that more of the pros don't play club cricket now, it would definitely get more people down watching local sides.

The only thing I can say to that is that my missus gives me far more pain than any cricket ball ever did.
I had to look , memory has gone now, Andy Spiller was from 1980 two years before. I was only 17 then!!! Now that was a long time ago.

Kieron did you ever get the opportunity to play o the Taunton ground?

Yes Steve, played there a fair few time mainly for the county board x1 and for my club side Ilminster in lots of club cricket finals.

Still hold the record for the fastest 100 at Taunton.

It's was just my day in that game Steve. You get those days when you middle everthing without even thinking about it. I hit 12 sixes and got my ton off 41 balls. Chasing 180 we got them with 2 over spare (20/20 game)

I got 70 odd in the final the following year.

Also had a first baller there for Somerset board x1 against Devon so not all good memories !!!

Lee Savident came with him a few times, as did Lawrie Prittipaul. Stan Rudder was my godfather, another Hampshire hero and amazing bloke. He was an incredible bowler. Not sure if you know any of this lot Buzz?

I have played against Lee a few times.

Also saw Gatting net a few years ago at Lords before we went in, he still seemed to enjoy having a bat but looked very red when he finished!

We are quite spoiled in Perth, I got to net with the Aussies a few times at the WACA via club contacts and we regularly have county/internationals play at club level...in the past we have had Al Stewart, Solanki, Kabir Ali, Darren Mitchell, Stephen Moore plus the locals lads Katich, Moody, Julien.
I kept to Kabir when he was over after shoulder surgery but I missed his first game..he came on first change my first game, skipper at 1st slip "best take a few steps back"  me "really skip, 1st change off 10 paces...ok then" queue a rapid 80mph bouncer first ball and a batsmen with stain underwear!

I saw Nick DeGrys mentioned early...I grew up playing him on astro turf wickets.....scary, crazy bowler...rapid at 18 on turf let alone astro...breathed relief when he came to same district club as me :)

Ive bowled at Keith Bell (Ian's brother) at nets before. Very good bat tbh, easily the best ive bowled at. Never got him out but did beat the bat a couple of times.

Played all the way through school with Keith, was a very good player and I know he played quite a bit for Warwickshire 2s.  I always thought he would make it as I thought he was as good as Graham Wagg who I also played against.
Still remember when Keith ran me out for a duck in a school game though.  :(

Not really the same but a few of our lads at the club are in the junior county side and when India were last over for their tour they spent an afternoon bowling at tendulkar, apparently an absolute top bloke!

Sachin tendulkar's son plays at my club for a couple of months each summer so guess who I've been up at the nets with! I can say I've bowled Tendulkar even if its his son right? ;)

My brother played for MCC YC's, and was on duty when Tendulkar first toured England in the early nineties.  He was asked along with others to bowl at the little master.  My Bro was an opening bowler who bowled at decent pace. However, after not too long he was asked to vacate the net for not being good enough.  I'll add that Ed Giddins was on the staff at the time and also got chucked out of the net along with my Bro !
